It's not a way of discrimination. It's not what I meaned. I just mean. If I notice the guy is dying every minute and if he has low score. I conclude he's a new unexperienced and not a rerole.
No discrimination in my words. Just simple constations.
You sound like you need to team up with me someday for PUG diplomacy lol. A good morning and a blue healing beam never fails to brighten their day
Kinda off topic, but how is you Tac Officer set up for Ground STF's?
Now on topic, I will share a new tale of fail:
I was playing my Klingon Tactical Officer in Infected Space Elite and at first things went well. We were doing the mission with time to spare, my Qin Raptor was swooping in with Distruptor cannons blazing blowing up borg all over the place.
Then disaster struck once the Tac Cube showed up. Everyone went straight for the Cube and ignored the Spheres....until we all started getting blown up left and right (although it took the cubes some time to kill my Raptor)
so after a few deaths, I switched tactics and started acting like a beefier Bird of Prey. I would go in, shoot the spheres a bit and when things started getting too hairy, I would clean off plasma, hit evasive and wait for the red alert to go away before cloaking out and setting up another attack run. Eventually we were able to clear out the spheres and start attacking the Tactical Cube.
No optional, but I did feel a bit of personal pride in using my ship to it's fullest potential and compensating for no Battle Cloak.
I admit the fails can be rather entertaining. There is only one way to succeed and so many ways to fail!
As for my ground setup - I don't have a full Omega set yet so I just redneck engineer my way to 'adequate' levels of DPS and survivability. I'm using the Jem'Hadar set for the Combat Triage Subroutine and shroud. Very useful to survive/avoid being one-shotted. Since I can't get people on my friend's list to do joint runs I rely on self-healing first and foremost.
Jem'Hadar rifle is also remarkably powerful against Borg at long range although be prepared to remodulate often. But when you do fire on a drone its health drops rapidly esp with the usual Tactical buffs.
You can also get boatloads of those Damage Resistance Boosters and Shield/Energy boosters off the exchange for cheap - they drop out of those accursed Ferengi boxes and find their way in droves on the Exchange.

.
Agreed - have only played ground STF's once or twice, but have to admit at being amused when watching the 'charge in with rifle blazing' sort jump off a platform and get shot down/killed before they even hit the ground.
Indeed, thats why my Science Officer on Ground Stf's is the Medic. Mk X Medic Kit is a blessing when you're a Tactical Officer and you're about to die, then find yourself fully healed so you can keep shooting.
And to save your own ***, the MACO Ground Set is king, especially the Emergency Shield Capacitor.
For Weapons, I use the MACO Battle Rifle. Secondary Weapon is a Polaron Pulsewave Rifle

For my next character I don't see any alternative but to play a science in a cruiser. Maximum heals everywhere!

disagree...for tactical omega is king. paired with the operative kit. you lunge the target...pull out your pulsewave, hit the shroud, and retreat. 2 times that, paired with the other buffs the operative kit has, and you take out tactical drones like a BOSS!
to the topic: rainbow cruisers in general!^^ but if they are a commander tier, like i experianced it, thats really as far as it can go. and that was an elite stf infected space...
i wrote in the team chat if he was serious about his ship and elite stf's, no response. Then i gnored him and was done with it.
PS: we did it anyway, but without optional and the guy forgot his loot...ofcourse!
As engineer. For ground stf I use 2 kits. Bunker Fabrication and Enemy Neutralization. For the first part of ground STF, Bunker fabrication is really useful especialy medical regenerator. When it's time to meet the mob. Also it depends the mob. I use Enemy neutralization. Both of these kit have medical regenerator which is helpful for teammate.
My set is maco X with the gun and polaron gun. I liked the jem'hadar set but the gun needs too much remodulation. It's not useful when it's time to fight the mob. Due I'm engineer I'm always in the second line. I can't fight on the front line and give support building turrets in the same time
My klingon rerole is a scientist. It's really interesting. Scientist gives another way to play another kind of enjoyment.

Well my main character isn't a Iactical officer, so I'll keep my M.A.C.O
Most likely means accolade score for the character, which means nothing to me.
How good the player is, is evident from their ingame actions. No discrimination this way
It means a lot to me along with ingame actions. A low accolade means Instant Admiral. It usually means a failboat. Every now and then they've done their research and actually fly right. But that's only every now and again...
I'm no fan of Cryptics Instant Admiral process.
Back on topic, KINDA...
I did a CSN yesterday and actually had all the cubes dead in under 5 minutes. 'Holy Dooky' I said.... No oddys, no Rainbow Technicolor Beams, no Skittle Cannons and the Kang never got a scratch!!!
Just 5 great and mighty Escorts with intelligent, experienced Captains!
Yesterday, after five minutes in queue to Cure Ground Elite, the game sent me to a empty game, already started, alone, with 7 minutes to end of optional. I left the game and receive a nice gift: 1 hour ban.
The worst STF experiences usually involve people that are unable or too lazy to watch their surroundings and react to things. Like 3 escorts wailing away at transformers while two cruisers clearly cannot stop all the nanite spheres and probes that spawn.
I also hate with a passion when I'm guarding the Kang and the four guys taking out the cubes just won't kill the BoPs or Raptors spawning right next to them.
I also hate when my level 46 sci captain in a Vor'cha clearly does the most DPS in a group.
I hate when people knock around the carrier.
I hate escorts firing beam arrays and zipping around the map like retarted mosquitos while autofiring mines all over the place without them ever hitting something.
I hate dying next to cruisers that have an aversion to healing team members.

You're right. I hate healing tac/escort and they let me alone with a sphere and die... My dreadnought doesn't turn like an escort is turning and spheres likes to shot me in my back.:p

Well I hate those guys too Some people think they're too good to shoot spheres or something. Some people happily ignore everything but mission objectives and rely on their team members mopping up after them. Hate!
started a elite stf on kit waiting in the q then the it started to loas me in and ended up in cure normal that had been finshed and had to wait 15 mins befor the leave sector came up
second wierd one was out side ds9 joind a stf q for kit started got discoonected and loged back in and i was out side esd and all timers on stfs were reset to 59mins wait time

I've been accused too many times of camping when I protect the Kang or kill the incomming stuff. So I kill a node or two and then look back to see what's needed.
I agree completly on the knock around stuff. There's been dozens of times when I'm setting 4k off from the carrier and have someone push it away. It's senseless.
I also agree completely on the mines and plasma. Around the carrier??? Why!!! Totally senseless.
Out of curiosity, does the accolade score transfer between characters?
I've got 6 admirals, and I've done thousands of STF runs, but my latest one has only been active for a few weeks. If his accolade score shows as low, would you dismiss me as an "instant admiral"?
unless I'm mistaken, each toon has his own accolade score, in which case, my low accolade admiral is probably more capable than admirals with twice the points, simply from my experience as the person controlling said character. Yes, his accolade score may be in the high 2000s, but I fly no skittle ships, and the only reason his accolade score is low is that I simply haven't used the character as often as the others.
I had an interesting time last night in an Infected Space (Elite) Run. Polished off the first three defenders with little issue. then we all made for the eft group as per usual, with reassurances all around we'd hold to the 10% rule. After knocking out the left side cube, we set to work on the Generators. Needless to say, we weren't as coordinated as we would have liked and faile dthe optional since one person blew his generator early., we clean up the first set of probs and take out the left side main generator. at this point we start to work on the second set of left side spheres. I notice that the same guy who had blown his generator early was now on teh right hand side working on the cube there. leaving four of us to clean u teh left side spheres. So needless to say that took longer than expected. After clearing the left side, we started work on teh right, where that same Oddy was still working on the right side Cube. At this point this guy who can't take down a Non-Tac Cube by himself, starts talking about the low DPS coming out of us, when he's barely getting 500 dps with his Oddy, and my MVAM is doing nearly 2000 dps. We manage to drop the right side relatively painlessly, but while clearing up the right side sphere's same guy keeps on about our low DPS, while he's not even firing. I mention this to him, and he actually said, he needed to get out of the battle to type. Where in I mentioned my MVAM had it's nose buired in a sphere in with guns blazing, and I was still typng. After that it just got into his questioning our parentage while he's off the side of teh battle and the rest of us were dying left and right. And of course he's "needing" every drop. He was on my ignore list before the end of the battle.
well today the cure is totaly muffed up did 3 runs so far all failed this is how
we started and moved to the probs and started killing them then team on to the war bird ( hitting stupid amounts 3 time i got hit 200k+) but anyway we killed it moved to the next set of probs (at this point reread the start 3 times)
now we at the cubes with no probs hit the 1st cube pop there ment to get 3 ships spawn at the 2 cubes yes (no we end up having 6 ships spawn from all 3 cubes WTF) anyway by some god knows magic we killed them move cube pop it OMFG WTF 6 ships(negh'var's) from each cube station ???? WTF going on well all i can say is we died no hope in hell we can kill 18 war birds(negh'var's) hitting bs and one shot wounders
I took down 4 generators, a transformer, fought off the 2 spheres, kept away the probes coming out the gate and then dropped the gate in the time it took 3 other players to kill 2 spheres, yes they took that long, why were they even in the game if they had no firepower???
I ran The Cure ground elite a few days ago. I usually do the space ones, but I have started picking up tech for ground missions so I am trying to play them more. Anyhow, I got in a PUG with three people who actually seemed to know each other. The other random player we were with fit the "instant admiral" model talked about above. He'd gone in there with a Jem Hadar rifle and basically had no clue what he was doing, but I, on the other hand, did. I was kitted out with the MK XI Omega set plus a MXII borg sniper rifle on top. I put in a good contribution and it eneded up being me who had to take Armek out with my sniper rifle at the end. Despite this I the little clique of three grouped me in with the "instant admiiral" the whole time, constantly insulting us both, and after I had taken out Armek myself I was told, rather arrogant, to "go and get the MKXI set before bothering to come back to an ellite, even though I had the maximum stuff I could have without tech and had taken out the boss single-handedly.
I felt really, really low after that. It's probably the first time that anyone's behaviour in an STF did bother me. I was made to feel like a little child in the playground, even though I am, in fact, 35 years old! I just didn't get why they had to be so nasty when I had done my bit and was as string as I could be. It just felt uncalled for.
I got stuck in two in a row ISEs with the same Klink.
He'd rant about the 10% then he blew up his node early then race off to the other side without helping with the mess on the first side.
I pretty much think he did it on purpose both times.
Funny, I had a klingon in KASE who sounds the same. Thought he was a hero, tried to sole one side himself, messed it all up and then started behaviing arrogantly when he was asked to work with the team.
