Well most mages know the 3 first damaging spells (gush, pyrogram and stone rain) are a must, 3 shields eventually but you're only gona be using stone shield and glacial embrace the most so those 2 first, imo sandstorm is a great skill, high dmging, divine pyro is also good but sandstorm gives a lot more damage, so id say…

I think it's fine the way it is because, there arent many situations 1v1 were you have 6 seconds to stand still and do a couple skills before you get stunned, slept, seal w/e, sutra out of macro is much more flexible and i have no problem using sutra without marco, its usually 4-5 spells depending on timing.
