So this is the projection of my wizard at level 100 with gear i already currently own.

I avoided using items that would bind to the character as this wizard is still an alt to me. I would appreciate it if anyone knew a good way to increase its hp without sacrificing too much of any stat. I was thinking of shaving off some pdef for hp gear but i cant really find suitable substitutes.

only planning to go to +5 on armors and immaculate shards are top. as for sockets. i'll probably just go up to 3 sockets unless it comes out with more. Remember, this is my alt.

I think you have too much defense and not enough hp, you dont get much of a dmg reduction between 10k and 12k phy defense so something like this? since you're rich the rings shouldn't be a problem and since you're demon mage you need to stack some crite as well since demon focuses on getting spells out faster and doing more spike dmg..

the rings are okay, but i avoided that sword because it would bind to that character and my main wouldnt be able to use it.

and i went demon, because i figured better survival> better damage

i also always prefered chi drain to increase chi

if you get the 15 gold cs item, you can switch bound items between characters on the same account. You cant be a good wiz, without those bound items. If you are serious about wiz, you need to play it with everything. If not, just go back to you "main".

Uh well i dont see many situations were the chi drain is usefull, especially in 1v1, ithink i prefer to be doing dmg than draining chi so i do prefer the chi increase instead, and like i said above you need to increase your crite rate and HP getting that 99 sleeve is a good idea as well since it adds channeling and Hp but it does bound..

well i like to gimp barbs because they suck without chi, same goes for wizards. the chi drain goes off at a higher rate than the chi gain taunt so most of the time i can keep them under 1 chi bar. and a barb without armma cant kill.

this is actually just some spare gear from my veno. its pdef set to be exact

and these characters are on separate accounts.

I thought of getting the lunar rings but those things are expensive. maybe i'll craft some crit 2 rings as i work on nirvana rings, hopefully those are tradable.

Can I have this account for Christmas? :D

Just look around at some of the other mage builds that are here on the forums -- they'll tell you pretty much everything you need to know. I wouldn't hesitate to use bound gear, though. Mages are pretty gear dependent, in all honesty, and without good gear you probably aren't gonna make much of a difference.

    100% agreed.

Wizard isn't the best choice for "just-an-alt" to be honest :p

i have looked at the stickied guides but unfortunately most of them are out of date and designed for low level play. and yes, i know that the best gear will be bound but i'm trying to keep every armor accessible to my main. i dont feel like the armor i have chosen is particularly bad. its good enough and has better stats than most wizards in pwi. what i'm looking for is some cheap/moderately priced substitutions that will increase my hp/crit rate.

atm, i'm currently leaning toward a hybrid build opposed to to pure magic. any mages have any experience with that?

    Yes:
Restatted to pure MAG, got oneshot by a terrible barb's perdition crit, restatted again and hit the same barb for 16k. I'd stick with some base vit even at 100, if you can't refine a lot. Unless you want to rely on skills like Absolute Domain.

I got 35 base Vit now, plan to get 50 at lvl 90. Never felt gimped in damage though, ability to tank few hits makes killing others much easier.

well i'm thinking a hybrid build with high channeling to compensate for the damage reduction. hoping to get the same amount of dps tho
