I don't want to be negative but after the fiasco last night this is starting to get kinda annoying. I'm not trying to be one of those f cryptic and pwe guys but damn.
Exactly why do people think being a gold or lifer makes THEM so special? I paid for this game and do I expect special treatment? I don't because a lot of people like you and me want to try new things like a lot of others.
I think Everyone should asked for there money back! And if they say No, Call the CC card company yea put it on and file a complaint, And Dispute the Transaction Cuz yea did not get What you paid for!
Yes we are all screwed but we have a term in german, Schadenfreude". This time cryptic gets there's as well. They spend time and money hoping to get old player who got bored back and attract new players. What do you thing how many players ( or old one returning) stick with a game where after 3 to 12 hours of patching and 2 to 3 hours in a waiting que you get after 5 minutes kicked out due to server connection lost or because now you have to do something else. My guess is less then 10 % so cryptic will not make a profit but a loss. Schadenfreude!!
To do something like that and not prepare for the onslaught is TRIBBLE and a losing business model.
I'm surprised they didn't see this coming and get some extra capacity to cope with the sudden influx. For some, this would be their first experience of STO at all or for a long time. A nice welcome for them to enter as number 14523 in line to start playing and have to wait *checks watch* over an hour to get half way down the list.
why can't they have dedicated servers for each faction (Feddy, Klingon, and now Romulans) with each having an expansion server on it for when they roll new content to ensure this whole wait thing doesn't happen anymore

Every time any game releases a major content update, there is stability issues for a short bit, but are usually fixed in short order. What I find funny is that it always surprises people. Really? Do none of you ever pay attention to the world surrounding you?
Ya it sucks that Gold and LT subs are having trouble getting in. But you know what? It'll get fixed. And if you don't have the patience to wait for that, then there may be bigger issues at hand then the lack of access to a VIDEO GAME.

Once you are able to get to Level 10, what side are you going to align with and why.
I'm going Fed with my first, just to bring the battle cloak to fed PVP
I have seen queues before in other MMOs, especially during milestone launches--including MMOs that were substantially more populated than STO has ever been. I have never seen a queue this large.
This comes down to crappy servers, plain and simple. I suspect they brought the soft cap on max capacity down after yesterday's fiasco of lag, login issues, connection issues, and server downtime.
Upgrade your stacks Cryptic/PWE, it's not like you aren't banking by way of the virtual casino you've created.
And wouldn't be capitalized because it technically isn't the start of a new sentence. It should look something like "No one is willing to accept this, and if you do you're a fool!". Just sayin. Oh and these queues suck.
Ah, quite right there. Though the merits of perfect grammar have waned over the past few hundred years. Traditionally 'and' would not be the start of a new sentence. However, in the same tradition, it's use in a sentence does not require a comma prior to it.

the real problem here is that support team didnt got the job done properly.they introduced that patch...
1)it took alot of time to be patched.
2)login error for unknown reason that took hrs to be fixed(i personly waited 2 hrs before go to bed
3)now login queue.....i dont believe servers are full and right now there is 14000+ ppls to wait(1 hr and half ago there was below 7000)....unless none gets logged in at all this shouldnt be possible cuz in another 1 hr and half we gonna have login queue of like 20000+ with that speed and none will keep playing this game
4)i changed characters like 3 times for 4 hrs i waited between 15 to 30 mins each time...this is not normal even if game becomes pay2play as someone sayed above none will pay for that
So if this is ur mistake due to the fact patch was introduced unfinished(as i believe) is better u TAKE 12HR OR 24H MAINTENCE AND FIXED THAT.MOST OF US PREFERE TO WAIT AND NOT PLAY A DAY INSTEAD OF SWITCH CHARACTERS FOR 1 HR!!!
note:before this patch everythink was fine...after that it started with all this problems.its not due to the reason that many ppls comed back to the game after they were gone or that there is many new ppls who start to play for 1st time-its due to that that support didnt done the job properly so they can either fixed it or buy better servers to log in 100,000 ppls tomorrow with that speed
i proved last night it wasnt full when the queue was 21000 ...i logged into tribble and went to chat zone and said cya till this is fixed ...ya know what happened I GOT IN THE GAME Suddenly then bran does that emergency thing and i haven't got nothing but the ever increasing queue
and when i played there was no lag a few new bugs and thats that...
x/15000 cue now wow umm this is some kind of sick and twisted joke

Why purchase all of that for a queue that will be gone in just a few days? As I said before, this happens EVERY season launch, and in less than a few days the onslaught of excitement settles and there is no more queue. The same is already happening here - yesterday the queues were in the hundreds of thousands. Today I logged on and there was only around 14k in queue. I am now down to 3,000-ish. Tomorrow we may not even see queues in the thousands, but by Friday there will be smooth logins as usual.
Cryptic makes two servers! Holodeck, and Holodeck2! They would be a complete copy/past of each other, but, would allow twice as much people to play at one time!
Currently at 15107 in queue... possibly the highest number I've ever had for any game, beta or launch. /yay me.

You realize that many of the people that will quit after a few days will likely do so because of the queues, right? So, while you can say that it is nonsensical for Cryptic/PWE to upgrade their servers for the short term, since the short term does not reflect what they will require for the long term. You could just as easily say that the neglect of the short term affects their long term customer retention.

This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
Has nothing to do with that. One of the benefits of being Gold/lifer is being bumped to the front of the login queue. It's a perk for spending the money.
Yet they are going to have to face the horrible realization that they are going to have to wait either way....I really don't think there is only one gold or lifer here.

Queue, especially a large one actually makes the problem worse because it encourages people to hog space on the server by incentivising them to do so.
Why log out and let someone else play if it means you won't be able to play when you want to?
going to make just logging in my few characters to redo doff missions take about 3 hours.
