I was on my Bridge and attempted to beam out to tactical view and I get an error saying Couldn't Transfer Character Could someone transfer my character back to sector space.
I have been moved back to sector space.
If someone moved me Thanks and if not well thanks for all your hard work.
I'm having the same problem right now. Rator III won't let me beam back to my ship for some reason. PvP queues don't let me out either and so far I've yet to hear from a GM.
Same problem - sitting in the middle of Psi Velorum space unable to do anything at all. Any zone, battle, transwarp or instance change and it boots me to the login menu with the 'Couldn't transfer Character' message. My Alt is unaffected, and playing on the same server.
I've logged four GM tickets, some of them now outstanding for hours without any response whatsoever. This game has the most appalling GM support I have ever experienced. I have never played an MMO where GM petitioning wasn't live. Although I'm loath to mention it, even in WoW I never had to wait for more than 20 mins.
I'm a lifetime subscriber and I've put up with all the woes so far but I work 100 hours a week and have spent 120 hours on this toon - if the problem is not resolved (ie, if I lose this toon) I will be recovering all of my subscription and cancelling my account.
been having this issue on all map transfers on my char... and no response on gm requests...
Tickets can take up to 24hrs to respond to depending on the GM que. You submitted your first GM ticket less than 24hrs, but I will see where you are in the que. Submitting multiple tickets does not help get your issue addressed sooner.

thank you.
btw, It would be helpful to have that message come up in game when submitting a request... not 'a GM will contact you soon'.
just figured i would ask in here, as I have read horror stories... and i have a CO ticket that's been open for like over 200 days...I panicked.
thanks for checking on this one!
Ahhh now here is where we get in to the different types of tickets! Billing, GM, and Tech support tickets are answered in the order received, and typically within 24 hrs. Now there is one type of ticket that is never answered, this is a bug ticket. These are collected and looked at by out dev and QA teams. If they cannot reproduce the reported issue then it waits for other occurrences or additional details. These tickets never get directly answered, but if the issue is addressed then it maybe added to the release notes or some may know them as "patch notes" (depending on the severity).

now someone tells me... that's good to know. sigh. Now I have to go over there to that side and 'reclassify' my ticket as it's a full-time issue, and not one to reproduce.
Where were you when I needed you the most? *hums tune in head*
Well you averted a needless worry on my part. I appreciate it. I must say, you have been the most helpful person on the forums and in-game... from public and company side. If I could send in a letter of commendation I would.

ok, so an update here...
STILL cannot do anything on the character.
No response in e-mail, or game e-mail... and well, that just isn't cool. For something on your server's end... it really is a TRIBBLE shoot to not have access to your character.

Let me follow up with the GM's.
Edit: We moved the character again can you give it a try?
Implausible, I'm having the same issue. I believe mine was stemmed from resubscribing just recently. It would sure be nice to play. My ticket is over 17 hours old.
This Problem Is A Nuisance. 3 Days I Have Been Stuck In The Sol System. One Week For My Fleetmate Jonah. Other People Have Been Waiting To Have This Resolved As Well. I Am Going To Continue Being Patient. But I Will Wait To Speak To Someone Live. I Am Requesting Jonah Be Compensated For The Week He Has Not Been Able To Play And I Be Compensated For The 3 Days Now Going On 4 I Have Not Been Able To Play. Either That Or An Accolade Like "delta Quadrant Explorer" Should Be Given To All Of Us Who Endured This With Understanding. It Is Only Fair. Please Fix This. A Players Patience Is Like A Steel Bar. It Can Be Tough.... But With Enough Pressure Applied Over The Right Amount Of Time It Will Eventually Bend. And After Bending So Much You Will Eventually Be Left With A Broken Player.
Same here. When Spock finishes his introduction and it zooms in on what I think is my beginning ship I get the "Couldn't transfer character" message. SOS,mayday, help me please.
I have exactly the same problem. This is my first time with STO and I can't play since Saturday. I've submitted a ticket, hopefully it will get answered tomorrow.
In meantime i tried running game trough US/EU proxies, running a Safe login, verifying files, disabling/uninstalling Firewall (since i have to reinstall in anyway), changing configuration of my router, changing DNS servers to see if this will get me any better route to Cryptic servers ( i read somewhere that this was a problem at some point) all this with no positive results. I'm running out of options right now...
If only I would now what causes this maybe I could find some workaround...
STO logs shows
Couldn't transfer character(997) (socket error 997: Unknown socket error)
My character is still stuck on Qu'Nos, guess they are punishing me for calling my Klingon Justin Bieber. Its but its been 3 days now, I've have been moved once which worked for about an hour, since then the same problem with the same toon has occurred. As of yet I've updated my Ticket twice with no replay, and created a new one with only a copy and paste replay. Please sort it out.
Can't speak for others of course, but this is what worked for me.
I got stuck on the mission 'Everything old is New', on the part where I had to take the portal to 23rd.
Everytime I tried to enter the portal back in time, I got the well known message:
'Couldn't transfer character' and then I got logged out.
Sucked pretty much, since I was about to level up from level 19 to 20, trying to beat my son who is level 22 atm. Grrrrmbl-feelings, I can tell you.
So what I did:
- Beamed up to ship
- Changed Instance (Top right on the minimap,left-click servername #3, chose another instance)
- Went back into the portal
And that worked for me, I was a happy player again.
Maybe something to try out before asking the Support team, but I still think this bug (or what we officially call a Problem in IT-world -when such a big user group is having a recurring incident over a large period of time- ) needs to be looked into since I see this problem popping up the fora for years already, with some players even getting so angry about it that they say they want to leave the game after spending hours of work in their characters.
I keep this message each time I try to go into Fluidic Space on the mission Fluid Dynamics. Digging around and could not find anyone else having the issue...or people are addressing the problem differently than I am looking.
Though I gave up and skipped it as I don't know if it is really a major bug or I am just cursed?. Yet mission out on that bit of story is a bit depressing as I've worked out greatly long all the stories not skipping one but that one.
Though out of all of the game. This is the first Major bug that I ran across. Yet the annoying Lock boxes are another matter...they are as bad as Tribbles...or maybe they are Tribbles.

Beyond unimpressed.

soon tends to make one think soon.
edit: missed the 'k' in thank.
Well if there isn't a back log of tickets then they can get to you soon. It just depends.
lol, right on!

Just trying to do my job. Helping users as I can!

Worked like a champ that time. Thank you so much.
Now, I can play again!!
Thanks in advance.

STO logs shows which is not very helpfully

Went to rescue the SS Azura and as I approached the area to start the mission, I got a Couldn't transfer character error message.
Do you try to reinstall the game?
Having that problem too. Maybe I'll verify game files and see what happens.
Pls Help!!!
First with 'State of Q', going into the 'Saratoga' Stage.
And again with 'Out in the Cold', after completing the first stage and moving to the Zenia system.
Can we get some kind of update on this?
