while not entirely over the moon at any launch delay, it does please me that they are working hard on ensuring PvP is done well and available at launch. having a strong PvP system in place is an important ingredient for a successfull launch of any MMO game. P.S. if any of the devs read this, please review the first 6…
Its good that they are looking towards the endgame, for many mmo players, this is where the real game actualy begins. my thoughts on endgame are quite simple. i HATE grind with a passion. i flatly refuse to run the same content a thousand times simply to try to get item X that has a 0.0001% drop rate. if i run it once,…
as a PvPer, i fully support your desire to keep PvP and PvE seperate. i see no reason why we cant have two dragons that drop +10 Vorpal Greatswords of Doom, one in PvE for you. the other in PvP for me. though, to be honest, i ussualy preffer a sword and board setup rather than 2hander.
this post is as misleading as you accuse Trion of being. when you lose your quest hub in rift, 99 times out of 100 its not PvPers, but its PvE invasions on such a scale that you have no hope of taking it on solo. the only way to drive it off is to team up with others and kill them. the game encourages this by rewarding…
ussualy, such moves dont come with a handy cliff, it's up to the player to find one. :D taking examples from another MMO (SWTOR) that i recently stopped playing, i shall provide you with examples: my sith warrior had an ability to force choke a target. channeled, ticked damage every second, held the target immobile, if i…
the kind of abilities you're describing a common to most, if not all, MMOs. they are reffered to as Combat Control abilities (CC for short). from the game vids we've seen so far, it looks like there is a wizard spec that specializes in this - it's even reffered to as a control wizard - check out the Athene interview. but…
PvP was always going to be a part of NWO....eventually. i dont think the game was delayed just so it could be introduced at launch. more likely other issues arose that would delay the game and a dicision was made to push it back to the same time as the pvp was due to come into it. SWTOR wasnt dragged down by PvPers. its…
here is an example of what can happen when a company (in this case Sony) introduces rootkits onto victims...i mean customers...systems. hopefully this is taken under consideration when deciding whether to use gameguard or not.
I too would preffer not to have the malicious rootkit known as gameguard infecting my system. however given the recent hacking of blizzards battle.net and the general pervasiveness of cheating commonly seen in MMOs, some thought must be given to both account security and game security. just...please...not gameguard, find…
do your pnp D&D quests come from a guy with a glowing exlamation mark above his head? do you often have quests to collect 10 wolf tails or kill 7 bandit swordsman/5 bandit archers/3 bandit lieutenants/1 bandit leader in your pnp D&D games? do the wolves your farming for tails stand around in a small clearing within sight…
i apologise for singling you out for my post above, your post was less deserving of my response than some of the others i've seen in here. i guess i'm just frustrated to see all the hate from players that have no intention of participating in pvp anyway. warhammer likewise had established rules, lore, dedicated fan base,…
PvP is a minor aspect in D&D because the average D&D game rarely has more than a handfull of players. this will not be the case here. this will not only be a D&D game, it will be a MMO D&D game. whenever such game bring large numbers of players together, those players want to interact with eachother on a large scale. some…
more of a question than a suggestion: will foundry made content be editable by the creator after they've released it to the community at large? if the answer is yes, that could go a long way to enabling the RP community to make their own fun, in a way that has continuing after effects. ie: a previous poster mentioned being…
ah, now that brings back fond memories of wandering around the RvR lakes solo on my Blackguard in warhammer. of course, they were entirely justified for getting vocal about managing to kill me with only twenty players. :p
i didnt start this thread because i'm a pvp lover looking for a pvp game. i started it because i'm a D&D lover who has enjoyed the pvp aspect of previous mmos.
i dont think i've ever encountered a screaming 13 year old in a mmo. most players seem to be in the mid to late 30s or early 40s. the 13 year olds seem to be all on xbox/playstation playing halo or some other fps. as fo RPing, if you dont want your immersion broken, you're going to have to disable general chat and limit…
and i'm fine with that :) you'll note i did specify a pvp zone in my above post. also, its not a matter finding something funny, its a matter of finding something fun. which is the whole point of games in general. i promise you, should i come across someone in a pvp area and they carve me a new one, i'll enjoy it just as…
PvP and griefing are 2 different things. warhammer was a mmo built for pvp yet it had no griefing at all. higher level players in lower level zones who flagged for pvp found themselves turned into chickens. it might be worth me pointing out that my major interest in this game is that it is a D&D game, not that it might…
i dont know about your D&D campaigns, but there has never been anything in our tabletop games prohibiting one player from stabbing another in the back. :D in fact in our most recent games there has been growing friction between my LN cleric and another players CG sorceror that can quite easilly blossom into interparty…
#5 when the option is available, i'll always roll on a pvp server i dont need to be the highest ranked, or the best geared. but when i've already run every dungeon, pvp is where i find more entertainment and less grind. even the greenest undergeared player can sometimes whip out a surprise that formulaic pve cannot.
