Of course we remember that PoS. He took down the most addictive Open World PvP Game at the time. FW was amazing until it got overcashed, but hey! That's probably how you managed to pick up Neverwinter :P!

In MMO terms a single server is most likely a cluster of servers or partitioned out bladecenters with Virtual servers. Lot of the times these are leased from server farms.

You havent played Cryptic games much have you? Trust me on this one its all on the one server XD
Clearly you know nothing about server architecture. Each game will be comprised of multiple physical servers, and are most definetely not all sharing a "server". Having said that though if they are in the same datacenter they likely will be sharing some infrastructure especially in their network connectivity. In all likelihood it was something in this area that failed.
100 my *** the devs has said to us on the forumites channel how it works on CO and STO its a partitioned thingy and it seems NW shares the same thing :P
