I just started playing a little while ago myself, I started a GWF, looking to recreate the Tank Warrior from Rift. The GWF is okay, but then I rolled up a Half-Orc TR after reading several threads.
Holy ****, what a monster it is. It just rips through everything! I love it!
Is it OP, maybe, but there are always draw backs to it also.
Even maxing out a Rogue in Rift, when you got the upper levels, squaring off with wizards and clerics was no easy task.
It's not the Rogue or Thief class in NW that is a problem, its the poor development of the other classes in NW.
They are so far removed from AD&D magic mechanics, that it's a really shameful.
Since there are not a myriad of defensive spells a normal mage or cleric would cast before entering an encounter, they are targets.

It would be best if you petitioned PW to create real Sorcerers and Clerics as are in AD&D - they did so with the TR / Thief, let's do it for the rest!
