It does have the super-nigh-invulnerable ship shields (Yes, you will not be able to return fire when using them, but hey, you won't blow up either ;)).

So instead of blowing up, respawing and being back in place with full hull and shields you will - after the bubble goes down - blow up 20 sec later.

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

Well, considering how the Space part of 'Into The Hive' was kept from one dev, it's better to wait for the announcement than speculate ;)

What do you mean by that exactly ?

    Here are our questions:

Does each variant include an Aux DHC?

Can you equip 3 Aux DHC at one time?

Can other ships equip the Aux DHC if they can normally equip Dual Heavy Cannons?

    Yes*.

    Yes*.

    Yes*.

some of the complaints just make me lul.

"its a big ship it should have bigger hull!" - no mention of the turning speed
"its a big ship it should turn slower" - no mention of the relatively small hull.
"omg this ship is too science oriented wdf" - no way. a SCIENCE SHIP is too SCIENCE oriented? what's it like being a rocket scientist?

in any event, i agree that its current layouts somewhat make it a tad "overpowered". however, i see this as the ship that finally puts science vessels on fairly even ground with escorts and cruisers. say what you will about your "super awesome science build", an escort or (in certain cases) a cruiser can produce the similar necessitated result in a far more efficient manner.

Can you buy a single variant, remove the ADHC, dismiss and reclaim the ship, and repeat for as many ADHC's as you want?

That as much so be an obvious YES!

Defiants cloaked with full aux power, decloaking and suffering minimal DPS loss when they do.

Right now I cope by using Tech doffs and Aux2batt to quickly turn all that Aux power into firepower. Imagine not needing to do that and just go straight up 3 subnuc doffs and 2 BFI doffs.

    Scary thought.

Maybe, just maybe, this means they'll be removing those restrictions from the 180 degree Torpedo, the Quad Cannons, and the Thermionic Torpedo...

we can certainly hope , the 180 torpedo in multiples on an armitage would be a nice concept

By does an armitage need 180 degree torps? You can just as well run all normal q torps. Its the shared cooldown between projectiles that kills it for the armitage.

And I really don't recommend mounting several QCs at once or you'd grind to a halt every time you spacebar.

ok, now i feel like cartman in that post you edited.

balance implications- you eliminate the need for weapons power, you only need to worry about 3 of your 4 of your subsystems, and not give a second thought to weapons power. and thats on ALL ships that can use DHC, dismissing and reclaiming would get you a 4th.

if the devs in charge of introducing new things in game, and balancing the game, think that for even a second this is a good idea, they are not qualified, incompetent really.

for them to remain employed they should be made to learn their own game better, and the only good way to do that is to que up for pvp, were balance maters, and truly learn. its unacceptable that they arent all top tier pvp'ers, those that deal with balance. it can be balanced and awesome at the same time, really it can. its your job to put enough effort into this to make sure that its both, or your not doing your job, and damaging the game long term.

Random point, but if it's like the Quads, it will scale damage off weapons power despite draining Aux. Thats probably why you can have several.

Running at max aux can be a good investment for scis, but i'm still wondering why every new ship has to be even more OP than the previous one, without any PvE content buff... :(

i hope it does change , thats a wee bit overpowered lol
one set of aux cannons wouldnt be so bad , but 3-4 would be pointless , what'd be the point having weapon power ? your turrets ? >__>
besides that , this being a SCIENCE SHIP and all , whoes science abilities USE AUX POWER wouldnt it make a weapon that drains said power like throwing a shovel at a man who fell down a well and asking him to dig his way out ?

A tactical captain in this is going to shred face. An engineering captain in this is going to be nigh-unkillable. A science captain in this is going to... well nothing really. Science captains still suck. Nothing wrong with science ships or space powers, its just the captain abilities that suck. THATS why very few people play science at the moment, not the lack of good science ships.

Exactly, your turrets still need weapon power, but not as much. Leaving it at 25 is enough given your innate bonuses.

Escorts use full Aux are: Defiant, for cloaking, and Armitage, for fighters. This is a welcome addition. But do also note that these ADHCs will not have [Acc]x3 so I don't see how this is unbalancing pvp when all they do is miss...

On hindsight, running full aux for the defiant then use Aux2Batt while coming out of cloak is a better idea than running 4xADHCs, simply because the mods are PVP unfriendly. You only need/have 10 seconds to down a target. If its not dead by then, your buffs would've been close to running out. You should just ICC and recloak instead of sticking around.

Now this is what I am talking about. I love how you guys broke up all of the Vesta's abilities into three separate subclasses. On top of that, y'all gave each subclass a unique skin. That is learning from the dropped ball of the Odyssey class. Well done indeed!!!

true , just seems weird for it to be able to have 3 of these , that said , ill not be using them regardless , all my aux goes towards gravity wells :D

I'm glad to hear about the aux cannons. Science has been so handicapped that I think having gear that is Auxilary dependant is a great way to go!

If it doesn't have a unique bridge, it would be nice if we could at least get the Oddysey one to use.

I was also wondering what the cooldowns are for the console powers/set bonuses.

Then there is no disturbance in the force, and I carry on running full Aux + Aux2batt for PvP burst dps. I still win. :D

No you misunderstand. If these are like the Quads, you have 25 weapons power and they'll be doing 20% the damage you would with 125 wepaons power. Nothing i'm seeing says their damage no longer scales off weapons power, just that they don't drain it.

it's a common misconception about quads actually. If you took the engine power drain off quads it would be a pure buff as your engine power setting has NOTHINg to do with their damage output.
