No, I DON'T Like Free Zen

Ok, this is just silly, multiple advertisements for Zen everywhere and then pop ups for Zen coming on my screen....really Cryptic?

This totally fees like "Star Trek" to me....man I come back after a small break and I feel like I'm in Korea (I don't mean that as a cultural insult)...just c'mon...Gene would not aprove. :frown:

Hell..I'd bet most of us aren't ok with this....how bad is STO doing that we are losign 2 devs soon and we are forced to scrap our old accounts for our new ones that have consistant bugs.

I'm just baffled...

    Checking forums at other PWE games does not reveal happy customers. Lots of threads about people not receiving promo Zen. I don't think it's worth it but if anybody tries it, please post your experience, especially with the Netflix promo.

    also lots of threads of people just playing the game. just so happens complainers love complaining and post first when their blood is boiling.

    personally i avoid the free zen offers (has some bad spam when i tried it when it first came out a couple of years ago). As for the ads. A decent browser that has addons will prevent you ever having to see them again.

    1) Get Firefox.
    2) Install Adblocker plus
    3) Install NoScript.

    Result: no more ads or pop-ups.

    You left out Flashblock.

    Personally I use Kaspersky and it's built-in ad banner, but whatever gets the job done :wink:

    Well, I haven't used the Netflix offer, but here's a write up I did in another thread about my experience with the free ZEN offers:

    Oh and the ZEN is actually credited to you by a third party host (I forget their name) and not PWE. I figured that out when one of the surveys I did didn't give me any ZEN, which apparently happens quite often. I had to go through this insane process with these other people to prove that I did the survey and all this other jazz. For 30 ZEN I decided it wasn't worth it and dropped it.

    Oh and for the love of all that is holy, don't use your real email for them. Make one up, they don't check to see if it's real. I woke up the next morning to find 580 spam mails in my inbox. This was my mistake for thinking that it was a legit thing run by PWE. I ended up changing emails. Or you could just not bother doing them and save yourself a massive headache.

    Wise decision. I wish I did that myself back then. But hey, lesson learned, no long lasting damage done, and I won't be making that mistake ever again.

    I was curious. I clicked on one. Got told:

    "This feature is inaccessible at this time.
    Your account needs to be at least one week old and have
    a character at least level 10 in order for you to take

    I have 3 level 50 characters (that were lvl 51!) and I've been a lifer since beta.
    Ummm...??

    Wasn't planning on actually signing up or filling anything out. But really? How bad can PWE be at this? Or how dumb of a player base did they have prior to acquiring STO?

    It would be worth getting censored if I knew anyone that made a difference actually read this stuff and got upset when I called them worthless, useless, and stupid.

    No offense but a quick search for the error message should have turned up quite a lot of discussion on how it's your PW account that it's being counted again, not your Cryptic or STO one and how the devs are looking into it.

    Umm what? This is the first time I've been on this new version of the forums. It's very sad to see Zen spam everywhere on this site.

    And normally, yes I have addons to block advertisements, but this was another Free Zen spam, not actually a random [insert promotion here] advertisement, just more Zen.

    I love how I'm painted as being a complete complainer who doesn't like the game...sorry for make this one observation.. :rolleyes: I love STO, sorry for showing how the website isn't all bells and whistles.

    i dont know if you quoted the wrong post nyiad, but my comment wasn't even aimed at you but at the poster directly above me and how forums will always be full of people complaining in general because thats what some people like to do. Fact of life. I was just saying there are plenty of other threads from people just playing the games too.


    the next paragraph is a general comment about how to avoid the 1 spam advert box on the forum and the floaty Facebook box. if help offends you i am sorry.

    I didn't care about searching for the error. I was pointing out yet another PWE shortcoming in regards to their site and forum. I apologize for not breaking that down "Barney Style." I'll try better next time.
