(PVP) (PC) Which mount insignia bonuses for trapper?

I've been back and forth analyzing the mount insignia bonuses for my (almost) BIS trapper. Some info on me...

- I am speced for dps (and cc through roots).
- I use t dread and t elven.
- I use serpent (and crushing obvs.)
- I have 23.5k base power, 30 base dex. (I also have twised set and brutality ring and that stamina-power boon)
- I sit at 95% resistance ignored (with room for up to around 100% once BIS)
- I have 45% base crit chance (with room to move up to 50% once BIS) -- using also sudden precision and that bahoment boon.
- 20% deflect
- 14% LS
- 20% dmg resist (or 40 if i take def guild boon) -- also would pair well with Assassin's covenant with more def.
- ... and lastly (not sure if this one really matters but...) I use forest ghost and slashers -- so basically my daily usage is not as frequent as one with disruptive shot.

HERE IS WHAT I'VE BEEN THINKING SO FAR...

Assassin's covenant - MOAR POWA! (especially with guild def boon)
Barbarian's revalry - I crit and cc enough so yeah i guess.
Oppressor's reprive - a whopping 4% and let's face it, death usually involves some cc, or a lot of cc...
Magistrate's patience - more damage.
-------------------
and maybe....idk
-------------------
Gladiator's guile? (obviously to enhance playstyle with more dodge/speed)
Cavalry's waring? (is it really that good? I have a feeling it might disrupt my flow, man)
Champion's return? (sounds good on paper... but what gets me is that it procs only once per fight, maybe)
Shepard's devotion? (a nice team buff i suppose, not sure) -- EDIT: ALSO BUFFS USER
Magistrate's restraint? (basically same as patience, but different)does it additively stack? or what's going on here?
Vampire's craving/Survivor's Blessing? which ever would proc the most considering my deflect and ls chance/ playstyle.

any feed back would be helpful. except dont tell me to use fey and lonewolf. just don't.

What did your BIS trapper use? which would you use if you were me?

    Hey I'm not a trapper (I remember, @jonkoca :p) - nor do I pvp.

Unfortunately I am not on the PC so you guys are way ahead of me, I have not PvP for a very long time either :(

I am waiting until the changes in mid October to really get back into the game and test my HR again. At the moment I am just playing around with Companions... an Epic Frost Mimic is fun to run around with :)

Edit... PvP was just not fun, after the new changes I hear I should be able to compete, this will bring me back into the PvP arena on the X1... My Guild has not gone for the HP Boon though, massive loss for a HR :(

Well, when you do... any input on insignia bonus would be appreciated :)

The only one I can recommend with certainty is Gladiator's Guile. How I was playing without that insignia bonus since it came out is confounding.

BTW Shepherd's Devotion buffs the user as well, @rayrdan can confirm it. I must get it for my Combat HR.

Happy to get some confirmation on guile. Also i didn't know that SD buffed the user as well, thanks!

Go for all the healing insignia sets, that can be triggered frequently.
Champions Return is great, also the LS heal, the deflect heal (if your deflect or LS chance is high enough). Oppressors Reprieve is obv. very good. Gladioators guile too.

Lets face it: you wont be doing good damage against equally geared players. So you should aim at surviving and control strentgh.

is my LS and deflect high enough?? which one, if I chose only one, would be most beneficial?

Also, not wild about champion's return because it won't proc as frequently.

Basically I want to assume a minimal/zero level of mistake on my playstyle and select insignia bonuses that enhance my build...For example, if i am doing it right, I would take LS mount bonus over deflect because I assume I will be slippery and cc on the attack most of the time... so more chances to LS over deflect.. even though my deflect % may be higher. The same logic applies with champion's return. If it procs, I've probably made a mistake and would rather die because of it (or not and kill the HAMSTER/run) and start over than take a seemingly useless mount bonus.

Oppressor's Reprieve, Survivor's Blessing, Survivor's Gift, Gladiator's Guile, Artificer's Persuasion are what I presently use in PvP. I have been able to suspend (stall) 3, 4, the team at a node while we cap the others. I don't feel its wise to NOT have the HP boon and a fair amount of Regen when you must dip.

    @david

    What is your deflect %?

Can you explain how artificer's persuasion specifically helps you in combat? seems useless imo (at least for trapper)...

Also, I agree with your thinking on the HP boon. That is exactly what I thought as a counter to taking full benefit of Assassin's covenant. But lately i have been playing with def boon to see if its that bad... and SE is the killer, I can usually dodge out of combat hr. BUT you're right, the regen with higher hp is where I am at a loss. Considering that many of these boons heal a % of max hp, it is also important to consider there.

I am trying to really squeeze all the dps i can out of trapper and have finally gotten to mount choices/ bonuses. BUT from all the % healing of max hp, it is hard to turn down +35k hp.

Maybe if I go this route, I am curious about magistrate's patience/restraint.. has anyone test how/if these stack?

You are right about LS over deflect insignia bonus. You will trigger your lifesteal more often.

I would not give up champions return lightly. Being hit does not mean that you made a mistake.
Sometimes, you cannot avoid certain amounts of damage, and this set bonus helps you to survive, which is crucial in pvp obviously.

The same goes for hp boon. You should always choose the hp guild boon. No matter what.

I recomment also not to focus too much on damage. Bad players you will kill anyway, and good ones you will not bring down. But you can be annoying as hell as trapper just to root people permanently and hinder them to rotate or to execute powers.

Sorry, there was a network crisis here at work. With 160K+ HP and decent stats else where, should be able to take a huge beating and dip to regain a footing. I don't visit the camp fire as much. Makes it easier for the team if I can stay out there with them.

    you do? what? @rayrdan

thanks for the info on LS over deflect @osterdrache.

I have 150k hp with guild boon @david

I will pick up this one for sure. I am on the fence about everything else lol... Except maybe galdiator's guile for more slipperyness and oppressor's reprive because cc happens.

Yes, Oster you are probably right also about killing bad but only annoying the good ones so I should probably focus on surviving. But I guess I can add that I try to enter into 2v1's as much as possible, rotate and kill with teammate. With my build I am really trying to squeeze all the dps out of trapper and utilize the debuff on dread as well; I think it has been working, even on the good ones (assuming they're not potted to all hell). I would really like to try to have some offensive bonus in my list (so magistrate's stack, or assassin's).

    Could look somthing like this...

    Vampire's Craving
    Assassin's Covenant
    Oppressor's Reprive
    Gladiator's Guile
and some other healing one or shepard's devotion

    Or

    Vampire's craving
    magistrate's restraint
magistrate's patience ... assuming these stack well.
    oppressor's reprive
    Gladiator's guile or champion's return

Suprised I haven't heard much about cavalry's warning. also barbarian's revelary...

In the end I think I will have a defensive mechanism in having a second artifact weapon set with drowned and maybe fey just in case I need to switch it up and be more tanky. But right now I want the dps set up solid min/maxed for trapper dps.

It's so hard to choose these things... I keep looking at different set ups and mounts lol. it is suprising there is no standard BIS here after the stable bonuses have been out so long.

im confirming what lirithiel said. For the rest, my currently insignias set up is not the best
    i currently use

    shepherd devotion
    barbarian revelry
    magistrate patience
    oppressor reprieve
    survivor blessing

not bad but still not really optimal for pvp
  • wdj40wdj40 Member Posts: 1,958 Arc User
Shepherd's Devotion is really good, but you just want to keep an eye on if any of your team mates are using Trans Shadowclad. They probably should not be in PvP, but still the boost that SD gives off to Deflect can stop the 8 stacks from stacking up for the daze and stealth.

I have dropped it in PvE for Artificer's Persuasion as that one does not boost Deflect. Anyhoo SD is an extremely good self and team buff otherwise.

Gladiators Guile is hands down the best Mount Bonus there is :)

picked up oppressors and vampires.... currently i am able to also use champions return, magistrate's patience, and shepard's devotion. I guess all that's left is getting a gladiator's guile and testing with also the other magistrate's, covenant, and maybe revalry/cavalry's.

... still not sure about everything, but after a few pvp matches i can say i am better off than i was before. Thanks all!

Do you have to go back above 50% to proc champion's return?

for instance... you are slaying people on back cap and are slowly losing hp over time but cannot recover above 50% and even though the 60 sec cooldown expires.. will it proc again if you are still below 50%?

    sorry i dont pvp competitively
  • auntjimimaauntjimima Member Posts: 94 Arc User
okay. but you still may have some wisdom to share?

And I am not the most competitve pvper... I just make all build decisions pvp oriented so that when i do go dom I am at the best i could be. pve can be managed easily, not always the same for pvp.

So far I've learned quite a bit, but there are still general questions I have about some of these mount bonuses and how well they work.

I just went to trapper from combat for the weekend
    running
Vampires craving due to 25% LS
    Survivors blessing 55% deflect
    Champions return for healing
    Slayers redemption
wanderers fortune till 2 x rp is up have 1 last arti to get teal

wheel gives me speed boost if need it and staina is thru split strike so don use Guile

This is exactly why I don't use CR. It's up for only 10 seconds, and down for 50...

If I am reduced to 50% a lot then I see the value. When I am below that mark, it is usually the whole team on my a$$ and I usually dip prior to that point so regen has done it's thing.

I will give it another go tonight in IWD DV.

When i go pvp, i just equip my pvp gear(head arms feet, i have no armor enchant on body so i dont swap it out) and just slot in serpent and aspect of the wolf. i never bothered to change mount powers, but if i would, i definitely go use those that boosts survival like most said. and in the instance killing enemies proves to be hard, i take out serpent and slot in crushing roots to try to stay alive when fighting 1on1.

In General, if you want to play PvP with Trapper, go full defensive. As mentioned before, you wont do much damage against equally geared players... The Point in playing Trapper is to control - not to kill = the more you are alive, the more you can Control. Therefore I highly recommend using healing insignias over Offensive ones, equipping HP Boon instead of defense (nearly useless) and equipping lone wolf to get the deflect up. You might consider switching dread for fey since fey debuffs the damage from enemies by a significant amount. For Dailies I recommend swapping out slashers for mediation or disruptive.

My personal preference is to stack Hp as much as you can (sitting at 215-222k, works great) because you know, a dead Trapper is not very helpful. :-)

    This sucks :(

My Guild is level 20, but due to not being a PvP Guild they have not taken the HP boon. I cannot get my HP much more over 120k :(

Bummer, I departed one of the two best PvE guilds to get the HP boon, didn't your prior guild have it?

Champions is not that useful for me. I am not reduced too less than half HP often enough to benefit. Been fortunate to run on good comp teams. When we get the new PvP queues, I am sure I will need it.

Might be I heard wrong, but I thought Mediation was broken for the XBL.
