Selune has blessed this game and said it will be bestest game evvaarrr!!! So any other game like BG, NWN, witcher, DA, etc etc etc whose names I don't even care to remember is going to bite dust.
*camera pans behind and an army of shards is preparing for battle against other games*
And what are you all talking about - fanboi, purist, blah blah blah - I am none of it. I am a Neverwiter fanatic!
It is stupid of me to make a third continuous post but the topic was entirely different (as I am reading the posts from latest to most recent).
Both the sides have merit. Let us stop going personal and go beyond who said what, and take the points out of both the sides - very solid argument and discussion is going on.
- Graphics are not realistic.
That part, though I don't agree with this opinion, seems to be an accepted truth here. (I still say it can be done if you, for example, make the sword out of ceramic)
- Anime-ish
Doesn't seem many agree with that - as andre put it the way of Tasmanian devil. So the animation is not eastern but pretty much western.
- Too much flash.
This argument was already brought up before. And all the moves have excessive flash. But you can tone them down. Our youngster generation of players likes flashes. They are the future of gaming and cannot be ignored. We should be happy and grateful to them that they are keeping D&D alive so that we can play it with them.
And Diaoxiane said you can tone them down using options - so it is fine.
Also you never actually see the rotations - just flashes (or that is what seems to me).
Um not to derail the thred too much more, but could you put up a post in your thred on posting things on how you can make a link with plain text insted of the whole URL ?

About double bladed weapons, I think it is better to ask devs in the ask the developers thread. Irrespective of whether it is in 4e or not, if it will be in game or not all depends on developers. The game is only based off the 4e and not a complete copy of it.
Secondly, yes it is there as far as I remember. I am sure I saw someone using it, I will go find the quote.
EDIT:
Found it in adventurer's vault. I was right.
I quote from the 4e book:-
Double Axe: Fitted with an axe head at each end, a double axe offers increased offensive and defensive capabilities.
Great axe (dual edge) was shown in great weapon fighter's art. So I believe that it will be in game.
I think there is alot of missing information based on the paragon paths and the character custimization once they choose their advanced paths. Lack of communication and speculative reasoning can only get us so far but it sure would be nice if more information started pouring in.

Jimminey Crickets that would be a heckuva nice weapon to wield in combat. I can only imagine the skills and combat animations with that bad boy, muhahahaha!

Just one word needed then.... Yyyeeeeeeehhhaaaaaaa!!!
I'm not crazy about the class naming scheme they've got so far but I'm also by no means offended by it.
I'm pretty sure they come straight from the books, which is cool.
GWF looks great, although I agree the spin attack animation looks a little silly. I like the idea of the power, but they should improve that animation.
Still even if they don't, I know I will be playing one!

You never saw the Whirlwind animation from Neverwinter Nights then.

Yep, she's terminator you see. Made of steel and liquid metal. So she can handle that big of a sword like that. I wouldn't be surprized if she could pick a truck and throw too...
For those who are complaining about Spinning Strike here is what the PHB 1 has to say about Vorpal Stike (which I'm assuming is cryptics version of it
"You become a whirling cyclone of death, spinning your weapon about as you strike one foe after another, pushing them back and knocking them down."
Sounds pretty much what was demonstrated.
You can whirl your weapon above your head quite easily without becoming a whirling tazmanian devil. There is a diference long handled axes where often whirled above ones head to without the whole body whirling too.

Has there been any official response on the whirl wind animation? It's a shame it's in there. Three of the first things I noticed about NWO was the GWF weapon sizes, the whirlwind animation and the cleric with only a holy symbol - I agree with the thought this stuff is a little too 'anime' for a D&D setting.
I for one would find the environment more satisfying if those features were gone. Too late in design to change the cleric I'd imagine, but the whirlwind should be an easy fix. Does anyone LIKE the animation for it?
Don't get me wrong though, These and only a few other aspects of NWO should be looked at.. it's Beta though so no biggie. I think NWO is very fun to play, enjoying my time so far!
Trying to get a buddy to play actually - he's chosen a GWF to start and the spinning attack was the first thing he commented on too .. it's like putting a sour grape in his mouth and saying.. keep eating those.. they'll get better. You just have to eat 20 more.
This is suppose to be beta isn't it?! Any Dev's listening to this constructive criticism?

Ok I have returned now! Everything is fine!

Oh! An this is waarrrrr!
p.s. we are recruiting currently.

No!!! Say no to NERFS!!!
Seriously though, as long as it looks cool after slowing it is fine. The "cool factor" of the move should not loose its appeal.

But yeah, a lot of stuff isn't detailed since it's still being refined and tested. Thanks Alpha leak for me to say this!

She has got horns = she is not human.
I guess she is that terminator or something - looking so thing but made of steel. So it is ok for that game to have her I guess.
