[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] EXPLORE.
Dec '07 Account I EARNED 1000 days...I didn't BUY it! New LTS=Death to Vet.System: 10/10/12 Never Forget Something should be done for those who cared enough to have a 1000+ day sub.
What a brilliant ploy the new temporal set is, isn't it? Yep, Cryptic's marketing department really outdid themselves, this time! Chapeau! Because now, despite that you can buy the ships themselves on exchange, they still force you to use 600 (non-tradeable) lobi worth of lockbox keys to get a uselful, matching set to go with it.
Yeah, I know, nobody's putting a gun to my head, making me buy these, blah, blah. But that's not the point: the point is that you now no longer can get around the lockboxes (at least C-ships with unique consoles you could simply buy).
So, 800 + 600 (3x 200) = 1400 lobi for a fully fitted ship. With no way to circumvent the lockboxes. Great job, Cryptic!
Also mind you everything you speak of is just to get it on one character none the less. If this were actual canon.. Heck even soft-canon this is how a scenario like this would play out. All these captains flying around in time ships and temporal investigations pops their head in. They make a decision to confiscate and destroy them due to the fact a majority of them would be used to fight the borg (aka stfs). Weighing out the dangers as the Captain of the Enterprise-E predicted the federation has about a year before they are over run by the borg...
Pretty much due to the lack of understanding and improbability of being able to reverse engineer and combat any of this technology that could very well be adapted by the borg could turn that year into a matter of weeks thus temporal investigations would then have no choice but to make sure none of these vessels or the technology available in the last few days fall into the hands of the borg.
It's nice and all for there to be a KDF Klingon designed set of ships that are science based for Klingon Science Officers but the issue one doesn't allow cannons to be used, then neither has a cloak (which to any debate there is no nerf needed because the simple fact of why some KDF ships have lower shield modifier is that their counter parts on fed side can't use cannons on them... even then some that fall into this category are balance the same so a futile point to debate). Being it doesn't even have standard KDF perks and is only per character at a rate of 250-500 dollars or more per ship its just not feasible to even bother with another grind for a ship i may not use that often.
Edit: So many schemes to have a play at a cash grab that the integrity of the franchise, the game, and the company is sorely not well thought out to the point that it just creates hostility that never had to be there in the first place.
Can't we just stop buying the keys, so Cryptic will stop making these lock boxes? I don't care if it the rewards are only ships, or whatever. Make the ships available on C-Store then everyone can pick them up by buying the zen points.
Even if you stopped buying the keys, that would not lead to PWE putting the ships on the Zen Store. The reason they are in lock boxes are because CBS/Paramount have said that it would be inappropriate to have every captain with 20 bucks lying around flying those ships. They vetoed the idea of allowing those ships into the game on large user basis. They only approved them because with lock boxes there will be only a few captains flying them around relatively speaking (compare 1,000 or so to millions of users). It's nice that CBS/Paramount is even letting them put the ships in the game. So get rid of the lock boxes and you get rid of the ships. They won't be going into the Zen Store the instant PWE thinks lock boxes are a bad idea.
i opened one with key i bought off the exchange today what did i get some fleet experience boost that makes out at 5000 and maybe 5 lobi crystals what does anyof that have to do with anything temporal now if it was called fleet box that drop might be cool but this was worse than lame glade i didnt buy keys off the zen store now i know the temporal ships arte on the high end on the low end a pet or ground weapon would be better

Stop posting when you're drunk; or use punctuation (or preferably both); you're not making any sense.
can someone tell me why just selling the stuff on the C(Z)-Store, what ever its called so bad now, Why have these lockboxes, they are unpopular and people would rather just buy the stuff on the store.
i mean for the love of god, Cryptic, why do you continue to do this?

Because they don't care what the player's want, or their gaming experience, Cryptic/PWE care only for what their wallets want.
Why do you think the KDF has been left to fossilized?
and heck! At this rate we'll have pilots on dragons firing fireballs/photn torpedoes! Saying it was from "the future".
I'm the guy that uses unconventional builds, and don't fall to the normal. I also don't believe in "No-BS" TRIBBLE, it's in the game, it's ready to be used. Think Clint Eastwood in Heartbreak Ridge.

I spent WAY too much money on lock box keys and didn't really get anything good. I don?t really mind because I made a choice to do that. Now I will just sit back and build up my slush fund again.
I am also glad to help put more money into the game so they can continue to make it better and last a long time.

You're missing the point : it's all about the money! Regardless of what ANYBODY tells you, it generally takes a LOT of Keys to get a playable ship (of any kind). Cryptic/PW know this. If they sell these ships for $20.00 US in the C-Store, they make just that much. If they make them available ONLY in the Lock Boxes, players will have to buy as many keys as it takes for every ship type they want. At a dollar a key and with low odds of unboxing a ship, it doesn't take a mathematician to see this scam ... er ... system is a serious money maker. The really sad thing about the whole Lock Box scheme is just how willing they are to TRIBBLE paying players with useless garbage, or easily farmed equipment, for the money they've spent opening the many non-ship bearing boxes. The only way this nonsense will stop is if the tools dropping 50+ USD on these lock box promos get a life, or a clue and use that money to feed their kids...:)

I am confident that a majority of the people playing the game like the lock boxes or they would not buy them and Cryptic would not continue. None of the items in the Lock Boxes are in the C-Store and they say that there is no plan on putting them in the C-Store.
I would have to say I do like most of the contents of the new lockboxes. I haven't read any previous posts if anyone else has stated this but, I feel one item is a kick to the jaw. The 100 fleet mark bonus card.
Captains can easily acquire these through the starbase. They're bind on pickup and they serve no use to players without fleets. I know a few who still prefer to play without a fleet and have gotten the cards that they cannot use. I am of the opinion they shouldn't have been placed in there to begin with.

Not everyone is using money to buy the keys at the moment there is nothing worth buying with dilithium so I personally exchange the dilithium and get the keys that way. And as for using a lot of keys to get a ship. With the Tholian Lock Box and temporal lock box I got the ships I wanted with two keys.

One c-store ship = 20 euros/$.
One lockbox ship dropping with a 0.5% rate = 200 euros/$.
Many people will give it a try with a few keys too, since they don't want to spend 20 for a ship. This is the target audience, people not willing to spend a lot of money on the game. There will also be a few people spending incredible amounts of money with this casino. The more you have already spent the more you'll spend since you can't accept the fact that you didn't get the ship with the tremendous amount of money you gave.
Consequently, if you REALLY want this ship, the best individual strategy is to be ready to spend 200 euros or dollars to get the ship or to buy no key at all since it can be somewhat addictive. If you don't mind getting it or not I guess it's safe to get a handful of keys.

2 keys out of how many total? If you tell me you got both ships on you first key I'll say your full of S***
It is possible. A guy in my Fleet ended up with 2 Gold Card Lockboxes. He bought 2 keys. 1st box was something small 2nd box was a Galor. He used the last of C-Points on bank upgrade and sold it for 86Mil EC. (And he hasn't logged in since April)

Say what you like but I don't go for the wells class so I always buy a pack of 10 for each of my toons and once I get the ships I need then I stop
With the tholian lock boxes I got the star cruiser after 3 an he assault and KDF one after 3 each
With the current one I got the Reconnaisance Science vessel and Qin Raptor on the first keys this time all I need now is the Deep Space science vessel since not really wanting the temporal ships
