HP shards do have fairly wide consensus among the experienced archer community.

Briefly the reasons for this are:
    Evasion:
Suffers diminishing returns, the more you have, the less effect per point (archers already have fairly high evasion from dexterity)
    Offers nothing against magic attacks
Can be largely negated by characters wearing high grade +accuracy% equipment
Is chance based, this can be a problem in long fights when you're relying on making it to the next charm tick... you can only run your luck so many times

Even amongst physical attacks there are some that can not miss

I might add to this later, have to get to work ;)

hi, i'm new here and got a question, how do you kit here in this game?
I'm lvl11 currently and take aim + quickshot(which is infact slowshot) deals like half damage to lvl11 monsters. if i try to run away and shoot again with normal attack they just reach me and i do 50% less damage :(

Is this impossible only in low levels? Because i see that monsters run at same or higher speed than me so it's quite imposible to kit, and to add to this, it takes like a second or 2 for char to turn around, prepare for a normal attack and shoot.
By this time monster reaches me already.

    Kira!
I'll try to work out the MSN thing, I sent you an offline message - I don't understand it. Send me some emails (to my good email) or private forum messages while we work it out ;).

    To alelele:
Kiting is quite difficult until you get knockback arrow (at 19), even then you should try to avoid it as it is not really an efficient way to kill on a regular basis. Make sure you have the best ranged weapon you can get your hands on, and use your winged shell/lightning strike as much as possible if you're getting into melee troubles ;).

    Sellop:
Take Aim acts as a weapon damage multiplier, note that its percentage does not directly muliply your final damage (see the formula in the post below the guide).

As your weapon damage starts quite low (relative to flat skill bonuses), in the early levels and even right up to 89, it is generally more valuable to take the flat skill damage and slow effect from Frost Arrow. To illustrate this, test in-game for yourself the difference between an average take aim, frost arrow and regular shot (provided you have an up-to-date frost arrow).

First, thanks for this guide. I used it a lot when I was starting out, and still reference it.
There's only one question I have.
I've been pure dex since day 1. So as of this post, my lvl is 51, and str is 55.
At what point can I stop using strength all together? I assume I will reach a point when I have adequate strength for all light armor right up to endgame, and can pump a full 5 dex points per lvl.
Is there a magic str number I can stop at?

To continue to wear progressively higher armor, you must continue to add strength. There is no stopping point.

Light armor requires Lvl + 4 str, the exact amount that a pure build provides. It's not really bad news though... higher armor is better... and the difference between 4 and 5 dexterity per level is minimal.

Glad you like the guide ;)

good job doing this guide but I think knockback arrow deserves more.Seriously now it's like a stun and maxed it's like a thunder blast.Keeps target in range, does a decent attack and prevents enemy of attacking. Also short cooldown. So knockback is a skill thet deserves many thanks in PVE ;3.And honestly I never upgraded thet thingy that reduces hp by % ._.' but as soon as I'l bet outa my everlasting debt I will.
P.S this guide was helpfull ty(it saved my life 2 times thos month)
sry forgot to change on my archer avatar

The main advantage of Knockback is not its damage, but it's ability to knockback the opponent. Increasing the damage will increase your mana usage in an inefficient way.

Well put Elena, it really is a slight damage vs. dramatic mana increase situation. And I'm glad it helped flame ;)

to Lucivar: I'm not sure what the price is for SS, I havent seen one in a long time. Since General Summer's Longbow was released this weapon isnt as valuable, depending on your resources I'd pick up one for 800k-1m if you can. If you can't afford one, or if you're already significantly higher than 42, General Summer's Longbow (at level 50) is a more important investment as it unlocks later supply stash rewards.

*General Summer's Longbow is the level 50 supply stash reward, it requires a Perfect Iron Hammer from the item boutique.

to Lagolan: No, I guess I'm just especially magnetic to people from my own server... welcome to the thread :D
