I had never heard of Perfect World before they bought Cryptic.
I created a Champions Online account some time ago, but I hate superheroes so I don't play it. I just wanted to check out the character creator to see if it was different from STO.
None of PWE's other games interest me in the slightest. I will never play any of them.
actually PW (chinese version) and WOW were released within about 6 or 7 months of each other, WOW in 2004, PW in 2005. I would say it is more accurate to say both were improved clones of earlier games such as Everquest.
I tried out Forsaken World and Rusty Hearts. FW wasn't too shabby, but way too cash shop oriented. The game itself was very pretty though. RH was a decent enough, but revolved around grinding the same dungeons over and over even at low levels. I got bored of it after a few hours. I'm also not a fan of that genre I guess.
Haven't tried out any of the others yet, they don't really look all that great to me.
This is the only one I play.. and only because they bought cryptic. I haven't been impressed so far with the changes I have seen in STO.. lockboxes, grinding in STFs and in general, lotteries, etc.. It doesn't inspire me to play any of their other games knowing I would have to do the same thing there in a genre that I don't care for.

prize boxes in PWI at least don't work the way of lock boxes - you have to actively buy them rather than them getting dropped in your lap. There is a box reward you get from one of the high level quest that I think needs a key to open but the prize is no longer worth the cost of the key. (chest gave you 1million in game coin as i recall, but the key to open it soon cost over 2.5million in ingame coin due to inflation)
Most of the prize boxes have a number of top, mid and low prizes, the lowest is something the equivalent of Lobi but you always get 15 tokens instead of the random number of lobi in STO.
Generally prize chests have been accepted now but there was a great deal of noise on the forums when they were introduced.
Can you blame STF grinding on PWE? Any game which requires you to collect items to build other items will have an element of grinding. Compared to other MMOs where you really have to work hard to level or gain great gear, grinding in STO is minimal.

After this last stunt, I may choose not even to play this game. The only reason i am here is because it's Star Trek. Three foundry challenges, and i've pulled in a first and second place finish. Instead of feeling good about that (I felt I was contributing to the Star tek community)...instead of feeling good about that, I feel like a complete tool and an idiot who allowed himself to bent over and used by PWE, an entity that cares for none of the things I care about, and only wants my money.
No, I have no desire at all to play any PWE games after what has happened here. One rear-entry is enough.
I'm another who never heard of PWE until they bought STO.
And after reviewing their other games on the PWE website, it's no wonder.
None of the games offered there appealed to me at all, most actually seem kinda silly and overly simplistic, so it is extremely unlikely I will even try any of them, especially after seeing the direction they are pushing STO into.

I played Champions for a minute when it went F2P. I'm kinda interested in Never Winter but I don't think I'll be playing as I don't want to spend money with PWE until I see what I consider to be improvements in the way STO is being handled.
None at the moment, my JD and FW were just too weird to continue...
Originally I signed up to play JD (Jade Dynasty) when someone at Guild Wars told me it was the rat's a$$. I soon found out you could leave your character to either meditate and level up to infinity or use the built in auto botting feature. WTF? So you don't really need to play, to play the game? Also game chat was/is limited until you break a level cap.
I saw FW (Forsaken World) and thought, I will try this instead... LoL. One mission (early in the game) says a fisherman needs his net to teach you to fish, he lost it in the sea. So as soon as I accept the mission I am teleported to the Sea of Hell. Yes, it would seem our fisherman gets around.
I went back to playing my GW for a few months when my two sons told me the very best game PWE has to offer is Star Trek Online. I was skeptical, the conversation went like this;
Josh: "Mom play STO, you will like it. You played WoW and it is a lot like that."
Me: "I am not into Sci-Fi I like fantasy. It doesn't have Orcs, dragons, or magic spells."
Vinny: "Yes it does, they have Klingons, Gorn, and sciences that can only be produced by magic."
So here I am enjoying STO on my PWE account. I still play this and Guild Wars equally. I can't say I am a fan of sci-fi. I am a fan of good MMOs.
I've played Champions, very fun game, although I probably blew more money than I should on costume stuff :P. I've also tried PWI but it was meh. Really Meh. The character creation was kinda cool, but it doesn't have squat on Cryptics. I'll probably play Neverwinter when it comes out as well. Every other PW Game is pretty much the exact same with a few minor differences. They're bland, boring, grindfests. I don't know how PW ever got off the ground to be honest. I might try Torchlight 2 though, it looks interesting.
none as i try to stear clear of games that you have to spend money on to be competitive,
as it is sto is on the border for me now cuz it takes 5 months to save enough to get somthing free
dnt get me wrong i do spend money, ive invested about $150 into sto , but i didny feel like i was being forced to. (although with the last few ship editions are starting to make me feel that way) my point is i dnt want how much money a person has to be the deciding factor in a pvp fight, if someone beats me , i wanna know they beat me, not my wallet,
with that said, i am willing to try other games, but i will play for a bit and feel it out before i decide to invest
im starting to wondr if i made the correct choice with this game................
PWE/PWI's other games hold absolutely no interest for me with possibly the exception of Champions. Since both STO and Champs are Cryptic games, regardless of the owning company these days. Those will be the only ones I will play. When Neverwinter is released I'll check it because I actually have a copy of the old NWN game I bought years ago and enjoyed it immensely even though Atari created it.
The Asian MMO model in my opinion is unappealing. Add to it and I realize not everyone may hold this opinion is that the latest PWE stunt perpetrated on us in the middle of the night with no warning shows a lack of class and customer respect. The only reason I am still here is Star Trek and the fact I believe enough in Cryptic that they want STO to be TREK. Sure Cryptic has made some missteps with it but I hope it lasts and gets better.
The best thing PWE could have done was own Cryptic and let them do their thing. It isn't unheard of for companies to have independent divisions that just report a bottom line but do their own thing.
My youngest son is playing DC Universe Online for his PS3. The only reason I mention that is because it too has gone F2P. I used to play WoW but they never improved the missions, plots, or mesh quality. My son did some benchmarks and the average WoW character uses 1200 triangles, other MMOs are running 2000 to 3000 triangles in the mesh geometry.
Yeah I get so confused when he talks like that...
Basically I am just glad we have the F2P options and if I want I can go ahead and dump a ton of cash. But you have to remember there is a risk of it not being there next month or next week. I remember this happened to a MMO called "Earth and Beyond". I think the players picked up the ball when the devs dropped it on that one.
I will ask my boys if they played Champions or not.
Never heard of PWE till they bought STO, but I was interested in Neverwinter since I heard it was being developed back with Atari. I loved NWN1. (own 2, but never finished it).
I'm kinda interested in Never Winter but I don't think I'll be playing as I don't want to spend money with PWE until I see what I consider to be improvements in the way STO is being handled.
I'm in the same boat here.
I'm not a fan of PWE's management of STO, so I am rethinking Neverwinter.

None. Well none if you don't count CO and STO, since I don't my answer in none. Then again I am logging in with a PWE account. I still say none and give the screen raspberries every time I see Perfect World.

Id consider playing them if I could find out what any of them is about (and i don't mean mindless DRIVEL about gods and races)
I want to know how they play
which are mauler (pvp infested death fests)
Which are actual rpg
and which have something like our bridge officers (or other companions)
Just STO here, never even heard of PWE before the merge, so all these games are news to me. But Jade Dynesty does look pretty cool. I might give that a try.

CO, well actually none PW games at all. Only Cryptic games. I don't like this asiagrundge at all and the most of their games don't fall under my interests.
Looking through PW's catalog though, Blacklight Retribution looks interesting, Neverwinter of course could be awesome. RaiderZ also looks kind of interesting too.
Honestly though, I tend to prefer more-cartoony, less violent games, or straightforward FPS games. Portal and Lego Star Wars are probably the perfect example of games I liked most.. but I did enjoy Half-Life 2 a good deal.
I briefly played Forgotten world, it felt like WoW back at launch. As far as MMOs go its a fun game, that feels a little different than most. I may go back and see what has changed eventually.
Rusty Hearts actually looks like fun, a multiplayer Devil May Cry.

I would not call CO a PWE game as it was Cryptic's before PWE came along. The woazzaaa! asian style flash-flash zaaap-ping fantasy MMO's don't interest me. Players NCSoft's Lineage II - the ultimate grind/gank MMO (I want that 6 months back)

Been playing Torchlight since long before Runic Partnered witb PWE.
As to the games developed by PWE themselves, I'm not into generic grindfests.
Rusty Hearts is a nice game, good for casual play. And the anime-looking style is fun.
Forsaken World or Perfect World Internatinal are good too, but is too WOW clone to my tastes. Nothing new here.
I have torchlight 1 and waiting for torchlight 2
