Big thanks. Experiencing the same issue. Closed teamviewer and now I'm golden. As a side note, splashtop remote desktop doesn't seem to cause issues.

After some troubleshooting, it should be noted that Teamviewer will only crash your game if you're currently logged into the Contacts panel. when you hit "Login" on the launcher.

Opening it back up directly afterwards causes no issues, even while the launcher is still up.

Teamviewer has a feature called "QuickConnect Button". Once you log into your contacts, it automatically reserves or injects itself into .dll calls on all running applications.

STO launcher seems to be crashing while trying to access a .dll which Teamviewer's service has modified (or is reserving, not sure which).

Options>Advanced>Quick Connect Button> Add Exception for "Star Trek Online.exe" without the quotes, or just disable QuickConnect altogether.

    That should fix it.

Edit: I wish I could find the crash logs for STO launcher. I had to attach a disassembler to figure out what was going on. Was overkill. Looking at the Teamviewer logs shows the release of the .dll's on running applications after logging out of contacts. Whoops.

Please send in a ticket to Tech Support with the following information so we can try to figure this out for you.

It'll be helpful to us if you tell us some of your computer's information, and include any screenshots of any bugs or errors that you get.

    1) What is the make and model number of your computer?

    2) Please also tell us whether you are running a 32bit or 64bit version of Windows. You can find out in Windows by going here: Start > Control Panel > System & Maintenance > System. Then look under System > System Type. It will then display 32bit Operating System or 64bit Operating System. Include that info with the info we ask for below.

    3) To create a dxdiag log, go to Start, click on Run, then type in dxdiag and press Enter. Click on Save All Information as a text file (on your Desktop as an example.
If you are using Vista or 7, go to the Start Menu, click on the Search menu and type dxdiag.exe.

    4) Attach the dxdiag.txt that you save to your reply to us.

If you have a 64bit system, please click on the 64bit Dxdiag/DirectX button to save the correct log file.

This is important so that we can do our best to help you.

    Good Morning,

Yesterday I just started to play and I logged off to eat. When I came back to play again it didn't load. When I double click the desktop icon a small box appears "trying to update cryptic auto launcher". Occasionally the launcher loads but then it says that it cannot connect to the website and to try again later. Or if it does load properly when I click engage nothing happens. I am not sure what else to do.

    Thank you for any help.

Also I seem to have issues with the STO website. Sometimes it will load properly and work, other times it tells me it is not available. It is all a matter how often I push F5 to refresh. I have looked through the website and the FAQ to find out more information and nothing really helped.

I can not log on or even got the launcher. All I get is the auto update tries to connect 2 times then it says patch server not connecting.

I also cannot log on to the website main page.

Worked fine before I went to work yesterday and came home last night and just the never ending process if trying to connect to the patch server.

Now I know it's not my PC as my Laptop has the exact same issue. So its something along the route between us and cryptic.

The error in the error log is :-

120813 22:33:45 1 [1]: Launcher PCL Error The connection was idle for too long

Tried disabling my firewall and still nothing.

All my other games work fine but really wanted get some STO time in and cant, any ideas what to do?

I was having this problem. I changed the option in the launcher from Proxy: None to Proxy: US and the game launched.

cannot connect to webpage at startrekonline.com

I've turned off firewall and AVG and still cannot connect

I've been having this issue for a couple of days now. I restarted my computer, and no avail. I'm playing STO through Steam, though I'm unsure if that matters. Everything else connects just fine. So I know it is not my internet connection.

Sadly this has been happening since May, I signed back up because the other night it was working again. I tried the launcher 20 times just to be sure, then the next day I get the window that its trying to connect to patch server. I dont get it, if I wait until 6 or 7 EST the game will work 90% of the time, the rest of the day is iffy, I wish we could get some answer from Cryptic on whats causing this, if I have to cancel again I wont be back.

For all the good it will do I sent another email off to support, I really dont think they care. But they will have to notice eventually when noone can log in anymore, this really is annoying. We will see what develops but if I have to cancel again I will not come back until I know this is fixed and even then, lots of new and better games are coming along.

I called my ISP (which is never fun) this morning just in case it was an issue on their end of course they deny any blocking or issues from them so there's that. <.<

Still cannot connect to the patch server (its past 36 hours since I've had this issue) autoupdate hangs and will not connect.

ERROR file reads : 120815 14:02:39 1 [1]: Launcher PCL Error The connection was idle for too long

Can't connect to www.startrekonline.com get HTTP Error 504 (Gateway Timeout): The gateway or proxy server timed out while waiting for a response from an upstream server.

I've dumped way to much money into the C-Store to just rage quit, this needs to be fixed I don't care if its just a few of us. Hell I was going to get the new ship that comes out this week but if I can't access the game I'm certainly not dumping any money into it.
