  • Fear of gold farmers, maybe. Though... haha... farming gold in Neverwinter... hah! Honestly, the real answer is probably the same "we'd love to, but money" that applies to most foundry woes.
  • The core product is a lot of fun to play with, and while some will disagree, there's not much there that I would change. I'm talking the overall quest building process - the big picture. There's just a good "time/effort" to "tangible results" ratio for an MMO environment. And the 3d editor is a fantastic toy to play around…
  • If you're feeling dedicated enough, everything you need to make a custom desert map is in the details section. But yes, it would be nice to have a big, empty desert map ready to use.
  • A fun read as always - and thank you for throwing a spotlight on Mere Expedition. I hadn't played that one before, and it was truly stunning.
  • Thanks for the double review! Hopefully we'll have our Foundry back to normal (more or less) soon - I might want to revisit the mobs in Slush Fund and see if there's a way to liven up the combat a bit.
  • Sorry, no Nasher stuff. It looks like this was largely just the Tyranny of Dragons details. Outside of that, it looks like the only thing we have are new placeable weapon details (barbarian, dwarf, black ice, and summer event)
  • Not functioning, obviously - but the model did make it into the details. Also spotted: * the golden dragon empire floor sigils in various shapes * multiple dragon statues * parts of the Lostmauth iris trapdoor (non-moving, unfortunately) * a miniboss platform that I wish I had when building one of my last quests * carts…
  • I just did a cursory scroll through the encounters, npcs, and costume parts, and I didn't catch anything new, unfortunately. There's always the chance I missed something, though. That said, i really do dig a lot of the map details seen in the ToD campaign, so it's a welcome addition. Certainly better than nothing.
  • Thanks for the heads up! My authoring finger's itching.
  • The "L" screen got a facelift in the new patch. This is how it looks now: Nothing from the home screen links directly to the Foundry menu. You now have to know that "Catalog" means "Foundry."
  • Then hop to it! And any fellow chronic procrastinators out there who are considering taking part, beware: We have a module inbound, and they have a history of giving Foundry authors a week or so of mandatory vacation.
  • \ And this is the elephant in the room that we've been spraining our necks to try and argue our points around: no movement is happening. On any front. All theories on how they can overhaul the system to make the Foundry draw revenue share one thing: an initial investment of time, money, and effort to make it happen. And it…
  • *nod* I understand your concerns - but what I'm describing is Advertising 101. A thriving industry built around the ability to measure and prove their effectiveness. They can, and certainly do, track all their sales and compare them to the effectiveness of their current advertising model. There are no doubt graphs and…
  • Except that charging for Foundry authoring assets/tools is a poor business model with extremely limited earning potential. You're talking about generating revenue from a fraction of a fraction of the player base. You're talking about creating a set of merchandise - an act which, in itself, requires the up front investment…
  • I definitely have to play this again, see how it's changed since I last tried. The seasonal content is an awesome concept to apply to a Foundry creation.
  • Oh man - thanks for the catch, must not have been paying attention when I copied that.
  • SLUSH FUND NW-DM7UHECIK The restoration of the Northern Docks District is a lost cause. Typically when something is melted in lava and then drowned in the ocean, it is time to consider other options. Perhaps, one day, something new will be built over the watery grave, but that's not to be confused with a restoration.…
  • I'm going to cheat and give two lists - the first is what I actually want (but I am pretty dead certain I'll never see), and the second is what I'd settle for. * A complete scrapping of the current reward structure, with a replacement structure that actually keeps the rest of the game in mind as to not be so thoroughly…
  • Hey eldarth, I didn't want to post until I was sure I'd be participating, but I've started cooking something up for this and should have it ready for the due date. Still, I would vote for an extended grace period, if it would mean more submissions to play through.
  • Hey all, Just dusted off and republished an "original recipe" edition of Tuum this morning, removing the docks map in the beginning altogether. I kind of liked how it turned out, but: 1) It did not mesh with my original mission statement of making a fun quest with only one, really nice custom map. 2) A lot of people were…

  • Dumathoin's Lullaby BETA NW-DP6DHCAXO The Bookwyrms of Candlekeep, apprentices all studying at the famous library, are taking a field trip! When one of them finds "Dumathoin's Lullaby" cryptically etched on a map, their curiosity gets the best of them and they set out to find the meaning of these words. The only catch -…
  • *Thumbs up* Also, that map is awesome! Great find.
  • That's exactly what I was going for - just bad phrasing on my part. I just meant to rule out any cases where someone just slaps the name "docks" on the default Blacklake map and calls it a day. Maybe rephrased to something along the lines of "do not submit unaltered pre-generated maps" or "must show clear effort to…
  • Okay, I can definitely get behind that line of thinking. What do you think, though, about any of these suggestions: 1) the blunt approach: "this is a previously unrepresented area of Neverwinter - no prefabs!" 2) the player's way of reaching the docks must be represented in some way. this can be as simple as a well placed…
  • Out of curiosity, what's the thinking behind making those middle two criteria mandatory? I only ask because it seems like all the focus of the competition is loaded into the last bullet point. Even the nature of the assigned quest is focused on the destination, and while there are plenty of ways to keep the journey part…
  • Hey man, Sounds like we split/came back at roughly the same time. It's been too long since I played Bone Idol, so I'll give it another pass this week at some point on my ranger and get back to you. Welcome back!
  • Just wrapped up and published TUUM: THE EXTENDED CUT (No, I didn't really call it that in the title), adding a new map with about 5+ minutes of extra gameplay. Feel free to head on over and check out the new opening sequence!

  • Then they should include a way to make entries removable by the player. Immaturity and griefing can be reported - the quests themselves can already be reported for various reasons. All this needs, beyond an isolated journal tab, is a small grey "x" in the upper corner of each entry. Edit: ...as stated by the OP, which I…
  • Played this extensive thesis on epicness today. You already got my enthusiastic ramblings in-game - what notes I did take, I'll PM you now - but it looks like you already fixed the biggest issues I could find. I'll be playing this one a few more times.
  • I figured it was. And yep, that'll slow down progress for sure!
