Same problem. Began on 12/14/15. Still happening. Only difference vs others is I get passed the Cryptic screen the the NW screen, then the progam shuts down. "Merging" sounds good, BUT, to my knowledge there is no mechanic in place to truly merge existing guilds. What you propose is to abandon one guild, writing off everything you've spent (time and resources) as a loss and join another. That can be hundreds of thousands of AD wasted, among other things. As of today, unbinding of companions fails. Tested it on a phoera and a couple of standard ("free") companions. Filed a bug report, number 1700000+ so not holding my breath.
