    Lol I having the same issues so people are having here...I can't get pass the element.deta thing...heck I can't even go into any of the servers...and I was so physicked about playing this game :/.This is frustrating...waited almost 3 whole days the download client to find out this **** ain't working.

    Tried it 5 times and it says "Windows can't find "C:\pwi\Perfect World International\element\data" check spelling and try again.

    Try to check in this path : C:\Program Files\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International\element\data

    Otherwise, you only have to use the Windows explorer to go where you installed your game.

    Ok,it found it.I deleted those two files...now i'm trying to see if the problem is solve...I do hope it solves it.

    Well, I too have the same freaking problem to log in:
    I have Vista 32bits
    downloaded the client from the torrent in the official perfect world international webpage
    created account and aplied beta key (from MMOABC) correctly
    autoupdated worked fine
    it gives me to choose from the servers "Oracle" and "Delphi", but it won't let me connect to any of them because it tells me that my username or password are incorrect.

    I have tried several different things like changing my password but i can't connect, please help

    You downloaded the wrong client. You got the malaysian engrish version from Cubinet, not the PWI version. Oracle and Delphi are their servers. Here they are called Lost City and Ethersword.

    After failing to patch, please goto the following directory:

    Perfect World International\config\element\update.txt

    Ok, so some people are having issues with patching to the latest version of the game, from within the game's front end.

    This patch is larger then previous ones, and takes some time to compile in the background.

    If you are Auto Updating the patch, try exiting the game if it doesn't look like it is making progress patching after 10-15 minutes.

    Exit the game, restart the game and resume the patching process. If it hangs again, try again another few times after 10-15 minutes with each try.

    We are aware of the patching issues some of you are having and are working to figure out the issues with the last few patches.


    For those of you who can't patch no matter how many times you try and are Windows XP users, and are perhaps anxiously awaiting a manual patch (they're working on it), you can help us with the patch server issues by doing the following:

    1) In XP, click on Start > click on Run > type in "cmd"
    2) On this screen type in (exactly as it is typed here): tracert 64.74.217.11
    Please note there is a space between "tracert" and "64.74.217.11"
    3) Wait until it bring a message back and a full log. Maximize (enlarge) the window as large as it will go and hopefully all of the text will be able to fit into the screen.
    4) Press Prnt Scrn (print screen) on your keyboard. Open mspaint.exe (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint)
    5) Click on the dotted line box at the top of the left menu to select a section > Click on the white space and press Ctrl+P to paste the image you grabbed with Prtn Scrn
    6) Save it where you can find it, as a .JPG image. Take that image and send it to our ticketing system (http://support.perfectworld.com/ticketing)and let us know it is a "trace route log"
    7) We take the logs and crunch the info through the engineers and get them crackin on the patch issues! :)

    Options
    and another for the failed log in, I have waited a day just in-case that helped but evidently not.
    Since the the closed bata is only running for such a short time shorly this problem will be sorted asap. I've done a lot of reading up on the game and have been told meany good things so its more then a little irritating that I can't log in when my details are most definitely correct, yes I have tryed changing my password too and it is no help.

    Hello, sorry if I'm interupting anyone, but I'm hoping someone can help. I just got this downloaded (for the proper region and everything) and input my beta key just fine. However, my updates keep stalling at the element.data, and I even tried deleting that like others have said in this thread. Nothing works?

    Anyone have any ideas of what I should try? TY for any help, =)

    err look many have SAME PROBLEM with update(paching) so its no suprize you can't update right away after install so you should have looked little more in forums before posting same question everybody asking (thats for search is for lol)its kinda old topic you know as for what can tell you now is that I how I updated but its slim chance it work with you basacly what I did is went in Update settings and had all there checked then I pressed Verify not update then first time for me failed but second time I pressed Verify it worked it updated and now I have Version 4 of PWI Client.

    P.S. :D I as far I figured not even yours (might be yours connection fault and might not be) not even there is fault everyone have update problem I guess when packets travel to your PC they kinda lose its path lol so my best advice is try update and try untill you finaly update also one tip most update frezze at element AND task files

    Hey Everyone,

    Some logs may be too long to post here. You can send them to techsupport at perfectworldinc dot com , just follow these instructions please :D

    Please take a screenshot of the issue when it pops up. You can press the Print Screen key on your keyboard to capture the image. Open Paint or your graphic editor program and save the screenshot as a JPG or PNG. Then attach it to your email reply back to us.

    Please put your email name in the name of the image file when you save it.

    Also, please attach a copy of the following file to your email reply from the game directory:

    Program Files\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International\config\element\update.log

    When you reply back, please change the subject line of the email to "Can not patch - sending log files" to make it easier to send along to the server guys, so we can address this issue.

    I've tried the suggestions in the OP, nothing is working. I know its not a problem with the computer, patch, firewall, or any of that because I tried logging in on my girlfriend's pc and while she can get in, I can't.

    When I use my account name and password it simply doesn't work. It tells me "Incorrect account name or password".

    I find it weird. I have dual boot with XP and Vista. On my XP partition I have no problem connecting, logging in , and patching. Howerever when I try to play on vista I cant get by patching... Idk why that is...
