Well as ive seen a lot of people have said that the stickied guides just plain out suck and im looking for what skills to get. I know everybody said that seraphims guide is amazing but he doesnt explain what skills to get and what lvl to put them as. So im wondering if any of those stickied guides are worth looking at skills wise.

Well most mages know the 3 first damaging spells (gush, pyrogram and stone rain) are a must, 3 shields eventually but you're only gona be using stone shield and glacial embrace the most so those 2 first, imo sandstorm is a great skill, high dmging, divine pyro is also good but sandstorm gives a lot more damage, so id say divine pyro atlevel 6 or so then max sandstorm asap, FOW is a great skill when your able to upgrade it enough to get 4 sec or more on it ( in any sort of PVP is what i mean ) hailstorm and will of phoenix is very very usefull in the Public Quest if you're soloing and cant use dragons breath quite often so they are both worth upgrading, Dragons Breath is also a very usefull skill in instance, and aoe parties or Public Quest, it's a must have at max lvl, glacial snare is high dmging but you cant really get it at a good level until later on so dont use much sp/coin upgrading this in early lvls and your masteries give good damage bonuses, if you can they should be upgraded when ever possible.

Black ice dragon strike, mountain seize and blade tempest are all great skills for mages, get blade tempest upgraded first because it's very usefull against magic res mobs and robe users as well as la, BIDS and MS is a toss up imo, BID does more dmg but MS gives a very reliable stun, at 85+ you should try maxing everything, i havent upgraded my dots so i cant give much info on how usefull they are, hope my wall of text was usefull.

One more thing, the 79 skills for mage are all fantastic, try getting in following order if possible, Undine Strile >Sporphic Whisper > Elemental Shell.

yea... the guides here suck. most of them are written by low leveled mages that know nothing about endgame pvp. and they are outdated, because a lot of the stuff they recommend is no longer relevent with the new weapons/ornaments available. as for skill interpretations, a lot of them are actually wrong.

i would just read up on ecatomb.net for skills.

as for tactics, best way to learn is watch people that already know.
unfortunately, 2/3 of pwi pvp videos are fail. you are better watching videos from pwj and pwm.

First off dont listen to this guy, oracle noob who also knows nothing about his class.

Each of the guides give a good grounding about wizard skills, and builds etc...

An for starters your first three attacking skills pyrogram, gush, and stone rain you cant go wrong.
You could read each of the stickeys word for word, i could tell you exactly what i did early on, what worked, what didnt, what i do now.
But you wanna know the best way to learn your class and about skills? its to actually try things out yourself, and see what works for you.

Ofcourse tips from others always help, hell even im still learning, but only you can discover what works for you, no one else can tell you this.

Honestly, the reason why you don't really want to put a set-in-stone skill progression in a guide is because it's different with everybody. Some people might go with SS right away as their DD spell, get earth mastery 10, go **** things with SR and SS.

Some might want to go water.
    Some might go fire
Some might be rich enough to get all the skills maxed at whatever level they are.

i thought the best way to learn was to oracle to 98 then make a thread called "how 2 play mage"

coming from an oracled-nub.... I would take it with a pinch of salt....

To our dear Special-mats... you will always be the oracled-nub and perhaps, you would like to stop saying anything about mages since you know nothing much about?

Dare to oracle another mage on PVP server and see if you can survive the gankings with your pvp knowledge of mages?

    Oh well.... b:bye

Fortunately for wizards, there aren't too many skills that are totally useless. Some are more important than others, but most of them have their uses.

Fool proof way to know what skills to level: Get it when it becomes available, test it out to see if you like it or not.

for the OP's question: Pandora's skill guide (it's stickied here, can't miss it) is still the best you'll get.

That "oracle noob" is one of the best WFs on his server(yar he has another lv 100 character); his mage rebirth delta guide is a freakin' bible; and I hear his tideborn should be lv 100 fairly soon as well. You're playing a lv 77 mage and, like most of the people posting nonsense about momo's style, probably just jealous he's got the in-game coins to level like that... it's really too pathetic for y'all to be hatin' on him, but whatev- suit yourself.

regardless of how good his other characters may be i can't take him seriously after he oracles to 98 then makes a thread asking how 2 play mage, then makes a second one after people flame him, and he wonders why people flamed him lolol

i don't have a problem with oraclers, it's just too funny to oracle up to 98 then make a thread called how 2 play mage
