Star Trek vs Predator, starring Shia LaBouef, coming soon to a theater near you.

Sounds dumb as hell. Possibly an entertaining popcorn flick though. ;)

1 I have seen star trek the series

    2 I LIKE it

3 I can tell the difference between scottish and russian accents

4 I would be true to the Dream

5 I would hire TREKIES as extras

6 I would not mess with the canon because I could

as to computer programming not my area
I know less about computers than you do about tact and diplomacy

Golden rules to make a trek film

    1 stick to the dream
    2 no sex EVER
3 no drunken brawls or other drug induced violence
4 Kirk is 20 years OLDER than chekov
5 Vulcans do not lust after communications officers
6 Mary sue does not serve in starfleet
7 Story does not equal Explosions
8 there is no place in trek for racism EXCEPT where it is over come through the actions of the federation
    9 Chain of command Exists

it's days like these i wish the ignore from the game carried over into the forums still.

a certain posters fingers must be bleeding from all the straws he has been clutching at. every time i think he might have come back with a cogent argument - it's a swing and a miss.

To me I don't care and wont be watching it. I couldn't stomach the 5 mins I saw of that JJ Trek movie. Good thing I saw it on TV. Or I would have to be asking my $ back from the theater. To me he took a good name and made a complete joke out of it. Makes me want to puke.

1.) You have no idea what the dream is/was unless you're Gene Roddenberry. All you know is your interpretation of it. By the way - Gene made up Trek to get paid. You realize that, right?

2.) TOS Kirk got tail all the time. There was even an episode where you see him putting his boots back on afterwards.

3.) Trouble with Tribbles - drunken bar fight. You sure you watched the shows?

    4.) I agree

5.) Spock was almost married in Amok Time and had an annoying girlfriend in the episode where he got shot with the plant spores. You sure you have watched Trek, man?

    6.) I agree.

7.) Story is enhanced by explosions. Stuff explodes all the time in various Trek shows.

8.) Racism was a central theme throughout ST 6, a racism Kirk apparently harbored since ST 3.

9.) Yeah...chain of command has always been well portrayed in fiction and Trek. Right.

Seriously...I don't think you have ever seen an episode. :D

    and yours and everyone elses

    never on camera
3.) Trouble with Tribbles - drunken bar fight. You sure you watched the shows?

Sober bar fight they called her a garbage scow
    4.) I agree
    well done JJ doesn't

5.) Spock was almost married in Amok Time and had an annoying girlfriend in the episode where he got shot with the plant spores. You sure you have watched Trek, man?
A arranged marriage and a biological imperative in Amok time and a chemical attack
in no case does a vulcan LUST outside of the pon far (spellings vary) its not possible for them
    6.) I agree.
    good work
7.) Story is enhanced by explosions. Stuff explodes all the time in various Trek shows.
mostly consoles but explosions can not replace a good story
this is why battlefield earth sucked
8.) Racism was a central theme throughout ST 6, a racism Kirk apparently harbored since ST 3.
But its always overcome and works out with co-operation (see Day of the Dove)
9.) Yeah...chain of command has always been well portrayed in fiction and Trek. Right.

Failed cadets do not take command of a ship with Ensigns and above aboard

    seen all of them

    jj saw none of them

I think i am out and they pull me back in..

From DS9: Things Past (Season 5)

[the crew in the roundabout are discussing the conference on Bajor they are returning from]
Captain Sisko: I thought the Bajorans bent over backwards to be polite to you, Garak.
Elim Garak: Giving me a name tag that read, 'Elim Garak - Former Cardassian Oppressor' was hardly polite.
Lt. Commander Jadzia Dax: And what did you want it to say - 'Former Spy'?

Again, I don't think you have ever seen an episode of Trek in your life. See this clip and then you may understand. Probably won't, but maybe. The imprtant part is about 40 seconds into the clip.

I hate to say it 2009 film did boast inconsistnecies in physics, and also in the story telling.

Nero being a very 1-d villain
Emotional core of the franchise just was not present
Very fast ascent of Kirk to Captain
Some of the cast including Sarek wasn't explored all that much.

    Physics laws.

Black Holes not destroying the ships that get near them.
    Nor absorbing the matter nearby.

Does that mean it was a terrible movie.. No it means it was a fun movie and by definition a summer popcorn flick. This new path that the franchise is taking lacks emotional depth like its emulation of the Nolan Batman series..

    Does the sequel worry me?

It does some especially when it might go over a episode of the original series. That isn't all that original, which is a bad thing. Will it be the same success? I don't think so.

Not a good analogy to JJ Trek movie #2 since the JJ reboot original film didn't bomb

which is not saying the same as it didnt stink worse than a skunks butt in Georgia in the middle of August

As bad as TOS movie #5 was, it still made enough to justify TOS movie #6.

William Shatner loved JJ trek. Why you might ask? because his movie is no longer the worst star trek movie ever made.

And I think Gary Mitchell as a bad guy is kind of interesting if it pans out.

Gary Mitchell was already a bad guy. Might i point out the episode "Where No Man has Gone Before"

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but it means no more than any other random joe posting on the internet. However, regardless of whether you actually like the new movie or not, I can guarantee you it will make a ton of money.

The argument of if JJ's Trek movie was good or not, will continue for as long as there are Trek fans out there. Some liked it (such as myself), some hate it (such as Sollvax). And you know what? It's perfectly fine either we. Just shows that sadly, we'll never reach the "utopic" vision of the future that Gene Roddenberry had. As long as there is arguing going on, it will never happen.

You think people didnt argue in Star Trek? Did you forget Picard flying off the handle and throwing a rifle through a glass case? Or Spock almost choking Kirk to death after he said he didnt love his mother?

4 Kirk is 20 years OLDER than chekov

I'm not going to touch the others, as others will already have; but this one bothered me.

Kirk was in his mid-thirties when Chekov was assigned to the Enterprise. Even though, we didn't see his character in the episode Space Seed; it was stated he was there in TWOK. All references in the TOS, showed us that Chekov was a fresh graduate from the Academy; making him about 22 when he was assigned to the Enterprise.

Chekov is closer to about 12 years younger than Kirk.
