Since that pic, at least five more blades over 4 inches (I lost count of the smaller ones, too many temptation when the NRA produces a tribute knife). At least two more katanas and a wakazashi (hand-forged ofcourse, no wall hangers here)

Awesome stuff! I love me a good database diagram, even better when the design is tight and disciplined.

I'm an egalitarian and an ardent believer in freedom, UNTIL it comes time to design a tight database, at which point the inner fascist in me comes out!

A well-designed database is one of life's great things, and the closest I've ever come to making "art". Albeit, rigidly aligned, strictly enforced and beautifully categorized and referential art. :)

There are so many ways to do that.

Ranging as follows (commentary in parentheses):-
    • Add a quick and dirty column because some weenie with 'Business" in their job title writes it as a requirement. (that's not a requirement its a solution, what's the requirement?)
    • Add a quick and dirty column because some weenie with 'Analyst' in their job title misinterpreted the requirement (see above).
    • Add a quick and dirty column because some weenie with BOTH those in their title got told by the project manager to get it in quick. (you can have it quick, you can have it correct, you can have it cheap. Pick one)
    • Take a step back and do Third Normal Form because someone took a two hour class in Microsoft Access and wrote down the buzzwords ('synergistic leverage of world class methodologies' belongs in a Dilbert cartoon)
    • Do it my way, a.k.a. the 'right way', leaving room and opportunity to deal with future requirements because the weenies up above are wearing horse blinkers.

I've been doing database design since the 'stone age', before 'relational' was even in the vocabulary.

I taught structured design methodology to the IT folks at Birmingham Univ in the UK back when most of the folks mentioned in bullets 1-4 were still wearing short pants!

I'd post pics of the rest, but they are mostly firearms (last count about a dozen). Blades are in the dozens, never one out of hands reach.

Tai-Chi sword is nice, bought a hand forged one for my daughter a few years back. So far she still has all her fingers an limbs intact.

*coughs* That would be a borough ;)
But yeah Manhattan is by far the second best of the five boroughs regardless of what the inaccurate news casters say. Let's go Bronx Bombers!

It is definitely interesting to see a then and now picture in the same spot, though. I'll have to do that one day but sadly you have posted more pictures of myself than I own. Even in my trip to DC last week I only had three pictures of taken of me and I'm not sure I want to share em. I really hope the camera adds five pounds because it's time for me to start a diet haha!

My favorite city is Budapest. The architecture, the atmosphere, the people, the attitudes: all were just...quiet, calming and uplifting.

I also love the Las Vegas atmosphere.

(Opposites, but I enjoy them both very much!)

I have no weapons, I have no alcohol. (Not against it, just don't drink very often.) So no new pics from me.

But really enjoying this thread, and the different themes running through it. :)

This forum thread is about getting to know your fellow players, mostly visually.

Other threads in here are sharing other 'common bonds' , ranging from musical tastes ("what are you listening to"), through pretty much anything else at random ("Brian Blessed in Flash Gordon").

Friendships, championships, guild requirements, all are in here somewhere (or elsewhere close-by).

Yes,there are people in here that I dislike, and vice versa. Same for you. We do, however, have something in common. A love of D&D. We don't need to meet face to face. There might come a time when I'm playing a cleric and spot someone in need of a heal. If its you, my mind might say to me "hey,I know you!" and I'll toss a heal your way because I recognize your name from here. There's more likely a time when you'll spot me running away as fast as I can with some horrendous thing after me and you will say to yourself "Hey, I can help her!" ( or possibly,"'screw that bizatch, she picked on me on the forums!").

In the end tho, we all have one thing in common, a love of Neverwinter.

We come from all walks of life. We share a common bond in role-playing and/or gaming (not that the two are any different). We all have our hopes and dreams, we all have our likes and dislikes, we all have our little peccadillo's, we all go from day to day trying to survive and prosper, to do the best can we can for those we love. Some of us have jobs , some have careers, some don't.

Guess what I have done in years past... Here's a pictorial clue or two...

Alright guys, I had hoped this issue would slip quietly into the abyss but you all do deserve an explanation for the rulings on firearms.

The decision to not permit them on the forums was not a lighthearted decision. Sominator and I decided on this course after considering the deeper implications of firearms being posted on the forums.
I know at least my initial reaction was that there wasn't any problem with posting pictures of firearms but upon considering the state of the world laws and especially the recent events in the United States we decided it was best to not permit firearms on the forums.

A simple one line summary: Firearms are a gateway to other issues on the forums.
Users could decide to dislike people simply because they showed they "support" firearms. Parents could get upset. Political debates like the ones which occurred here could come up. Etc...

We want you guys to come here and have fun and that's why controversial discussions aren't permitted by the Rules of Conduct. Firearms or pictures of firearms would be a gateway towards controversial discussions.

If this was a game revolving around guns I am sure the ruling would be a little different but it's based on Dungeons and Dragons. Please post your arsenal of swords and armor! I love seeing other people's fantasy gear.
But we ask, with much lament, that firearms are kept off the forums to avoid any unnecessary complications within the community.

To get things a bit more back on track here's one of myself and my brother at a 2007 Ren Faire.
My sister can't use a digital camera so this doesn't often get posted.

We each have one of my uncle's custom made dragon themed weapons. The details are really hard to see but the axe is a 2 Handed Axe in which the blades are actually dragon wings. The sword I am holding has a dragon head hilt, the crossguards are horns, eyes are ruby gems and it has a tiger's eye gem in it's half open mouth to match the pommel.
He also has a dragon themed greatsword but he was wearing it that year and I think he would kill me if I posted his picture. Maybe I'll censor him out later...

Again, sorry for the horrible photo. My sister doesn't get to take pictures anymore ;)
Not that I look good in them anyway, haha!

I hear what your saying and that is why i left the company (who i wont mention) and started working for myself.

Anyways, that quick and dirty column, leads to spaghetti coding, lol.

I remember getting a task to update (fix) a program that was designed by a neanderthal who had an IQ of a hubcap, and it was a mess, all the little fixes (Band-aids)and my fav... no comments.

Not to derail this wicked thread, just speaking (typing) out-loud!

No! I have a 5 year old. Thankfully, I am a very hyper person who doesn't require but a few hours of rest a night. I can already tell this baby might be a night owl as it's when he is most active right now.

Ah well then you should be good, 5 years is also a nice age gap, the 5 year old will want to 'help'.

I have 4 myself but my eldest is 16 now - not that that's any easier, she costs me a fortune.

I bet! I remember being a teen girl. :) My son is VERY helpful when it comes to stuff like preparing for the baby and helping me clean so excited to have him be so eager. Was worried he would take it poorly being an only child for so long has spoiled him a bit.
