  • Strum, here's my issue with this decision -- it's just one more way that I feel like the game is pushing me away. (Warning: this may seem a little off topic as I build up to my point, but I'm, as you say, putting it into perspective. In this case my perspective as a casual player who has played off and on since beta.) I…
  • It matters because a very large number of Neverwinter players are only here because of the game's connection to D&D. You claim to be worried about the risk of alienating one specific demographic (PVP players), yet you completely dismiss the concern of alienating this game's primary target demographic -- D&D fans. My point…
  • I wasn't commenting one way or the other on balancing or not balancing, merely replying to a poster who seemed to be suggesting that Neverwinter needs to focus more on PVP than PVE. I agree with you that if PVP is offered in the game, it should be a quality experience. But I also firmly believe that in any game wearing the…
  • Both are fun, and both can do a lot of AOE damage. CW has great control as well as nuking ability, while SW has the option to spec as an off-healer as well as dps. If you have a preference for particular elements, CWs deal do a lot of arcane and frost damage, with an option to spec for fire or lightning as well. SW deal…
  • Do me a favor, reread that description of the "core" d&d experience WOTC wants: "players coming together to explore exotic locations, face dangerous monsters, and discover magical treasures" How does PVP fit this description in any way? It doesn't. Even the most broad description given for the d&d experience does not…
  • Hmm, giving a few specific individual players a voice in the development/balance process and expecting them to objectively speak for everyone else who plays their class? What could possibly go wrong? It's not like this could possibly lead to abuse and advancement of personal agendas and biases. /sarcasm off Terrible idea,…
  • I posted this in a similar thread a few weeks ago, but my suggestion is "The Shadows" since it ties in to the darker theme without the potential of offending anyone and corresponds to our "shadowslip" movement ability.
  • I just want to add my voice to the din screaming for either some "darker" deity options, or at the very least an "unaffiliated" option such as reilz1981 suggested above. Of the current selection, only Ioun makes any sense at all for an infernal warlock, and that's only if you want to play as a Faustian style character. The…
  • Pretty much agree with everything here. When requests for this type of token first started appearing in beta, I was against it. As you say, I like "permanency" in an RPG. There is also the variety factor -- I don't like the idea that every time some changes are made, everyone will suddenly switch to whatever the FOTM is…
  • Has this been confirmed? IIRC, there is a warlock class quest that specifically links the warlock's pact with Belial, which means this would apply to all warlocks regardless of paragon path. Personally I would prefer to have other pacts available, but I suspect that what we will eventually get is another paragon path that…
  • Very nice guide voltomey! I rolled a SW on preview a while ago, but so far I haven't had a chance to level him very far. It's great to get some input on how they shape up at higher levels. As to the human/tiefling debate, I think I'm leaning human. SWs just have such nice heroic feats, and extra defense is never a bad…
  • It moved a little while back. Upper left corner, click on the carrot and 1st option should be "Redeem code". Edit: nice ninja strike iambecks
  • Gotta throw a little love to zebular. I'm a long-time pnp D&D guy, but most of my experience has been with Greyhawk or custom campaigns, so I love all of the FR lore that old Zeb shares regularly. Eldarth has become sort of the de facto foundry source, and I appreciate this greatly (though, in truth I haven't played nearly…
  • One possibility -- are your bags full? I've had times where it wouldn't let me invoke because there was no place to put the potion or whatever my deity was trying to give me.
  • Pretty much just echoing what others have said above, but here's my 2 coppers: I find TR to be hands-down the most fun of any class for running solo content (I too have a 60 of each class). And TRs can be useful in dungeons. However, due to their lack of aoe, there is a general perception that they aren't worth taking into…
  • Yeah, I think we are in complete agreement in terms of the inappropriateness of the behavior, I just don't believe it was criminal. It comes down to defining "permission" I suppose. I'm taking a very literal, game mechanics definition of permission (i.e. if his guild settings allowed it, he was permitted) while you're…
  • Ack! Single-malt whiskey refrigerated??!!! What kind of a heathen do you think I am? Neat at room temperature, please.
  • Except guild leaders can set permissions as to how much someone can and can't remove from the guild bank, so by definition, he couldn't have taken anything that he didn't have permission to take.
  • Actually, I think in this case you are missing the point. He was given access to the guild bank specifically so that he could take things out. It's not like he was house-sitting and made off with someone else's stuff. He was given access so that he could take what he wanted/needed. As an analogy, consider this. You stop by…
  • CC= "crowd control"
  • Personally I'd go cold resolve on a TR. Here's my thinking -- as a TR you're trying to avoid taking damage via dodge, stealth, ITC, etc., so a boon that only procs when you take damage seems a little self-defeating. OTOH, on my TR I'm constantly dodging, so my stamina is rarely full, meaning lots of uptime for cold resolve.
  • The part I bolded in your quote is exactly the point I'm trying to make. As I said in an earlier post, if the other person doesn't know what you're doing, it looks like you're stealing. If they think you're stealing, they will get just as frustrated and annoyed. So from the perspective of their gaming experience, what…
  • I wasn't arguing that people stealing relics isn't a problem. Personally, I make sure that no one is even in the area before I start clearing a pack for just this reason, especially if I'm on my GF since he takes longer than my other toons. My point was that running up to an idol where someone else has cleared (or mostly…
  • I completely agree that the fact that people can do this at all is a problem and that Cryptic should fix it so that it's not possible (same with the CN and Draco issues you mentioned). However, people going out of their way to find a way of getting someone else to do their work for them in a video game, an entertainment…
  • Or you could just find some trolls to kill yourself. You know, actually playing the game instead of having someone else do it for you.
  • No worries, mate. No blood, no foul :) Related to your concerns about pricing and providing value to people paying actual cash, I'm curious to see if we get a cash-only pack for module 4 similar to the Guardian/HotN/Feywild packs. I don't think it was coincidental that these packs, which are about the only things you can't…
  • I think you may be misreading the ability. You are shielded for 10% of your hp, not protected from dying again for a certain amount of time. Say you have 25k hp and you die. When rezzed you will have a shield that absorbs the first 2500 hp of damage. All damage after that initial 2500 would hit you as normal. So if someone…
  • ayroux, I guess we're going to have to agree to disagree then. Perhaps I'm both too naive and too skeptical at the same time, but I firmly believe both of the following to be true: 1) Regardless of actions taken by a game's publisher, third party websites will ALWAYS offer in-game currencies at lower rates than legitimate…
  • Um, my argument is that demand for AD needs to raised not the demand for zen, so I'm really not sure what you're talking about here. And as evidence, I'll just point to the recent egg sale. One unique item introduced that could only be purchased with AD and voila, the entire backlog disappeared over one weekend. Egg sale…
