terramakterramak Member, Cryptic Developer Posts: 991 Cryptic Developer
Release Notes: NW.5.20130730a.2

Known Issues
• Levelless enemies currently have some odd interaction with levelless damage sources, such as falling damage.

New Feature: Salvage!
• Salvaging has once again been implemented for testing on NeverwinterPreview, with a few changes.
• Most of the information can be found here!
• There is once again a Salvage Trader and station in the western corner of the Seven Suns Coster Market in Protector's Enclave. Purple quality gear may be salvaged for Rough Astral Diamonds.
• Gear rewarded from the special chest that unlocks after the Dungeon Delves event is now Bind on Pickup - But now the player can chose one of the three available stat allocations for that gear slot!

New Event: Midsummer Festival!
• Starting at 10:00 AM Pacific on Saturday, August 10, Sergeant Knox will have a quest to point players to the festival grounds near Neverwinter!
• The Midsummer Festival will be running for several weeks. Log in every day to earn progress toward festival-themed fireworks, a new companion, a new mount, a fashion set celebrating the season, and more!

Quests and Environments
General
• Contests in all zones should work more consistently.
• Visual FX on end-of-instance chests are no longer offset.

Protector's Enclave
• At level 60, players are now guided to meet Lord Neverember.
• Lord Neverember now offers a rotating daily quest that gives double the Astral Diamonds that Rhix is willing to pay.

Ebon Downs
• Sealing the Crypts: The objectives of this instance have been consolidated into an objective count.
• Traps have been removed from one of the barrow hallways to prevent Companions from getting stuck.

Sharandar
• Achievements

A little clarification please -- does this mean we MUST use 3D editing mode in order to change rotation angle on respawn and teleporters? You guys couldn't simply divide degrees input by 180 and multiply by Pi??!? Seriously?

And what about the wacked out Y offsets -- nothing?

Also Foundry related - are most assets still 1x1x1 ??!?

Players can still change rotation on respawn and teleporters in the usual editor; they just can no longer change the Y rotation on the end-point, which would possibly cause players to end the teleport and end up at a slant.

I think that is still wrong - since there is only a "Rotation" field in the 2-d editor (and I think rotation is around the Y axis). Although I haven't seen the Foundry that is on Preview yet but I would hope Y rotation would be the only one allowed and Pitch (X?) and Yaw (Z?) would both be disallowed.

But, since it's "fixed" I'll assume you guys got it right and we can't launch PC's into the air or into the terrain. :-)

Rough Astral Diamonds? I hope the daily limit is being increased.

User Interface (UI)
• Chat
• Still not addressing the double slash issue

Graphics and Stability
Cloth collision has been improved. It should be much less likely to get stuck in strange positions or in the middle of characters. I really really hope this have finally fixed capes and outfits. (Checked it's mostly fixed but on mounts they front pieces of the bottoms still go threw your body neck/chest and still sometimes and twisted)

LOOK THEY ARE ACTUALLY LISTENING TO US PRAISE THE OLD GODS AND THE NEW!

Companions
Not really fair but fine at least give us the ability to trade our companions across our characters or like in wow any companion we have is useable between every character same with mounts since pretty much every mount is already account wide anyways. :(

Items and Rewards
Still No Feywild Pack Items? At least no mention of it. (Checked Pack items are there not impressed with the armor enchant nor the stats of the stone.)

Slam per-tick damage reduced by 60% and duration on rank 3 reduced from 12s to 10s.
So lets say you did 300 per tick - it gave you 300x12 = 3600.
Now it gives you 300 - 60%x300=120, 120x10 = 1200.

Seriously? Daily worth 1200 dmg...

Does 15% damage reduction work for all minions, adds and bosses? Because if not than Slam will be completely useless in PvE. We can't use crescendo on some bosses because we get stuck (Yshiggol) so we use Slam. But now Slam deals 60% less damage so I hope it reduces bosses damage as well?
As some recompense.

'The War Makers'

I thought you had locked endless waves of adds in Pandora's Box, why did it get reopened?
Seemingly endless numbers of Dark Fey appearing next to the catapults are great fun as a DC :( NOT!!!

PS
Why did the 'fog' descend on New Sharandar?

PPS
Another set of 'Pleb Garb' ??? Neverember really like us, NOT!!! (and you cannot refuse it & progress)
How about - a squires set instead?

& Just 1 of the stupid daily quests for 2x the AD reward - lol - development - NOT - so so lazy - give us a choice of which daily to do for the reward at the very least! Expansion by railroading is not the way forward!

I can't even describe the disappointment I have with this game now..

Slam is the most important skill GWF for pve.. We use other skills like roar to charge out AR so we can use slam.. Not only will this destroy out best skill for pve but will destroy other skills used to charge slam...

If the devs had any idea they would know doing this would mean GWF would completely be finished in pve... Idiots

Very nice work, really, still the campaign is ridiculously easy, it really needs either a difficulty scale (that would be awesome, but i guess its complicated, an easy/normal/hard/nightmare difficulty ladder with different titles and slightly better rewards, but just the challenge would be enough to make it worth it) or a difficulty tweak to be at least semichallenge (after 4 days playing i never had my lifebar under 50%, never had a crit from the boss in the dung or any mob over 4k hp, i really feel like is stupidly easy, the whispering caverns mobs are really a lot more threatening) also, you can do all 5 quests in 30 minutes tops, so a little more quests in each area would be nice, i want to play sharandar more than 30 minutes/day.

Upgrade the Drop rates of Tier gear from bosses.

End bosses drop mostly trash 99% of the time. Spellplague drops Boots and Insignia of Sovereignity and the same goes for the other endbosses. Unbelievable.

That's one of the reasons why ppl quit playing this game. Takes ages to find a party that can finish the dungeons and sometimes when we're already half way through one of us will quit or DC and time to find another party. And after hours of playing just to kill that last boss, u get a complete trash purple item. Srsly, ppl will be rly frustrated if we keep on repeating these dungeons yet we get a purple HAMSTER. In order to get my swashbuckle hat I have to wait for that Dungeon delve event for hours and I am not online 24/7 I have other things to do. I've done 4 spellplague last wk. and no good purple item all HAMSTER; It was a complete waste of time and potions. Now I am srsly tired of this game, T2 Dungeons needs T2 gears, I've never seen a party or heard someone that was able to finish a dungeon with all of its members only wearing T1. Oh well, this game is free anyway, no wonder why it is a P2W. I might play again when everything looks fine already and when spending money is already worth it. Good thing they have gateway so I could still lvl my professions.:)

"The drop rate of blue-quality items in Sharandar has been reduced."

Is this supposed to be increased? Cause they sure as hell have been dropping like crazy since this patch. Otherwise, everything else is pretty solid. Can't seem to interact with the salvage guy though. Also, the graphical improvements in several of the areas looks amazing!

Well guys, time for the GWF players to rise up and cry, whine, moan and complain so the ridiculous nerf to slam gets defused.
It sure worked for the TRs when Lurker's Assault was up for a nerf right?
Unfortunately(?), I doubt the GWF population has anywhere near such a large amount of hugely vocal complainers as the TRs do, so they'll likely be stuck with what's coming here...kinda weird that class balance seems to be decided by who screams the loudest.
We'll see I guess, but utterly destroying the one useful PvE daily of a class that nearly no one wants on their dungeon runs *already as is* strikes me as a bit...ignorant of the reality of the issue.

My proposed alterations to the Slam change before it goes on the live servers:
-40% damage instead of -60%
Rank ups back to adding 2 seconds instead of only 1
reduced damage of slowed taragets increased to -20% from -15%
Target cap lifted(!)

Are you sure about the drop rate of blue-quality items? It feels like it has been majorly increased instead of slightly reduced.

Great Weapon Fighter

Bravery: Ranking up this power now affects Run Speed (+15% at max rank), but the Deflect bonus has been reduced to +8% at max rank.

Slam: The damage from this power has been reduced; it had previously done too much damage for its area of effect, duration, and utility, and the intent is to change its focus mostly to utility.

Feat: Master of Arms: The max Deflect bonus that this feat can provide has been reduced by 33%.

This doesn't make sense...

A raptr quote from not too long ago:

[...]We've been very active in listening to the community ever since we went into closed beta. There's been a ton of great feedback that has helped us shape the game. Recently we made big adjustments to the Greatweapon Fighter to make them stronger and more fun to play[...]

This definitely doesn't make the GWF "stronger" or "more fun to play", at all.
Currently it feels like i'm bashing enemies with a toy lightsaber rather than a 60 pound, sharpened greatsword. aka. slow moves that indicate a lot of power was put into the swing but... it almost has no impact. If anything, the GWF needs to be buffed damage wise, not the other way around.

This is a step into the wrong direction, i hope the developers will make the right decisions.

Have a nice day.

cant belive they had guts to nerf GWF the most useless class, -7% deflect hurts but 60% dmg on the slam?after those changes there is no way a GWF ill find a party for any t2 dgs.
Sometimes i have feeling like this game is runned by braindead monkeys, no hard feelings thou.
Also why nerfing deflect did u guys even realize that GWF doeasnt have any dodge abilites?

First of all, I would like to commend the developers for continuing to try new innovative areas such as the midsummer festival.

Now with that said, it looks like a lot more (more than usual) resources came into making this area and a significant upgrade in time-commitment required from the players. Since this event is much more time-consuming both for the developers and for the players who are potentially going to put time in, I feel that you guys should be rewarding them more. The rewards in this entire new zone are more fitting to quick events such as the Call to Arms Skirmish, Lliira's Fireworks etc. To most people that have temporarily quit the game, this event gave them no motivation to return nor does it give enough reward to your loyal players who have stayed. Since the areas involve fruits, vegetables, animals etc how about after completing enough dailies, it gives you a token to upgrade any companion or any mount? Increase mount-movement by 5%? Crafting a fruit that permanently gives your character a few more points in stamina? How about make the ultimate rewards somewhat similar to Sharandar? Just a few suggestions.

I want this event to mean something, at least mean much more because the developers have put in much more of an effort into this "event" than most of their other events. (If you say this event didn't take much effort, then the development team must be massive enough to make new min-events once a week, make new dungeons and fix gauntlgrym which clearly isn't the case). Its a shame because the herding of chickens is a nice new touch, the environment looks nice, the profession and bounty system is a bit different and new, but ultimately if the rewards aren't good enough, this will be a hard sell.

I know its hard to tip-toe between not giving players overpowered rewards, but you have to reward the players who are playing with meaningful prizes and at the same time, make a hard sell at those who are waiting to see what happens with this game.

As of right now, those people who quit 6 weeks ago are at a similar place as those who have continued to play. There are no new dungeons to learn, no new character progression, no new classes to explore, no rewards/buffs for the continued dedication of some of your fans. I hope Sharandar will be a sign of things to come.

The zen shop will always be there, no point in arguing against it nor will I, but by implementing more Sharandar-type campaign trees, you are making this game less pay-to-win and you are actually rewarding gameplay.
