i wont waste my in-game time on you, thats for sure. but i will continue to batter you on the forums because you are an idiot. and if mav is no longer going to fight your nonsense on behalf of all of the new pilots you might influence, than i will.
Peh. My reputation isn't going to be damaged. It is what it is. And frankly one does not have to travel far to see my positive traits in this forum. And it's not hard to figure out the only people I really look down on in any serious capacity, are people that refuse to take advice, or refuse to actually improve their ship, while maintaining an air of superiority and self importance.
Lots of hostility and no substance. Is that what you want to contribute to this thread? I mean, hey, if you can only feel awesome by poiinting out how much inferior you think others are, well, have fun. But publicly? That's just bad for your reputation.
Back to topic: The new flight deck doffs might influence carrier builds for PvP significantly - but then again, I find myself rarely using anything else but the "Attack" and "Return" orders. "Intercept" and "Escort" are usually not worth the effort. Or what do you think?
no, i like the current topic: how not to build a carrier: starring everyone's favorite target, sophlogimo
everyone thinks your an idiot. its great for me, being known as one of the nicest guys on STO PVP, to let loose on a nubtard like you and NOT lose a bit of cred with my people. i get to troll the hell out of you, its great fun, and great fun for my boys like roach who get to read the awesomeness of your fail posts and everyone elses responses.

hey mods, i might need a point or forum suspension.....
I find myself rarely using anything else but the "Attack" and "Return" orders. "Intercept" and "Escort" are usually not worth the effort. Or what do you think?
WRONG!
Escort has two major uses, with support hangars and also for breaking range limitations.
Lets say "joe blow the escort publet" decides he needs to run away because the other team is using 8th party hax. Now you have a serious issue on your hand as a "support dude", you can either go "yeah run you moron, I'm over here in the whale with the heals!" or you can plop your hangars to escort the runner in most cases (aka when the game isn't being TRIBBLE) you can get your hangars to go beyond 15k, the exact distance varies but basically you can slap your hangars to escort a runner and have them harass any people following him.
Escort can also be useful when you are way to busy paying other attention to other stuff to micro your pets heavily. Slap it on escort on an escort (divide by zero much?) and generally they will be more useful than if you just left them on attack and kept pumping them out.
Usually I do this for afew seconds when I feel I will need to swap to a more support based setup. Aka whenever I swap to my 100aux preset I usually toss my pets on escort since I will be doing ALOT of targeting to ALOT of different people which can sometimes make pets on attack be stupid if you have to redeploy while doing this.
Intercept is good, not using intercept is dumb. Are you getting spammed into oblivion by mines and fighters? It might be a good time to swap to peregrines, stalkers, toduj, or bops, and toss them on intercept. They can pop all those annoying little mines, generally help minimize the power of opposing pets, and they are FULLY automated.
No need to swap targets or anything.
Mostly this is useful when you are out numbered on a spam side of things. Its the most niche of the commands but still useful but mostly dependent on the matchup.
To put this in perspective I am usually trying to micro my pets pretty heavily unless I am getting focus fired (stupid input delay can get you pwned ). Fighters namely peregrines/toduj will pay out nice damage numbers simply with some basic micro to make sure they make the most of there second cannon/torp as often as they can.
Making sure (or attempting to anyhow) that stalkers when first deployed launch at an opposing carrier to hurt/offline there aux can pay out great returns for your team.
If you don't want to micro much just go for runabouts, delta's, skul, orion "anything" (practically), and to some extent karfi frigates (impossible to micro so why bother lol).
Though if you want to run "fighters" you should micro them as much as you can.
As to good Sir. Logimo harping about tranphasic torps, "who cares?" Even if his math, methodology, and whatever else was wrong, they were still right about the premise which is "tranphasic torps suck" which they do.
Before I mained my Atrox I mostly used to run torp boat sci-ships, I tried all sorts of torp builds (fed side, wtb HG set) and transphasics "work" but in general I got the best results with quantums, photons, and even plasma's (surprisingly). Chrons are garbage damage, trico's are for spiking, and transphasics were just strictly worse than Photons, Quantums, or Plasma's.
Now with the additional bleed through change coming this could help promote them to being usable on ships other than brel's but as it stands currently they are just not really that useful.
Basically your argument is invalid, "they were wrong so I am right" doesn't work.
Its ok.
I come from large old country Nordic/german stock so eating is something I do well and keeping the wieght off just requires exercise which is free. Have no fears I will not get so fat as to waddle.
Though I do sometimes fly a BortasQu' so I already waddle in combat from time to time.
Below are some general thoughts/musings I've had involving carriers as I've been using my Escort Carrier. If you read it all, there will be cake at the end.
I've been looking at the Type 8/10 shuttles as of late and have been wodering... do they have a point in PvP besides, possibly, anti-spam counter measures?
They both have 2 Phaser Arrays, the Type 10s have Polarize Hull 1 as their sole special power.
It doesn't seem like they'd be more useful than Peregrines, aside from perhaps the fact that they can spam up the screen with more beams (2 per shuttle, up to a max of 12 for an Escort Carrier or 24 additional arrays for an Atrox, though at that point I'd think you'd be better off with a different pet for utility in the second hangar, probably Danubes).
Another thought, after flying the Escort Carrier a fair bit as of late: I think it's probably the best Escort for Science Captains thanks to their group buffing abilities (Sensor Scan is nothing if not an unable-to-be-cleared DPS boost, Sub-nuc which is STO's ultimate Dispel/Crowbar ability, Science Fleet and Scattering Field which make your pets solidly more survivable).
Last thought regarding the new pet class:
Too much spam. Look, with most pet classes, your pets are *extremely* important to your gameplay identity, and usually not treated as a throwaway resource, but something you play as much as your character (the maxim "Your pet is only as good as your ability to actively use it" applies). As it stands, pets are so ridiculously fast to redeploy in STO that they feel like disposable garbage. They're not, of course, but that's the way they come across to me.
It'd be nice if numbers were fewer and impact per pet was greater. Maybe start at the top with 1 BoP per hangar and work your way, down sizing hangars and strengthening fine control over pets... and trading BOff abilities for your pet's BOff abilities to reduce or mitigate the massive power creep that occurs from them. Y'know, having an escort with 4 copies of Tractor Beam 1/2 (with no global cooldown!) plus all its other BOff abilities is probably a *hair* overpowered. Might be better to treat pets as squadrons for command sake and let players activate the squadron's power on command.
And, hey, pets are customizable, it's like having an extra LT power slot on your ship (if you buy the D-Store versions) with additional guns.
Nerfing the Heavy Escort Carrier
Some say it needs a nerf, others say it needs a nerf hard, still more say it's the pets that need a nerf, and even a few more say it needs a buff (if you agree with the last one... I have a toaster that would look just wonderful in your bathtub with you).
I think giving it maneuverability like a Science Ship (copy-pasta RSV or DSSV specs as a starting point) might be a good place to begin. An Escort with Escort shields (I'd say keep the current hull but that's getting bumped up), science speed and handling (turn of 12-13, RSV inertia, and impulse modifier of .15) as a trade off might be enough to bring it in line to where it doesn't completely invalidate the Fleet Escort as an Escort (maybe, not entirely convinced).
The end.
What?
Why are you still here?
Oh... right....
Well, you saw this coming, right? You knew from the beginning what was really awaiting you, so don't come crying to me about not getting your reward.
Well, that is
I agree. One of the greatest problems with using a traditional big fat carrier like the Vo'Quv or the Atrox with a Sci captain is the necessity to maneuver in order to use Subnuclear Beam, which such slow ships won't be able to do.
ROFL...did you really just say that?
I guess torps have a much wider firing angle than a SNB...better us FOUR
You will, if you actually dare to try that build out in PvP, notice that you too frequently blow up with your shields up. 2.5 hull heals is not enough, even with a sci captain's defensive ability. That build should work well with an engineer captain, though.
ok....i am going to spam a few post because i cant use multi quote from diff pages. first off an engy in the carrier can tank. wow.....big deal..... better for us escourts that dont have to deal with extends and many heals. my oddy spec is aux to sif 3 et 3 extends 1 he 1 and tss2.
go try and fit that on your carrier....you will come out if your smart, very smart, awesome wtf pwn player and try epts 1 and 2 and extends. problem with that is extends is only good i believe if im correct 7.5 km? ( sorry dont play my healer much)
so the carrier is slow, cant turn all that great is and only a meat sheild with lame tractor pets
that only noobs spam...........(aimed at you SOB).........so how are you going to get your extends on escourts that fly out of range by 2 km? its not easy to turn. even with a mk11 purple rcs console. ( tryed it on my tact since it had the purple rcs)
now ill admit over 300 days and all i know mostly is an escourt and i actually stay alive more in my defiant then i do in my carrier. now my oddy is awesome. i can tank while giving out heals as long as i dont get laged by pet poo. but you...........no epts? thats crazy. my escourt has epts 1 and 2. can tank a good player, i even have tanked a whole team just because of the resits from epts with 3 purple sdo and tss2.(no borg regen)
now with my carrier i see, i need not only epts 1 and 2 because even with 1 very good escourt ( get the frig away from me fall out) my sheild facing is gone. so now i need some extra resits so i have to hit aux to sif. jam my space bar till my key board just breaks hope my stalker fighters use that ap sweep and target shields go low aux and hit tbr and hope i get a very nice crit that keeps going and hope my tbr does not get shut down by either a phaser proc to my aux or the omega is ready for use.
now my oddy will just use all 8 beams with a red matter and maybe all i need is tss2? but ill still be giving out heals while getting focused which a carrier can not do. i have yet to see that in pvp.

Would a public 1v1 que just randomly fit players together, if implemented?

Intercept. No reason not to just use that as a "Fire and Forget" situation. Give them an Acc boost too.. why not.
Vor'quv Carrier + BoP Pets + Follow = BoP Pets cloaked and ready to Alpha Strike. So why not give yourself a Defense buff?
