I'm sorry that so many players are angered by this sale, however as I do not make the decisions I am not going to give you answers about things that I can't promise. It would be much more productive if you left your concerns in a civil manner without killing the messenger, because that actually runs counter to your own intentions.

Thank you, Spoons. This is the kind of response I've been waiting for. Quite simply, as you put it, you do not make the decisions, meaning, no matter what happens, the final result comes from someone over your head. But, at least it proves something, which a lot of us have been asking ourselves. "Does someone actually listen, and care?"

In posting this, you have shown us that A. YOU are listening, and B. YOU actually understand that we are angry about this. Which means, hopefully, maybe, just maybe, this will be passed on above your head, and above several heads to the point where someone who actually does make the decisions will realize that the latest group of decisions they've been making is really annoying their loyal player base. And then, if things fall into place, they'll start putting the game back to a point where everyone is enjoying it again, and starts telling their friends, and we bring you what you want, which is loyal customers, while you give us what we want, which is fun.

This is the last post I'm going to make here in a while, because as much as people are requesting that I respond, it always ends up with no progress being made and people attacking what I say.

The reason this thread is still open is simple. Even if every one of the 1,081 posts in this thread were made by a different player (which they were not), this still does not represent the majority of the player base.

If I close it now, I am preventing the rest of the community who has not expressed their opinion here yet from doing so.

If I leave it open, yeah I'm going to get yelled at, but I'm giving people a chance to share their own opinions without saying "oops you don't use the forum regularly, you missed your opportunity to comment, bye."

well, i hope you dont take things too personal here :D
having an open thread for discussion is great. I suppose some got impatient due nothing was presented to us to show that someone has relayed this to the higher ups even after 112 pages of discussion.

All that we see now are sales after sales, even when some (or possibly most) of the playerbase are complaining about the nature of such sales, there has been no words from officials or even from mods to justify the lack of attention to the playerbase's feedback.

Naturally the one who is the closest to the playerbase would be bombarded by them. Well, its hard job on you but keep up the good work :D

PS: i really do hope that some, at least just one person higher up, are aware of the discontent that some of PWI's players feel

Well... like I said in another post. I still love the game and I will still support it. I just would like to see better events. I hope those heads above listen to you and us all for equal. But oh well, I'll just enjoy the game.

ok...I am gonna be honest...i don't post to forums often and in fact, this is the second post i have done after joining pwi 5 months ago..

    anyways,
all i wanna say is in my opinion, the anni packs are wanted by about 20% of ppl playing in pwi....while the next 30% is in the middle....abt 20% don't care either way and the last 30% hate this very much....

now the question we should all ask ourselves is "Where do you belong?" in group 1,2,3, or 4?

group 1 = Make the anni packs permanent.b:chuckle
group 2 = I hate the anni packs but i m just so jealous of other ppl getting all these cool stuff from anni sale...so i m gonna spend a lil money on anni packs.b:thanks
group 3= Watever.....i nvr buy anything from boutique. b:surrender
group 4= Take this sale right now.b:angry

    The real question is this:
    Which group is right?
    my answer is none........
No comment after this...over and out....

hmm. pretty sure i'm in the presence of a fellow troll... but if so, my fellow troll is epic fail b:cute

i think this is best answered with a direct quote of your original post:

uninstall = not able to play the game = quit

I never said I wouldn't be part of PWI's community even tho I do not play the game. Get your facts right. If for you, uninstalling a game means quitting then you've got some serious issues.

If I follow your logic, when someone decides to uninstall Internet Explorer and installs Firefox it means he isn't going to browse the internet anymore. Right?

    Doesn't make sense.

Next time you post, post something worth it.

    As for the thread ->

I highly doubt letting a bunch of players discuss about the ani packs isn't a great idea. Especially when the staff says that the players replying to this topic are a minority compared to those who play the game.

    My suggestions are:
    1. Fix this ****.
or if you just don't want to
    2. Delete this thread. You're scaring players away.

    Guys stop trolling please =/

Past players are more than welcome to offer an opinion and the GM's simply said a few hundred posts only represent a minority and to please try to get your friends or non-forum posters to offer an opinion here too. Not to stop posting entirely and nothing would ever be done.

Personally I don't think even the GM's and mods approve of the packs, but they aren't the ones in charge of these things and they have no power to do anything, unless they can prove a significant number of the player base are unhappy. Bickering among ourselves, refusing to post opinions and flaming those who do and pretending you love the packs for the sake of "being different" or arguing isn't getting anyone anywhere or helping.

Just post your own honest opinion, get your friends to do the same (only takes 2 minutes) and leave it at that.

Perhaps attempting to get a representative sample of the player base in game and reporting that information to the devs might be more influential than just having a thread like this, since it's pretty clear that it doesn't really matter what people post here?

The only people that even bother post are those that are most vocal about their view point. That could be considered to be a small minority of the playing community and may not represent the entire player base well. This group alone has contributed upwards of 2 to 3 thousand posts on their viewpoint and this, alone, is considered "insufficient evidence" that the anni packs are disliked, leading to no change. Fine, totally understandable that the most vocal may not not necessarily represent the whole, so what you need is information about what the population feels as a whole.

The best way to do that is to go in game and randomly talk to the 10th person you encounter as a non-gm character (number can be changed and gm characters tend to get a lot of attention anyways, making it harder to find random people to talk to). I don't have a good estimate of how big the player base is, so talk to around 10 to 15% of the player base and that should get you a pretty good idea of what the population feels as a whole.

A more representative sample of the player base would give a more accurate idea of how people actually feel about the packs and perhaps might be more persuasive about the feelings over the anni packs rather than trying to distill the feelings of what might be considered a small minority in a thread that spans well over 1 thousand posts.

I am unsure whether I like the event or not.

On the one hand, I was able to acquire a demon skill I really wanted.

On the other hand, I doubt I can get my equipment refined to +4/+5 without spending a tremendous of coin.

All my packs were lucky tokens, and I never had enough coins to buy the FF/Lunar items. Hopefully my class will not suffer from the Veno/Herc problem, where you are not socially accepted unless you have a Herc.

Same as the "anyone using an oracle is a nub" thread. Personally, there's a barb in our faction who oracled most of 8x, and a lot of my veno friends, and gf use hercs and they're honestly some of the most skilled players at their class that I know.

I don't think equipment type makes a difference really. You're either a good player or you're not.

    I can't disagree with that...

Not much that skill and knowledge can do in pvp against a platinum charm, 10-20k hp, lunar/frost/warsong/tt gear and a +12 weapon firing your way. b:chuckle

If anything, anniversary packs killed off the PvP aspect of the game far more than the PvE side of things.

But isn't that how things usually go with PvP in MMORPGs?

When I play a FPS and get totally schooled, I know it's because I lack skill. But when I run away like a little coward from somebody trying to PK me in PWI, it's because I'm afraid of the money and/or time they've invested in their character, not their skill level.

I think what the Anniversary Packs have done is make it really really obvious who is willing to buy their way to the top. But it really doesn't bother me that they could totally obliterate me in PvP. They have paid thousands of dollars to be better than me, because it's worth it to them.

If I wanted to be #1 at something, I'd personally prefer it be a game where everybody has equal stats/equipment, and thus is a measure of skill, not of financial and time investment. But that doesn't mean I don't still enjoy RPGs, even though I might only be ranked #2,324.

as far as pvp goes, this is f2p, therefore those who use the cashshop will naturally have an advantage (as they should). i honestly don't care in this regard, due mainly to the fact that i pvp for fun with people who know the meaning of "pvp for fun"

what gets my goat on this annipack thing, is that they give a chance for acquiring actual gear, and endgame equipment at that. that's just out of line, and has been shown to be a negative thing in any f2p game. then again, i guess it should be expected by now...

i just never thought PWI would follow that trend... this game is the best out there, i've tried tons of others, but none come close to providing the same experience this one gives

no other f2p games i've seen has managed to keep a 114 page discussion thread alive. People care for this game and do not want it to go astray. On other games, people will just leave without taking a backward glance.

For us complaining about the ani packs, we know that this is a GREAT game, possibly led astray by profits just like an adolescence being led astray by a moment's folly. We complain to "give a wake up call" to whoevers calling the shots up there. We do not want to see such a great game meet its fall so soon, not especially when we see so much growth potential to it.

But isn't that how things usually go with PvP in MMORPGs?

You're right of course and we all know it. But just because it's what usually happens, does that really mean it's what should happen?

I mean things like cash shop imbalance and poor economy are the major downside to F2P mmo's. What set pwi aside from any other mmo a few months ago was, besides beautiful graphics and amazing gameplay, it had a balanced and stable economy that was accessible to all kinds of players and nearly everyone was happy. Now it's just become "an average f2p mmo" with the typical greedy and buggy traits of every other mmo. There's nothing really special about it.

You'll find a lot of players originally came to pwi from other mmo's. I did myself and I stayed here because the game was amazing. But no new player is going to stick around long the way things are now.
Things like "I don't really need boutique items, I can play for friends and fun, I can still use skill to succeed" don't occur to the new player. They pick up the game and go.... oooo! mount! cool I want!..... TW? I wanna be a super TW fighter when I level!..... wow look at the weapons these high levels have, I want it!..... I'm so gonna wear that fashion, where do I buy it, I'll start saving!"
When you tell them a mount is 4m, fashion is up to 1-2m apiece, without dye and winning TW is far above them...... when they've struggled to get their first 500k....they don't stay long. They think "peh, just like my old mmo =/ ....next"

Anniversary pack is killing the economy!! and ruin the game, alot of people quit this is too much , you put for max 1 week but not for too long... is alot of people who complain about them,i don't care how much people spend, they can spend how much they want, but u first need to think to not make changes in game when u put something and affect others....

So pwi Sucks and who will reply me i will F.....Y.....M this is the true about this.

And btw Perfect World is a free game, why a game is free? because of bugs that's why pw have alot of them ,so don't try to be ur not to be< just do ur job who should be.

All servers come with MY-EN <= Official , then appears others, when MY-EN update others update after MY-EN, because they dont have the filles update(pwi) need to wait some1 to release them then pwi update too like a copyrite.

People stole the filles and release then on the internet so then everyone can make a pw server.

If i was in ur place instead to waste my time with others ****s , better i work on bugs ,and will be more pppl happy, for that u dont need money, just time or.... ur too greedy? and not have time.

It's not Anniversary Pack's fault that everything is so expensive now... People could sell pack's items for cheap, but nooo, they rather sell Gems for 25mil, Scroll of Tome for 160mil, Heavenrage Boots for 50mil...

Those items are not _needed_ but still, how the hell are you supposed to keep up with that without expending some thousand dollars?

Have you any idea how much those gems would be worth without this sale? Or are you forgetting that Anniversary Pack made gold expensive thus price for stuff like charms and GA are what's really gone up? Have you any clue on how expensive say, a Warsong belt, should be based on the difficulty of getting one from in-game means? here's a quote from someone who actually has an idea:
    Looks like it:

    http://www.pwdatabase.com/pwi/mob/24569

Seems to be 1 waistband drop per run. After 80 runs of 6 people pooling the drops and farming 8 warsoul frags maybe the server will finally see its first warsong belt!

    Ohh wait.
