Yup combat is dead .. Damage Still decent with pack and good stats but way to squishy for the fact that u have to go melee.. And with trapper it's 50/50 because it's not easy to play trapper, either you Suck at it and you will die over and over or you are good at it and it works decent the dmg is pretty good with serpent…
I can speak for PvP, going for high recovery is not really worth it. I tried it with 18k recovery and plant growth was at 10 seconds. The thing is that you lose your damage since you cannot aim for high crit then so going for high crit and having a huge burst potential is better, in my opinion. I don't know if it is worth…
You consider 3k high? I assume you are playing with roughly 2.5k iLvl (correct me if I am wrong) and in this iLvl Range every class is an easy kill for better geared people, not just Gwf's.

In General, if you want to play PvP with Trapper, go full defensive. As mentioned before, you wont do much damage against equally geared players... The Point in playing Trapper is to control - not to kill = the more you are alive, the more you can Control. Therefore I highly recommend using healing insignias over Offensive…
Roots don't do much damage. (Actually very low damage)They just stun you. You barely get killed by Trappers alone these days and not many Hr's are still playing this Build. So tell me why should they remove it ...
I never played OP/DC either but there are two things that can stop our piercing damage: Astral Shield and Binding Oath = your zero's. Just wait for these encounters to finish (You can see it) and then start your rotation. A Bullcharge or any kind of prone from an allie would help you to kill them with one rotation, tho.
