A question to all about the floating candles in the Mystic Sanctum.
Would you be ok with the idea of moving the candles into the "Ambient Effects" group, with the Books. This would allow you to turn off the candles, but would also mean you could NOT have both the candles AND the books visible at the same time.
Would anyone be heartbroken if you couldn't have both?
Crafting tables, (if added) will almost certainly be in another room, not a replacement for anything you've seen so far.
I myself would be rather saddened yes if I couldn't have both.
Cave: Fill the bottom with water and give me frickin sharks with fricken laser-beams on their heads!
Unfortunely, sharks were put in the endangered species while you where in cryogenic sleep. We have seabass... they are ahh... mutated seabass
Also...
some nice swim-able water at the bottom of the cave would be nice!
/Signed...
...on the swim-able water. We could use a hideout with some sort of pool (natural or otherwise), and the Caves seem like the most likely category out of the initial four hideouts for pool option. Having an extra pool option with plants and waterfall would be nice (not necessarily to replace the existing option, but rather as an alternate option instead).
Hmm, question: Would it be possible to include a Books & Candles effect for "Ambient Effects" along with that change? Something like this:
Ambien Effects
None
Flying Books
Floating Candles
Books & Candles (which would inlcude both of the above as one single effect)
Something like what I included above might be an easier fix than making a new effect group just for the candles, and would give us more ambient effects options as well as allow us to keep both, Books and Candles if we want them, or get rid of one or the other if we don't like to have both.
Yes, this is doable, and I'll try to do that for this one instance. However, in the future, if more is added, I don't want to be making combo groups for 1000 different possible combinations. And the more that's added, the more complex that gets. So, this one time. . .ok. Don't expect to get every combo under the sun in the future though.

Unfortunately the nature of the Moon Map means we can't swap things as easily as we can in others. I'm too lazy to go find my real post on this matter, but the moon uses terrain, which I can't swap. And as you mention, the low grav is inherent to the map as well, so we can't really turn that off. All of that, plus my own personal feelings means that I'd rather make new stuff for new locales. I think it's cooler, and keeps things more unique.
Awww, I didn't notice this before. It's a shame the Moon Base wasn't constructed in a way that allows you to swap the exterior for other locales. I was starting to think of it more as a "Domed Base" (a dome shaped base) rather than a Moon Base per se, because I saw a lot of posibility for it being used for other locations, particularly with this in mind...
And more will unlock if you get another hideout in the same category. ANY "OPTION" that only has one choice right now, is only because you only have one hideout in that category.
...we need more variations of existing hideouts (categories) in order to get more options for customization. So if you make something completely new with each concept we might end up getting less customization options per hideouts, since each hideout will become its own category (unless I'm missing something from what you were trying to say and you can still make these totally new Domed Bases into the same category as the Moon Base even if they're totally different, in which case all that I just said would be moot ).
On a more recent post....

LOL, I expected as much. I just figured it would be nice to have an option to keep both, since they went with the "Mystic Sanctum" theme. I suppect other Sanctums will have their own ambient effects, and that we won't necessarily get multiple options for the new effects added by those Sanctums, and much less be able to mix ambient effects of different hideouts from the same category*.
* unless we get some sort of option to specify two Ambient Effects (like the ability to select an Ambient Effect 01 and Ambient Effect 02, and select each of these from any Sanctum hideouts we have), but I'm not gonna push it (since I know that would be even more work... unless it's actually doable)
For the Caves, there is a large empty section that we can't access due to an invisible wall. I'd love it if we could expand into this region ourselves with another platform, but something else that could be just as cool would be the option to fill up this empty space with something interesting.
*An giant egg that moves occasionally
*An angry Teliosaurus Rex that's trying to get into your hideout, or maybe just a stuffed Teliosaurus Rex, a la the Batcave.
*A parked vehicle
*Vines
*Bats/birds/what-have-you that fly in circles
*Ancient statue, perhaps Lemurian
*Gigantic crystal
Not sure if these were suggested, but here's several:
**GUEST BOOK**
- A guest book where your visitors can sign you a little note saying hi. Otherwise, maybe a record book of who has visited your place (could be their character name or both name and username).
- That same book people can view to see a list of all your perks, accomplishments, titles, etc.
**ITEM DISPLAYS**
- Any special gifts (key to the city, etc) are displayed in a glass cabinet or hanging on a wall.
- Maybe for completing an adventure pack or say stopping the apocalypse, you get a group photo of you and the Mayor/Champions/President/Hero contact, with your character's picture with them? It'd be even sweeter if those same people signed the group photo as well.
**COSTUME DISPLAYS**
- A few of your character's costumes hanging on a dummy or in a closet, etc. It would change based on your character. If you have more than a few, then you can designate which costumes would show.
- For example, near the tailor, there would be 2-4 of your costumes on display, in glass cases, ready to be taken out and used. The glass cases protect the costumes from moths and decay.
- I can think of a couple superhero movies in the last 15 years or so that have this, if u need ideas. One is a certain dark warrior who has a sidekick. The other is a true metal head. There's even more examples in the animated versions.
- Another way to display them would be holograms of yourself wearing them in action or posing? The holograms could just be a projection of the costume and then when u open the display, the costume is there inside the hologram display (glass? metal box? crate below?)
**VEHICLE TRANSITIONS**
- If there's no plans to introduce vehicles, then the next best thing would be to have a garage/separate area where you can choose a vehicle to display. If you want more vehicles, one can purchase more. Each time you buy a vehicle, it adds more space to the garage.
- Of course, if you really want to get into the vehicle idea, you could even introduce a separate instance with vehicle interaction. For example, you can have a transition instance where you have to drive/fly/motorboat/etc into town from your hideout. Once you reach the end, it will have an exit option. Exiting will only transition your character to the city/desert/etc.
- The vehicle would act like a device. Once you're in, your powers are replaced with options like horn, turbo/jet engine, missiles, lasers, smoke, grease, lights, sunroof, shields, torpedos (if boat), stealth mode, flamethrower, jump rockets, and whatever else u can think of. The path to your destination can include bad guys (optional) or just a leisurely path. Sometimes it's just fun to drive around.
- If the hideouts come equipped with a sidekick that you can design, then that sidekick can optionally ride with you on your journey to the city, etc. It will then be their job to watch the vehicle until you return. :-)
Is there ever going to be the option to choose from more than one type of crime computer? I have a hero that lives in the basement of an abandoned building and that high tech computer looks way out of place.
Yes, this is doable, and I'll try to do that for this one instance. However, in the future, if more is added, I don't want to be making combo groups for 1000 different possible combinations. Tumerboy, you're awesome. Has anybody said that to you yet today? If not, here's your daily dose of awesome.
Here's to hoping that 'computer desk' gets changed to something not quite as magical for the next versions of the Sanctum. If not, it doesn't matter - you've made this place into a great (if a bit spooky and dark) library.
I'd like the ability to have more interactive things in the sanctrum. also maybe more "magic" items. more stairs. i'd like the option to add ghosts, snakes and/or owls.
I would love to see each hideout get a "super rich" set of options - things like fine wood or marble furniture. Large and ornate tables w/ candelabras, chandeliers, fine leather chairs and couches, etc. These could fit almost anywhere, (except maybe the basement).
I would love to have the option to display my costumes as statues in my
hideout.
You walk to one of the (I hope many) possible spots, interact and choose *place hologram
projector/ statue* and choose the costume and you have a holographic or solid version of you
placed on this spot.
You might even place NPC (just decoration) in your hideout.
Place a projector behind the bar, make costume that looks like a bartender,
choose costume and voila! Guards at the door, another champion of yours as
a guest and so on.

No no no, you did it wrong, I wanted floating cats, dancing books, squeeking
dolphins and nasty snakes, NOT floating books squeeking snakes and dancing...
no wait, now i've got it! Dancing ..no, lost it again^^

D'awww guess that means the colors of the candles won't be changeable However, this other change to the candles would be much appreciated. Thanks a lot Tumerboy
Suggestion I would like with mom's basement is if the workout area was interact-able like the punching bag you would actually start punching and kicking it when it's clicked or maybe using the weights if you click the bar bell or dumb bells.
The work station I would like to be able to access more things from it. Crime Computer is nice, but maybe be able to access our mail from it to, to make it a mailbox to be able to grab items or send items to other people.
From the main door I would allow people to actually enter any of the main zones they can choose, not deposit them back in the exact same spot.
I would also like sofa options that don't look run down or worn out.

I don't see bench-presses as possible due to different toon sizes and laying on the bench, but i suppose free weights such as doing a barbell curl emote or triceps emote curl with some free weights that scale to your size I see as technically do-able. Maybe a shadow-boxing looped emote would be thematic as well.

-Far too lazy to see if someone already has brought something similar up. Forgive me if someone has.-
Being so extremely addicted to roleplaying, it's the main reason I wanted a hideout - and Cave was the one that suited my character. Though after having roleplayed a little while in the Cave Hideout with a few fellow, uh... roleplayers, I realized something disturbing: The Cave Hideout wasn't after all very RP-friendly.
Though only because of one factor: The center platform. Both sets of furniture are quite so flawed. The folding table is too large and the chairs that come with it are far too small for it. And the junk set has the same problem with the chairs; some of them are too small.
Personally, I'd be quite content with even just having no furniture at all on the center platform. Sure, other sets would be nice, but just having more room on it would do fine.
what do you mean the chairs are too small? Too small to sit on?
I tested almost everything I placed, using Defender's costume, and then a character I made with the sliders at max. It should function fine?

I think a good idea would be to add more functionality to the base. I like the tailor and crime computer, however you have a crime computer through the mission log already. Make the base crime computer with a trouble alert/ lfg channel, also a selectable zone monitor might be good as well so you can jump in any zone chat (since thats what a lot of people use for lfg anyway). Also if you could get special missions from the base crime computer that would be good too. Mabee a special nemissis mission from the crime computer where the nemissis found your base, then looses his memory after the attack.
A bank in the base would be good, one that all your toons can draw from.
Crafting tables also good, heck id pay for crafting table access added to my hideout from the C-Store
Selectable zone change from the hideout to any zone thats been unlocked(ie your personal jet/mage portal/car/transporter etc)
PVP alowed in hideout, makes for some good roleplay if you every now and then have a knockout fight between friends in the hideout. Lets face it I invited them why cant i challenge them? It also makes a safer environment to take the fight away from the normals
Possably even a temporary power dispenser (getting that special gun from your locker/ specal magic spell/ a few extra granades/minimum use jetpack/limited charge heal device)
just a few ideas, the goal is to make it more functional so players have a reason to go there and share thier hidouts, rather than just a place to hang out. It's nice if you just hang out there but better if theres a reason for going in.

AWSOME IDEA
how about a wanted poster or hologram of your nemisis as well.
Which'd be great, or at least tolerable, if I could dial it back so it could be a place-setter in the meantime. Not an option.
Sorry for being so negative here, but... I had no option to preview but looking at tiny-**** pics that only included the "on" options and no sound, and as a result of getting the one that looked closest to what I thought would work for an apartment, I now have a hideout I'd rather not see again except on new characters specifically made for it.
This is the first wave. This is the one that's supposed to give me a taste and convince me how cool the idea is, so I'll buy future ones. Instead, Cryptic didn't let me see the full options before I got locked into this one, and a Cryptic employee said he had to "pick his battles" and so made the basement lackluster by intent. So rather than putting equal effort into all the starting options, I got suckered into the one even Cryptic apparently knew was subpar, apparently because I shouldn't mind paying cash just to make up for their mistake here.
Yeah, no. One of the options is lacking on bells and whistles the others apparently have? Cryptic, that's your hint that you need to do more with it. Maybe make it free for everyone. Maybe give it more details and flexibility out of the gates. Maybe even hold it back from the initial release until it's ready.
Do a half-assed job, force me to buy into it blind, and expect me to shell out cash just to bring it up to par? That's bad business, bad design, and provides strong arguments that I should spend my money elsewhere.
Sorry if I'm upset here, but after hearing my friends ooh and ahh over the mystic and moonbase lairs, I got excited enough that I wanted to see what Cryptic would do with the basement, and getting told "not much, because we wanted the others to be really cool" makes me feel like I just got conned.
So, in summary, here are my suggestions to Cryptic:
Let us look into the bases first-hand before locking us into a choice.
If one choice is plainly not as good as the others, discount it or even make it free -- you may have limited resources, but that's no excuse for pretending all the options are equivalent when it comes to purchase.
Let us dial options back from the main theme, so we have some flexibility in the application, even if the result is just bare bones.
Give us a discount if we already have a purchase in the appropriate hideout set-up. If you're going to expect us to be fine with only having one or two options at most per set purchase, it'd be nice if you tried to meet us halfway when it comes to shelling out more cash to improve upon your limited designs.
I have to agree the bases need a better preview than whats available, the pictures dont do them justice. How about a 15 min to half hour preview, then if the player dosent like it he hits the refund button and gets his money back with a day to a week lockout on that template unless purchased. this would alow players to preview the whole template and give a good decision on whether or not they want it.
Face it you dont buy a house without a walkthrough first.
From the photo I have of the Primal Cave, I can't see all that much Primal stuff. Granted, it's a mess, and it could be hidden or simply not implemented yet, but here's some pictures I took in-game of objects that I thought could work for the Primal Cave.
how about a wanted poster or hologram of your nemisis as well.
I suggested this too. A hologram/magic crystal projection/computer screen/wanted poster with your current nemesis on it according to theme. It could also serve as the nemesis computer itself. There could also be similar things that display your imprisoned nemesis. also i think our hideouts would be a prime place to... mess with nemesis missions (as in build them up Foundry style) when we do get it and it finally hits. Alas, my idea never caught any flame, but glad to see someone thinking similarly..... Also.. I think this is in the wrong thread ^^;
I havent gone back to read all of this thread. My apologies if this is a repeat.
Please give us the option of changing out the skull topped alter in the Sanctum. Alter, ok, but I HATE the skull thing on top. Doesn't fit a hero, certainly doesn't fit my sorcery using characters. Maybe add a "holy grail" alter option and a lost ark option for more holy inclined heroes? Also for the sanctum, can we get different skins for the tailor mirror?
For some reason, when entering the sleeping pod nearest the right side of the tailor area in the moonbase I was instantly transported to the moonbase exit/entrance 3 times in a row, then on the 4-6th tries it just closed normally.
Please add more furniture options for the cave, moonbase and sanctum. Sleeping area in the cave and an emote to lie down would be cool.
I would like to see an other dimensional looking hideout type. Sort of a non Q-lithic place. Maybe a druidic happy hunting grounds or sacred grove sort of thing and a "heaven realm" kind of thing. For the "heavenly" one, maybe a misty bright sort of room, ghostly semi-visible phantoms occassionally milling about.
Thanks, Tumorboy and all, for all the great hideout work. Many of us are hiding out but waiting for what happens next.
Out of curiosity, will any of the suggestions here or in the Functionality thread be making their way into the game on the days we receive another wave Hideouts, like tomorrow?
<crosses fingers> Come on, giant dragon skeleton for the cave and trophies as a new panel for the cave weapon displays!
I love the new options. But as someone who'd like to have several different sanctums I was wondering if it would be possible to put in the ability to save presets. That way I don't lose my custom sanctum each time I say switch to the Druidic.
Would also love an option on the Druidic sanctum to make parts if it feel more druidy. Specifically the hardwood on the top and central platforms and the stairs, also the wooden pillars. Even if you could say swap them to stone It'd really add to the feel for me.
So let me get this straight. I have to pay another 500 points to get high tech gizmos in the same ice cave I already have?
Dude kinda has a point. 500 points for a hideout is fairly reasonable, 500 points for some new furniture for the hideout you already have...not so sure.
Druid sanctum is very nice, I agree stone stairs would have felt more druidish. Also the only complaint I have is the bottom floor where the tailor pond is is very cramped feeling.
I love the new options. But as someone who'd like to have several different sanctums I was wondering if it would be possible to put in the ability to save presets. That way I don't lose my custom sanctum each time I say switch to the Druidic.
Seconded! This would also be useful if you have a lot of alts and want to have the hideout set exactly the same for all of them. Yeah you can do it by hand but it can be a lot of work.
Some color choices for the cave lift lights would be nice. It's kind of off putting, being able to set the light colors for every light in the Cave, but are stuck with yellow lights for the lift.
Will the weapon models that seem to have been made just for the display cases of some hideouts EVER be seeing the light of day as models that can actually be applied to the weapons of player characters? I thought at first that the "melee pack" was going to include the melee ones out of these, but it looks like all of these awesome things will still be sitting uselessly in the weapon displays.
There are swords, guns, daggers, etc... and even an awesome-looking tech hammer that no one gets to actually use. Why not?
I know this isn't a suggestion for hideouts themselves, but seeing as hideouts are the only place you can currently see these unusable weapon models, I thought this was the best place to bring up the issue.

Did you put them in on porpoise?, personally i think a black cat for the Druidic Sanctum as a pagan pet would have to be on familiar terms.

Oh man, I'd love something like this.
Bring me a chair made entirely out of dinosaur heads! <clap clap!>
Oh, I LOVE dinosaurs! I just love their decapitated heads for use as furniture even more
*looks evilish happy*
me:raptors, ATTACK!!!!!
loganius::eek:
me:hehe...no, don't feed them...no no don ahhh, now look what you did
A bank in the base would be good, one that all your toons can draw from.

It'd also be cool to have a trophy display for the tailor walls, featuring various skulls, tribal knives, spears, and shields.
I'd love to see some new dinosaur-themed pieces, but it's a bit late in the game for that, so these could be cool and quick alternatives
I suggested this too. A hologram/magic crystal projection/computer screen/wanted poster with your current nemesis on it according to theme. It could also serve as the nemesis computer itself. There could also be similar things that display your imprisoned nemesis. also i think our hideouts would be a prime place to... mess with nemesis missions (as in build them up Foundry style) when we do get it and it finally hits. Alas, my idea never caught any flame, but glad to see someone thinking similarly..... Also.. I think this is in the wrong thread ^^;
<crosses fingers> Come on, giant dragon skeleton for the cave and trophies as a new panel for the cave weapon displays!
New options are cool on the tech cave. Not a fan of either of the ceiling details and would love some more options.
I noticed you slipped your character into Champions Most Wanted.
For the WCOC news, why did you just copy and paste the text from the wikipedia article on Batman?
Dude kinda has a point. 500 points for a hideout is fairly reasonable, 500 points for some new furniture for the hideout you already have...not so sure.
Seconded! This would also be useful if you have a lot of alts and want to have the hideout set exactly the same for all of them. Yeah you can do it by hand but it can be a lot of work.
I don't think they were there before and they are kinda unsightly.
