    well that's just dumb, no charm is needed for soul. just somebody with some basic intelligence. i did fine in a party vs 1-2 soul at lvl 61 and had 0 problem with it at all and i've got no charm mp or hp (cleric btw). it just takes some basic survival tactics like 1 pot here or there, a dmg reduction charms when he gets low (cheap to buy or make). it's really not as hard as you people make it seem. (it was 1-2 full squad and high)If a squishy type char can pull it off so easily so early withought hp/mp charm then it sure as hell don't need a charm for it. try it and find out if you fail to badly then learn to play and not rely on good gear.

    what the heck? what sort of soul was this? is this the same soul that would 1shot a BB cleric if he/she had less than 3k hp buffed? cuz i been in squads where the BB cleric just goes splat without warning...

    edit: ohhh damage redux charms...but i'd say souls' requirement is more hp of party involved rather than charm or no

    If the Squad has a barb or bm to tank, cleric to heal , and aslong as the Veno knows how to lure it doesnt matter what pet she/he has IMO.

    I would rather Squad with a good veno without a Herc than a bad one with.

    I as a barb always want a veno in squad.Good DD,bramble,curses shall I say more?

    As for pets I'm pretty sure a cub with all DT skills+bless can be as good as a herc.

    Hercs can be helpful but I prefer to use my turocs if I don't have to be the one tanking the boss. If I'm tanking then I pull out my herc. But they are just too common. Everyone has them how many people do you see with unusual pets. Plus it was a pain to collect to sof needed and then getting it caught up in lvl so that it is of some use is a major pain in the butt.

    Well I have a herc and while it is good for making the money back you spent on it.... it cannot hold aggro worth anything when I mostly squad with archers and wizards... so it's aggro pinball. Heck a few attacks from me and I steal aggro off it.

    In FF I just nuke monsters and hit bramble hood... far more useful than using the herc to tank them lol
