July 12 - Chokey the Clown

A summarily undead clown. Much as in life, he goes to parties to irreversibly scare children.

I might've been listening to Demonic Circus Music while making this.

For Monday 11th Aug - Sidestep

Her only Meta-Power is Teleportation. Other than that she's no Superhero. She was given special train with a variety of weapons and hand-to-hand combat, but she's still a kid and when her fear gets the better of her, she flees.

Her meta-powers were recently tested again and the test showed a a remarkable aptitude with her teleportation ability. It is believed, that over time, she could gain the ability to move others when she teleports, as well. Perhaps as many a 4 other persons.

Except for the earrings, which can easily be found, acquired on the AH, swapped out for others, or removed entirely, every costume parts is free.

The concept is perfect for any shooty, cutty, or punchy heroes that like to use teleport to get in and out of trouble fast.

I've been meaning to say actually, yeah, the costume files don't show up in-game. I suspect the site you're hosting on is doing some sneaky corruption of the file, Zed.

How long has this been going on?

What was the last file you have of mine that worked? Or are they ALL suddenly useless?

Edit - I just create a new Google Plus Photo Folder and uploaded a new costume file to to see if it changed it, then saved it back to my pc in a different folder. Everyone of my file on GP Photo is smaller than the one that left my PC.

Look like I'll need to find a new place to upload my costumes to. It was SOOOOOOOOO much easier back when the CO Forums allowed easy sharing of costumes and cap right from the forums.

More than half of a years work and I can't share it with anyone.

I always use Photobucket for sharing the costume files, since they don't change the name (and don't seem to change any other data.) Everything else I upload to Imgur since it's not a huge slog to go through 3 pages to upload each image over there.

    Costume_ZamuelNow_SurAlerte_CC_Comic_Page_Blue_458524183.jpgCostume_ZamuelNow_SurAlerte_CC_Comic_Page_Blue_458524100.jpg

*sigh* How can one outfit make you feel so happy and sad at the same time?

This outfit is inspired by something bluman did a while back, a revised version of the Fire character from before On Alert. Taking that inspiration along with zed's emblem trick I crafted this. Ran smack into two key disappointments. Unless I vastly overlooked it, the female version didn't have the same tights texture so it had to be vastly different. Second, the bottom half of the male texture didn't line up with the top as far as colors were concerned. Still uploading it but I wish this stuff was fixed. I guess I should supposedly file a bug report?

Also, I apologize to those French speaking Canadians since I'm quite sure the name is grammatically incorrect.

I'll check it out and see about uploading all my now unfuntioning costume files. They work on my PC, obviously, just not after I put them up on Picasa ( or what used to be Picasa before Google got there hands on it).

I ran into male/female costume difference when I made the Blue Willow pair. It is so odd that even some simple patterns on tights do not cross over.

Is Google correct? Were you trying to say Sour Alert? Were you that disappointed? Is that why the costumes were lemon colored?

Was trying to say "On Alert". It actually gave one option that was "sur l'aterte" when typed together and I foolishly tried to split it up.

    Anyone have better suggestions?

Nothing wrong with Sur L'alerte as far as I'm concerned.

Edit - BTW - I'm up to page 21 in the process of replacing my faulty hero files. Copper Top if you want to know.

I skipped a few, here and there - For Reasons - as my niece likes to say. I'll go back and fix them later, if I ever feel the need to. Mostly the files I skipped were never meant to be fleshed out heroes, just silliness to learn from.

Edit 2 - Now I'm up to page 34. Not done. but slowly getting there. Gonna take a break tonight and try and play some.

    Redcoat

(Requires New Shadows Jacket, Victorian set (neck))

Simple one this week, but hopefully she's suitably sassy for our liking, o peanut gallery. This is actually adapted from the fancy dress outfit I made for my main character Exile for July 4th, but since I was out that evening I didn't have the opportunity to troll Club Caprice in it. Ah well. Instead I took the outfit and redesigned the wearer. She's got blue hair, because... you gotta have blue hair.

This is by no means an accurate representation of British army uniforms in the 18th century. The waistcoat is sadly colour-locked to match the jacket, while it should be white. Also the jacket and waistcoat should both be longer. Still, it's decent enough.

This is so simple yet it works so well. Plus, it still sneaks in a few tricks via color usage. Always remember that one of the sneakiest tricks for "more" tights designs is to selectively double up on a color.

it is a sexual term commonly used in the eastern region of the united states among teenagers during "sexting".

    Happy Friday!

Today I had an idea for a Munitions-based character, one the is both strong and sexy. She is willing to bear arms... with bare arms. She's not afraid to show a little (or a lot) of skin, while tanning the hides of the city's criminals.

So now she needs a name, but what to call this gun-toting queen of the glock? The answer to that is simple... Hot Lead. Why ever would I call her anything else?

So weird. My day had one just like it.

That thing looks cool. I like it

I actually got the name from one of my favourite superhero Series, 'Zenith' created by writer Grant Morrison and artist Steve Yeowell, with original character designs by Brendan McCarthy, it first appeared in 2000 AD #535 (22 August 1987).Which is an amazingly brilliant read.

    Here's a little taste....

Robert McDowell, alias Zenith, was the son of two members of Cloud 9, a super-team of the '60s assembled by the British military who had rebelled and become hippies and psychedelic fashion icons. Zenith himself used his somewhat unreliable super-human abilities, not to fight evil, but to promote his career as a pop singer. Shallow, spoilt, self-centred and initially cowardly, he was reluctantly dragged into the struggle against malevolent, supernatural entities known as the Lloigor or "Many-Angled Ones".

The British superhuman project "Maximan" had emerged from work brought over by defecting Nazi scientists in World War II, in turn, having been developed from knowledge obtained from the Lloigor. The Nazis had created "Masterman", but in fact, the real purpose of the project was to produce host bodies strong enough to house the Lloigor's spirits. Due to those circumstances, within the story's alternate history, Berlin was the target of the first nuclear weapon, not Hiroshima or Nagasaki, mainly because both the British and Nazi supermen were fighting in Berlin at the time.

The British superheroes came of age during the tumultuous '60s, and promptly rebelled, as did many teens of that time. Ultimately, Zenith's parents were killed, (by American psychic agents - although that is not revealed until later in the storyline,) other members of Cloud 9 disappeared, and the few remaining (having lost their powers,) retreated into civilian life: Peter St. John, (Mandala) became a Member of Parliament for the Conservative Party, and Ruby Fox (Voltage), a journalist and writer. Siadwell Rhys (Red Dragon) owned a pub in Wales - where he apparently spent much of his time drunk.

    Happy Friday!

I had no idea what I was going to do for a costume this week, so I just started playing around with some new pieces. I chose the star tights since I haven't really explored the possibilities with them. Picked up Lifetime from the sale so there are the nifty retro parts.

Alright, this guy is a former astronaut who absorbed some sort of cosmic radiation and underwent metabolic and slight physical changes, giving him strange powers. I also believe his brain got a little scrambled, which would explain the costume's odd coloring...

...or perhaps he's and alien with a very unusual fashion sense (shrugs).

Well, I'll leave that up to you to decide. By the way, his name is:

I call this hero The Purple Mage of Issmir after the creator of the original blue mage created by the player who when by the moniker Issmir. I did nothing more than switch the colors. And maybe added a bit of facial hair. Issmir did the heavy lifting though. :)

Here's a copy of the blue version.

Actually, without the blue version, I would never have figured out how to create my Blue Willow pair of male/female heroes. So Thanks Issmir, where ever you are. :)

    The Augmented Agent

(Requires: Classic Heroic Tights set (head), Nighthawk set (legs), Mechassassin glove unlock (gun hand), Legacy Power Armor set (chest), Sci-Fi Soldier set (collar), Robotic Aural Enhancements unlock (ear caps)

Your wanted augmented skin? I got your augmented skin right here. Also, it should come as no surprise that I'm using Deus Ex: Human Revolution for the colour scheme. Lots of black and gold in that game.

Anyhow, using skin-coloured tights is a tried and true technique, and it works really well for humanoid robots and cyborgs. We have the technology to disguise them as humans in real life, why not do it here too?

    And now some Serious Business.

    ((dons serious face))

I think it's pretty clear that we've pretty much run out of steam in this thread, and regular contributions are drying up. That's not a terrible thing, we've done really well to get through more than half the year, and we can still chalk it up as an achievement. The question is what to do next.

One option is to shake each others hands, bow out gracefully and say we had a decent run and let's just chill until January when we can have another go at it.

Another option is to carry on as we are, dribbling into a standstill.

The third option is to switch up the way we're contributing, and instead of people taking a particular day, divide up the rest of the year on a weekly basis. So We agree to do seven days of costumes, then hand over to whoever wants to do the next week. That way it suits individual schedules better, since you're not beholden to coming up with something on demand once a week. Rather, you choose a week to trot out a handful of costumes, then relax for a few weeks while others tae over. Since inspiration seems to strike in waves, this would probably work better from a creative standpoint. It would also help individual creators tie their weeks' costumes to a theme.

    Thoughts?

((serious face falls off, revealing a horrific Joker mask underneath))

    Whoops.

Bare minimum, I still have every intention of finishing out the alternate AT concepts w/ free parts (plus Devastator). I've been slightly staggering mine since I need to resub to get access to some of the paid ATs with custom weapons. I don't know if people have actually run out of steam or if they're on vacation or running low on ideas. Considering the number of extras, does anyone know the exact number we're sitting on? May take some work but I think we can hit a proper 365 entries even if the output isn't on a consistent timeline.

    Speaking of entries...

    Whatever day needs it:

This uses some strong glow on the headpiece that's not obvious on the costume files.

The way I feel about it this....

When we first began this project, I basically held my breath in anticipation April 6. Which was the date of the last costume posted by dinahmightcoh. I stopped holding my breath on April 7th. Every costume past that point has been gravy afaic.

In June I was having a costume creation crisis. I may have post some subpar costumes during that month, but most of you guys seemed un-phased by our passing of the mid-point of the year. In July, I managed to get my second wind. Will that wind carry me to the end of the year? I don't know, but I'm still doing well for the moment.

If bobsy wants to ease off, and take a vacation from posting a costume each week, then take a break. You've certainly earned it. You certainly posted more, and better quality fill-ins, than I have.

As far as your ideas about posting, bobsy, how about this...

You guys start posting the way zamuelpwe does and let me worry about the dates and order of the posts. Just do your best to post a single costume per post, unless, like zamuelpwe and the male/female sets, or you have a thematic reason, like bobsy UK hero team.

As far as, how many more costume until reaching 365? Well, I was in the process of looking back through the threads and counting every usable costume file, when I got side tracked with the groups discovery of my own costume files being broken by Google. I believe we need fewer than 90 hero files atm, but I'm unsure. I'll try to check again before the coming weekend is over and post my findings.

We should also keep in mind that velis3 and bluhman have been rather consistent posters, so it's no problem if they maintain that weekly consistency, but it's also no problem if they decide to post 7 costume on one day.

Hell, I ain't stopping. This could end up being "52 costumes made by this egotistical maniac that nobody can use over the course of multiple saturdays" for all I care!

If you really wanted to breathe new life into this, though, just edit the OP to mention open slots and say that you're accepting dudes. That might get some people to fill in.

Heck, you could even suggest people to just come in on a single-time basis.

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I'd be happy to help... but I'm not interested in figuring out where to host images, arguing with name changing algorithms, etc. If there's someone I could, say, e-mail some costume files to, and have them get the files accessible to the wider web...

Dusted off an older unused file. Was for an older archetype concept but never completed.

    Happy Friday!

Edit: forgot to comment on the Serious Business.
I think I'd like to keep my Fridays (even if I am late sometimes) but I would have no problem with opening slots to new people or one-shots guests or even a "Costume Creation Free-For-All". Costumes are costumes. This is the Costume A Day 2014 thread, it never specified who has to make the costumes. We've passed the halfway point, maybe we just need a little new blood to finish out the year.
    End Edit

Well, once again I ran out of time, and once again I made the trek down to the archives. *Coughhhcough* Next time I must remember to take my feather duster, it's pretty dusty down there.

Ok, on with the show. This young lady likes the color purple, school uniforms and buttkicking criminals with her dual blades. Underneath her (somewhat) inappropriate educational system attire, she is wearing the latest in stylish armor: Flexsteel. Strong as steel, fits like a glove.*

Her name is Barbara Montgomery but she would prefer that you call her Bladeweaver. I suggest you listen to the lady.

    Bladeweaver
    Bladeweaver.jpg
    Costume_Velis3_Bladeweaver_CC_Comic_Page_Blue_363329790.jpg

So ends another week but I would like to add one comment. If you use this costume, feel free to change the colors. In fact, I insist. I've already been fined once for "the excessive use of the color Purple". Buyer beware, or somesuch.

*The Flexsteel Corporation acknowledges that this is a shameless plug for their product and directly states that they don't care. Also, their lawyers say it is completely legal... well, mostly.

I am afraid that I must make an announcement. In light of the above statement I made, said announcement might strike you as very ironic...

    A superb cyborg swordswoman.

Superb in the sense that she's good at fighting. Whether she actually looks fabulous while doing it is up to you.
