Please, just don't confuse these Closed Beta Weekend Dates with Open Beta. Also, I do not know if these will be the ONLY CBT dates, these are just what has been officially released so far. More information will come in the following days leading up to and beyond these weekend dates.

So people that have lifetime subs in Champions Online and Star Trek Online, and bought Torchlight 2 through PW are getting something really awesome added to that $200 package or a discount to it... right? RIGHT?? *crosses fingers*

tbh i realy hope that this isnt the only option to get a chance to beta. for a game that is suppose to be f2p starting to see stuff like this doesnt inspire that much trust on what will be made available. i know game needs to be supported but this way seems a bit pricy especialy when its only for 3 weekends.

Some people - at least two dozen in the last couple of weeks - got closed beta keys for free from PWE and other players...

Just to clear something up, the part in that article that states in the subject line, "You can play Drizzt" - is VERY misleading. You CANNOT be Drizzt. You can however, if you buy that particular Package, have a similar background to his for your drow character(s).

Hero of the North Founder’s Pack:

For the ultimate Neverwinter experience, the Hero of the North Founder’s Pack costs $199.99 USD (valued at $549.00). It guarantees entry to all three Beta Weekends, includes VIP access to Moonstone Mask Tavern, early access to The Foundry (Neverwinter’s user-generated content creation tool), fifteen additional in-game items, plus features the following exclusive items that are only available through the Founders’ Pack program:

Five-day head start access to Neverwinter Open Beta
    Beta Weekend Friend Invite code
Exclusive access to ‘Menzoberranzan Renegade’, a drow playable race like the legendary ranger Drizzt Do’Urden, complete with unique racial abilities and tattoo
    Unique ‘Armored Spider’ mount
    Unique ‘Panther Companion’
    In-game and forum ‘Founder’ title
VIP Game Access to skip-the-line and get priority log-in access

Can someone explain to me what in this pack is "valued at $549.00" surely there is more than what is listed here?

I thought the free to play would only micro transaction via cash shop and not a freemium model :O
Because the way I see it, that race is exclusive to someone who pays, isn't that kind of freemium thingy?

I think the most important thing to take from this news, if it is all correct, is that the first closed beta will be in 2 weeks.

Regardless of the founder's packs, I'm excited!

Hmm... I gotta say I like the marketing strategy. I take back what I said about them. Good Plan! (imo) :D

Now only if they can release a clean pack like Selune's followers rather than those dirty drow...

    There is
    Exclusive Drow Costume
12 Inventory slots (I'm assuming additional)
    750 000 Astral Diamonds
    3 Extra Character Slots
    Greycloak's Legacy Item
    Immediate Foundry Access
    Full Respec Token

I'm assuming if you were to buy everything in the pack separately using Zen it would cost 549 bucks in total also who knows how much 750 000 Astral Diamonds would cost to buy

As to labeling it "freemium" its not these are optional purchases. You can still play as a drow however you get a specific unlock like Zebular said and a Drow Costume to make you look bad <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> ala Dritzz

I might consider getting the $60 one, but I'm not convinced enough about this game to drop $200 on it.

Can we get confirmation that all these things will be avalaible via the cash shop individually? Other than the early beta acces etc And clarification on "greycloaks legacy item" and will that be available other than from this pack?

=o special drow renegade race.. cool
wonder what skills will it have

2 questions.. well 3 if count the top one ^^

will the "thing that unlocks it" (renegade drow) be available to trade in auction houses?

that's if it will be sold in cash shop later on ??

would be cool if ppl in other countries can buy them "unlockers" using ingame currency...
especially when it cost alot in other countries. currentcy exchange

I would assume that some of these are exclusive items and that they gave an approximate price tag if they were to put it up, however, who knows. Pinpoint said he would have additional details tomorrow.

It's not a race. It is a character creation background, called "Menzoberranzan Renegade," when making a drow. Drow will be available to all.

Umm, I really hope the 200-300 dollars I paid for a lifetime sub to STO get me into the beta sooner rather than later.

I wouldnt have a problem paying 200 bucks for a founders pack for this game but I want the beta access that was promised me FIRST, then I can make the determination if the game is worth dumping 200 bucks into.

Yeah I kinda agre with bitterwinter here. Founder's pack is something everyone is doing these days - even kickstarters like pathfinder's online etc.

You are not compelled to buy it. Even I won't buy it cos I play no drows but I will squee if they give me Silverstar paragon path with founder's pack! (I will buy it even if I won't play game much except for fuondry. tch... my vanity :p)

I'm guessing that this means, when creating a character with that background, you'll have a different set of traits or addition traits that non-Renagade drow background characters won't have. We're going to have to wait for further clarification and press releases however. Hopefully this and many other questions will be answered when the promotion goes live tomorrow.

...... still not being duped into buying access to an unfinished game myself, but they ARE throwing the right words at the right people, I'll give them that. And I'm sure they'll make a ton of money from this promotion of their "free to play" game, too.

Of course, it still seems like people that got spent their money to get into beta from earlier promos (STO, CO, TL2) are getting the shaft, because if enough people fall for this and buy the current promotion (i.e. the people desperate enough to create an anonymous drow character that rhymes with Grizzt), it's THOSE people that are going to have the first impact on the game, hence the most influence at its earlier stages. They said it themselves, those people are getting into beta first, right? It almost makes me facepalm.....

Logically, you should wait for the next promo closest to these beta dates. Of course, you'll have to probably pay an extra $100 for an ATTEMPT to help shape the game for the better. Haven't the mods themselves said that there would be MULTIPLE OTHER opportunities to get in?

Ruin I believe it pinpoint's official post he indicates that these are "some" of the closed beta tests.
