Well, usually when this comparision is made, people point out that just covers you for one dinner on one evening. While a month of subscription means you can play every night of the month (and more, if you wish to.)

Now, if you're really hungry, you should go for the meal, but if you're just doing it for entertainment and fun, then an MMO is a bargain.

Then factor in the 30 dollars required to buy the box where I come from, then the monthly subscription...big moneysink, don't you think? That's why I only got STO (for about 25 dollars as I was unaware of the full implications of F2P, and bought a pair of boxes) after F2P came along.

What restaurant can you go to for a 5 dollar dinner? I wouldn't want to go to one of those without some Pepto.

Denny's? Maybe? Best guess I have. There are some local "diners" around here that still offer a 5 dollar breakfast deal after midnight.

For me, i wasn't lead away, I left. Simply because I can do more in TOR than I can in STO, and I don't need a foundry to do it.

As far as Cryptic goes, I have come to realize they are to be regarded with much skepticism and for lack of a better word distrust. The Recent revelation from them about the "intents" has seriously soured me on them, They can't be trusted anymore, which is tragic. I wouldn't say Cryptic is dying per se, but they definitely are NOT doing things to help themselves now.

yes, because EA/BioWare has been SO foprthcoming about everything in SWToR with regard to graphocs issues, their own engine and UI limitaions, and NEBVER spin anyhing... oh, wait..

My point: YOu should ALWAYS be skeptical of anything said by a game development company be it Cryptic, EA (especcially EA given their track record), BioWare, Blizzard, SOE, et. al.

The reps and developers interacting are friendly, but not your friiend per se at the end of the day because in the end, they want you to purchase their product and continue to use it. That's just business; and I've yet to see ANY developer be really and absolutely transparent (and Cryptic has been more than most in the past, but again, ANY developer is going to downplay and spin the not so good stuff and really seel the popular stuff.)

personally I don't find Cryptic any better or worse then BioWare or Blizzard in regard to spin and promotion; but after all the issues with SWToR high rez textures and other engine deficincies that they constantly claim are end user issues, etc; I don't see BioWare as any morte or less 'trustworthy' then Cryptic (and EA has NEVER been a trustworthy development company.)

    Just saying.

But doesn't the sub cost $15 per month?

That's still a relatively low priced meal.

    Except maybe at Waffle House.

No need to be rude about it, Solomace. Personally I gotta agree with .dlp.mercenary. I mean no disrespect to SWTOR. I'm sure it's a great game. I just don't think any game is worth $180 a year.

Now how did I miss this response.

Hmmm, let me see. Someone enjoying a game but doesn't want to pay for the game, yet I'm enjoying the game and I have to pay for it? Why else do you think I said what I said.

I see that you are new to STO and didn't pay for the box or subscribe eh?

It's what it's worth to you. Obviously he didn't enjoy TOR enough to buy the game and sub, where as 1 mil + had no problem. What makes him so special?

Either he waits until it goes F2P (If) or he acknowledges that he has to buy the game to continue playing.

I take it STO wasn't that good that you were prepared to pay and sub eh?

But having said all that, TOR is still 10 times better than STO and I am enjoying the game immensely, so they can pretty much do as they want and say what they want at the moment. A bit like you use to let Cryptic do for over a year no?;)

If/when I get to the stage I am with STO, then I might think differently but right now I don't

Forgive me if I don't put much stock in what you say about TOR, because your mantra before it was released was "its got a rail shooter for space combat" and " Its a failure" which I believe you had to back track on.

You "claim" you still play TOR, but you do go out of your way to trash it.

At least I don't play STO when I Trash it;)

Well, according to a player statistics news blog I read quite some time ago, between 95% - 99% of MMO players are male. So statistical average says, between 95% - 99% of in-game romances ARE same sex romances.

You can't have a Sith Inquisitor on the Republic side, only the race options I think. For instance if you raise a Chiss to level 50 you can unlock the Chiss race for the Republic, but not any class options. At least I think that's how it works, it's been a while since I saw the video

    Correctomundo.

I'm sure it's you can have any "race" on any side playing any class, if you have reached 50 already in that particular race (why did I pick boring human), or if you have enough mucho dosho.

However I could be wrong, which I also think is highly likely!!!

i find that statistic highly unlikely. reports put female gamers at around 40%. i would be shocked if they then had such an aversion to playing mmo's in particular to drop it down to 1-5%.

bioware have had same sex relations in a few games. its probably not a priority but why do you say never?

There will also be a way to unlock races by paying for them once you reach a certain legacy level, IIRC.

Mind you, I am talking in-game money. Not real world money like in some other game I know that alraedy required paying for ton of stuff with real world despite not having voice overs or 2 fully fledged factions while it was still costing the same amount as TOR.

Well like I said, it was quite a while ago. Years ago in fact.
Games, MMOs in particular, in my own opinion, in more recent years, have been produced to be less gender specific/oriented and targted towards males.
Unless there is a census of most all MMOs to poll the exact ratio of male to female players, the total truth of it will be elusive. Combined with the anonimity of the internet...

He hasn't made one not yet. The perversion in the SW verse is a dude strong in the Force still trying to mac on his twin sister. ;)

But the Force either stopped him or he wasn't as strong in the FORCE as Jaime Lannister.

I know the lead guy for TOR said last year that it was never happening.

But yeah, I don;t want to see this thread consumed in flaes, so I thin kwe all should just dicuss 1.2 and other things.
