    for animal companion, anything that big and flying would be good:
    - gryphon
    - dragon
    - chimera

    for a humanoid I would like a ranger

    Besides upgrading companions with the tomes. Are there any rank 25 or rank 30 companions that you obtain in game not using ardent/celestial coins or from the Zen Shop? Like a dungeon drop? Maybe a reputation vendor or something? More variety of companions would also be great. I want a warlock or a druid companion.

    Anything that fits and respects the lore.
    Otherwise they may just as well fully go the wtf route for Cryptic Mega Crossover, and give us Spock, Scotty and some random npcs from Champions Online.

    A Bladeling Tank Companion would be cool. I like the image of an unarmed mob looking at the Bladeling it has aggro to questioning whether or not it really wants to risk hitting him.

    #1 thing we need are more reliable & useful companions.

    A. Extend beyond level 30
    B. All combat companions should get more increases in stats per level.(def/att ect) an attack pet should not be devoid 100% of all defense.
    C.some better ai or at least some basic controls.

    Then add diversity.

    Personally....I'd like to see the Companion upgrade tomes finally released.....then they will have utility again. Otherwise new companions are pretty much useless as anything but a gold/astrals/zen/money sink.
