Any possibility of seeing cars and NPC's moving around in the streets below when in the Penthouse?

When you jump off your balcony, I think you should land instead of teleport to your elevator. For those that can't fly up, there should be a door as the very bottom that would then teleport you to your elevator.

The penthouse is magnificent. There is only one thing I can ask for it. If you guys have the tech to allow us to set the time of day in the hideout and you add it to the penthouse it would be PERFECT.

I figure 5 options for time of day:
    Noon
    Evening
    Morning
    Midnight
    Cycling

I LOVE the penthouses! Instant purchase. :) It's like Tumerboy read my mind and designed my dreamhouse. I do have a teeny tiny request though that I hope isn't too difficult. :o

Currently the base of the planters in the living room divider category are concrete and the base of the waterfalls and aquariums are "steel", I'd love to be able to mix and match those materials for the bases, so I could have steel planters or concrete waterfalls. It's a teeny tiny little wrinkle that's almost not worth bothering mentioning but as it seems like it'd be easy to add I thought I'd ask. :)

After spending couple hours with the penthouses..:

The 'office' area feels terribly empty. Large area with only the desk in it.
    - Id like the 'home gym' option from the mom's basement hideout as an option to the center of the floor.
    - alternatively some kind of rug on the office floor.
    - Id also like some kind of wall art or painting as an option to the wall.

Picked up some of the other hideouts I hadn't gotten yet in the sale, I have a suggestion for the alchemist hideout: The Wardrobe in the tailor area is a nice touch but the fact that the entire object flashes is a bit off-putting since it's so large. Could the flash be removed/wardrobe door switch be moved to a smaller object?

edit: ooh, and maybe a "none" option for the display cases in primal cave?

edit2: Would it be possible to make the shower in Mom's Basement work like the showers in the penthouse?

Even if you were in MC proper, you're WAY out of rendering range for smaller objects like cars and people. I doubt this can be put in unless the devs somehow could turn off the 'should you be able to see this?' code for this instance only.

And I second adding a little something to the Tailor room in the Penthouses. A carpet option in front of the desk (so it wouldn't be hit by the rotating table), some chairs scattered around, a TV set, something. Bonus points if they also flipped into the ground and became something else.

That said - these are by far the best Hideouts in CO right now, and I know that any ones that come out in the future will be just as amazing as these. Absolutely outstanding work, Tumerboy.

I just decided to break down and get all three Basement styles, taking advantage of the 50% off sale.

It looks really cool, and almost like I'd want it; want isn't is, at worst, serviceable.

I was surprised to find that Tech only has a Desk for Corner Detail. I would have expected a chemistry set and an electronics table.

In Mon's, an RPG table (cheap conference table surrounded by chairs, and set up for the Champions PnP game complete with GM's screen) would be epic.

Also in Mom's, a wardrobe/armoire with a sewing machine nearby would be a great addition.

And is there any way to customize the area between the tailor and crime computer areas? (It would be a great location for an in-hideout R&D table, if that's ever to happen.)

I almost forgot... better options for the stairway walls would be worth a (small) C-Store purchase, especially if we could get single-color painted walls with the same rainbow slider as is used for power color customization.

This was taken from the roof of the building where the Penthouse is (The "Get to da Choppa!" perk building). From the room, you can see the cars driving by, even one of the DEMON portals below. So you would be able to see them from the Penthouse, and adding just cars and friendly NPC's would give the Penthouse version of MC a more lively feel.

..Apologies if this has already been requested but can the PC capacity be raised beyond ten? Especially with the amount of space in the sanctum and Penthouse, it would be nice to have a few more SG mates be able to get in.

    Thanks!

Huh. That's interesting. I thought that you'd be well out of rendering distance, but it seems I'm totally wrong.

Question though - how far can you see the cars actually drive before they vanish? How many buildings/blocks?

The Penthouse is the best and most amazing hideout so fare, with all those options its so great, but there are a couple of thing that seems off and not right, one thing is that the office area is too empty, a big empty area with only one office desk it just looks off, as one mentioned, a treadmill, some hand weights, a punching bag and/or other exercise equipments could be added.

The two furniture options in the living room area “Single white chair” and “Single Black chair” they seem to be missing something, a big screen TV or something and I am wondering where is the TV?.

It seems the bed is missing some pillows.

The Bathroom seems to be missing an important item or is it behind the door to the left of the mirror and sink :)

Sorry, we can't do cars and NPCs in the city. The only way to get the view, and have the map not be insanely huge memory hog, etc. is to delete large swaths of geo (all of westside is gone for instance, as is Ren Cen, and many of the smaller details in City Center, etc.), as well as pulling all of the NPCs, pathing, etc.

Once we get rid of all of that stuff, the map gets down to a managable size, and we can include the rest of the geo so you have a view. Without removing all of that stuff, the server would likely start to crash with only a few instances of the penthouse running at once.

Well hate to ruin the penthouse cheer mood but.... Caves are borked. Tropical caves are MIA and display case options are just text strings (some others too)...

Also Cave looks really sad by comparison to Penthouse but that's not a bug

Edit: No railing option missing too and no lift control too.

I agree with the others about the workspace being empty. Some shelves or cupboards holding papers and stuff, or some kind of wall-art?

Id also like options for the tailor that don't involve guns. Maybe grappling hooks and similar non-weapon gear.. jetpacks? stuff? Computer-system? Alien-looking weird machinery? Chemistry set?

Oh and the apartment does need a sound system and TV.. I knew something was missing..

And thanks once more for this awesome hideout. I dont need to be able to see cars down there btw. Its fine as is.

On Penthouse : GREAT job, really.
    Few things / improvements anyhow:

    - For a place that looks so luxurious, how come we don't get some Hi-Fi, I mean there seems to be more in mom's basement than in this cocoon. XD I was expecting some big-**** TV / Home Cinema set.

    - The office is too big / empty. How about placing some things in there? An holographic display that pops up when we go secret place mode, that's covered by a pool table? Just like it does for the desk / computer.
(This would require a good bit of work, I realize, but it'd be damn worth it, IMO)

    - Said before, but yes, more options for the tailor please, specifically Power Armors and mystic altars.

    - Also said before: blinds! Or curtains! Come on, my hero isn't an exhibitionist! What would she do if another superhero just flew by her windows when she's relaxing in the shower??? For the steel/glass mode, maybe even polarizing windows, turning them opaque.

    - Also, would be great to have a few more options for the entrance. Like a place to put umbrellas or coats.

    - A few magazines on the tables / kitchen counter. Forbes looking, but CO style, with the hero of the month on the cover.

    - Some ingredients / bottles / pots in the kitchen. It looks so... tidy right now...

    - More statues / art / painting to display around. And various ones, there's too little choice in comics / paintings.

    - Piano and couch! Please! I was so thrilled to see that beautiful piano, but so sad that there were only 2 miserable chairs... and so much empty room around. Please, let me play the piano for more friends.
(ooooh and another clue: interactivity with the piano ^_^)

That's about all I can think of right now. It's already a whole lot. I know that Tumerboy probably has tons of stuff on his plate, but please give him just a little more time.

Oh, and LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE..... no... wait... that's not it...

Ah, yes: GIVE TUMERBOY A RAISE!!!!

I can confirm the untranslated Display Case Contents/Lights strings.

The other things you mention are working for me, but I am missing an option for changing the Lift.

So there's definitively something wonky going on.

    Weird,

I don't know if anyone already posted it
I think it could be cool to show our costumes in the hideout (for example like Batman or Iron man do in their hideout) it can be at the place where there's the tailor instead of guns, you can add an option to select the costume instead of the guns or blade...

others have posted, I'm just agreeing.

something for the large empty area in the office. Chairs, a table, gym equipment, something.

two new options for the living room. 1 with an entertainment center, the other with the piano (love it) but different seating (don't love those chairs.. at all... :) )

the ability to turn the walls opaque, at least around the bedroom/ bathroom.

    a refrigerator in the kitchens!

OH yes.. and one other thing.. how about some black silhouettes of super villains to paste onto the window.. I keep missing the door to the balcony OW!! :D

This is probably obvious, but these were meant for the Social Area and Tailor respectively.

Also, it would be great to be able to choose colors on select items, for heroes with a color-based theme. The colors could use the same dialog style as the color selection for costumes. These would be things such as holograohic images, high-tech ooze, computer displays, light-backed display cases, and so forth. It would be worth a C-Store purchase for that.

I love the hideouts. I stayed up way too late the other night, tinkering with them.
That said, I'd like to make the following suggestions, to better fit my characters.

Vigilante basement - blades/martial arts weapons and body armor instead of the wall-of-guns. Keep the bed.

Penthouse - science lab and mystic library as options in the secret area. It's all weapons at the moment.
    - alternatively, a low-tech weapons cabinet. Swords and bows.

    Butlers:

    They wander around doing.... stuff.

    Penthouse:
    Traditional Alfred / Jarvis.

    Sanctum:
Spectral ghost-butler (think the librarian from ghostbusters)

    Cave:
Mechanic (think Whistler from Blade for activities).

    Basement:
Disembodied Mom & voice footsteps upstairs / fanboy friend downstairs.
Or a mechanic-like weapons-crafter (Blade trinity) at table making arms repairs and inventions. Fixing bike.

Please schedule in to replace the second floor modern art displays of the champions comic art: fantastic creatures, amazing Wong (or whatever its called) and the others - to be replaced with proper modern art of various types.

Its the one (and only) option in the whole penthouse design that lets the design down. I appreciate that it was possibly the only art available to fill that space, but if you could find some that looks like a millionaire/billionaire would be proud of, to replace them, that would be great.
Mom's basement you got away with it because it was kinda in the theme. Here they look like asset filler and don't look like they have any place being on display in a penthouse.

    Thanks. :)

    Colourable lights in the Jacuzzi?

    Moar bubbles™

Different jacuzzi types?: Cleopatra-style Milk + rose petals, bubbling oil (for robots).

Champagne and grapes or caviar on hand around the penthouse.

Kitchen and table are way too devoid of food. Perhaps a seperate option to set table with various types of dinner: tropical, sunday roast, fast food, table for 1,2, full table (I'm just being guided here by how I think SGs would use them).

No coffee or tea on various tables around the penthouse?.
Maybe on coffee tables next to a paper or tablet-pad (ipad) with the Millennium Times clearly displayed.

I agree to the notions of putting a sofa set/flatscreen TV in the office to make it seem less barren. The TV should be inlaid in the descending wall, and the couches could swap with a world radar, or meeting table, or something to that effect. Also, the Living room area does seem to lack its own sense of living-ness without its own TV. :P

I've also saw something of a request to be able to walk on the ground below. I rather like that idea. Keep the perimeter, but removing the warp volume that puts players back in the elevator. Players without flight/teleport/swing could get up by using the door below. Letting people goof around by the fountain and door to their loft adds a sense of 'property' to the thing.

I've been trying to think of new things that could go into the more sparse Basement areas:

    Central Detail:
    Mom's - Ping-Pong Table
Tech - Qularr Bio-Computer [not functional]
    Tech - Tesla Coil
    Vigilante - Martial Arts Dummies
    Vigilante - Punching Bags

    Corner Detail:
    Mom's - Bed
    Mom's - Study Desk
    Tech - Chemistry Set
    Tech - Electronics Workstation
    Vigilante - Crime Lab
    Vigilante - Swords & Knives

    Under the Stairs:
    Mom's - Bicycles
Mom's - Comic Collection [plastic bins]
    Mom's - Garden Supplies
    Tech - Caged Alien Critter
    Vigilante - Gun Crates
    Vigilante - Still More Ammo

    Wall Detail:
    Mom's - Sapphire Shrine
    Mom's - Dartboard
    Tech - Mini Nuclear Reactor
    Vigilante - Gunsmithing Table

Many if not most of these involve things I've seen in-game, so they shouldn't be horribly difficult to transfer into a Hideout.

If it hasnt been said, it needs to be said now.

All the hideouts need a bed/shower combo. The amount of thought that was put into the Penthouse, should have been put into the other bases as well. What would it take to get an activate button in like the Sanctum, except that its a false book you'd pull to reveal this space in question?

    For all the hideouts:

Make them bigger. Why be frugal on the real estate? This is virtual. Also, there should be things you can do in the base. Reasons to get a group of friends together there. Missions that can only happen either in the base or using the base as a starting point. Solo missions as well as missions so tough you need to put together a team. An option to trigger events like a nemesis attack, or an appearance by FoxBat. Everything that can currently be done at Ren Cen should be accessible from the hideout as well. Tailor, Bank, Crime Computer these are a good start. Crafting tables should be in the hideouts already. I don't understand why that wasn't there on day one. Direct line to the Auction House is also a no brainer. Furthermore, we should be able to contact Defender, Dr. Silverback, or any other contacts from our hideout via a viewscreen or holo projector. I should be able to see at a glance from my hideout all the options available to my level in all of the zones, so I can decide where I want to go next. Furthermore, when I leave my hideout I should be able to go to any zone in the game. Maybe you can't rationalize this with the Mom's Basement (i can but maybe you can't). However, I have the moonbase and i don't see why I can't go anywhere on the planet from THE MOON. I always end up returning the same place I left for the hideout.

    For Moonbase:

The option for it to be on the moon, on its own orbit between the Earth & the Moon, or on another planet entirely (maybe another solar system like Alpha Centauri w/2 or 3 stars)

An option for the solar system mobiles as they are currently, but without Pluto. So those who want Pluto can have it and those who don't can remove that dwarf planetoid.

An option to control the gravity so that it simulates Earth, presumably with some gravometric technobabble doohickey.

An option to do away with the blast shield entirely so that it's just a bubble.

If I log out in a sleep pod, when I return to CO as that character I want to come back in the same sleep pod.

Transporter pad or docking bay w/a ship inside it. Makes no sense to have the external doors lead out to the vacuum of space. What, am I flying back to Earth from The Moon on my jet boots? It'd take days. I can't hold my breath that long.

The two side doors should open and go somewhere. even if it's just a hallway that goes around in a circle and doesn't go anywhere but back to the center room. However, it'd be preferable if we had some or all of the following (some of these could be used in all hideouts but i only use moonbase):

Arboretum (inside garden big enough to walk around in and appear to be big enough for food & to offer some transfer of carbon dioxide to oxygen i mean if this were a real space station it'd need to have more greenery in it)
Power room / reactor core (not all of us want solar power only)
Crew facilities (one bunk for each toon)
Astrophysics lab w/a big telescope & star charts on the walls and a table w/graphs.
Mad scientist's laboratory (for my inventor character)
Swimming pool / spa / hot tub / etc (i understand something like this is in the penthouse)
Shower room and *ahem* other amenities
Trophy room which visualizes some or all of my perks as I collect them.
Menagerie / prison where i keep bad guys in temporary holding
Interrogation room where I keep FoxBat, my nemesis, or some other bad guy waiting indefinitely.
A hall of heroes room with statues of all my other characters.
Options to populate the moonbase w/one or more interactive npcs like some robot servants, or a human butler, a trainer, groupies, pizza delivery person, my other characters as npcs monitoring the computer or just lounging around, a guy who washes the windows, or an actual pet like a dog or cat or cute alien creature.

I know all this is impossible. Just throwing in my two cents.

For my first hideout I decided not to go with the hype and to instead go with my gut. So far I am pleased with my decision to get the "Space Agency Moonbase"

    Moonbase
Everything that can currently be done at Ren Cen should be accessible from the hideout as well. Tailor, Bank, Crime Computer these are a good start. Crafting tables should be in the hideouts already. I don't understand why that wasn't there on day one. Direct line to the Auction House is also a no brainer.

I agree with this, but I guess that falls under 'functionallity' rather than just cosmetic/silly things to do.

    * I'd like options to control the gravity.
    * I'd like options to change the way the tailor/crime computer look
    * I'd like to have a holographic screen globe thing appear from the conference table in the center with an option to turn it on and off like a switch in the penthouse or my own crash doors.
    * I'd like to be able to access my hideouts customization options from a panel/object within the moonbase and to save and load saved customizations.
    * Can I go out and play on the moon and or in space...please?
    * MOAR outdoor customizations like maybe a little moon rover that circles my base or security turrets/robots.
    * Robot butler who is also customizable.
    * Just more things to make a hideout seem more lively. All with on and off options.

Also just my two cents, but if you want to make something like this don't just dangle the carrot in front of us and expect us not to be wanting the whole carrot and not just a taste. Go Go Cryptic!

It would be great it you could put mannequins in the hideout, and then attach your alternate costumes to the mannequin, creating your own personal "Museum of Me". This type of thing is seen in the comics and movies.
    Added optional functionality:
a)Walk up to any mannequin and with a click change to that costume
b)Anyone you invite to your hideout could walk up to a mannequin and change to the costume there. (Harder to do I would think, would be great for SG's with uniforms).

They tried this and they couldn't get it to work so they removed it.

You need to buy more hideouts to unlock more options.

Retro Moonbase has a giant globe table IIRC but no option to turn it on or off yet.

To quote Tumerboy on the subject when questioned about allowing us to go up to the crack in the wall in the cave hideouts, "No because there's nothing behind it and if I take the time to design something to fit there you'll want to go out there and keep going further until we have the universe contained within that one hideout.

They are planning to look into hideout NPCs but don't hold your breath.

Tumerboy has unfortunately said that he's taking some time off from hideouts to design mission content so we won't be seeing any more work on hideouts beyond bugfixes for a bit.

I’m really enjoying having a hideout and I’d like to thank all the people involved that made it happen.
That being said, I do have a few suggestions/comments.

First of all, I’d like to be able to ‘save’ my hideout settings. I find it really annoying that the screen pops to adjust the settings every time the hideout is entered. Sure, give me a guest option when I enter, but I don’t change the décor of my place every time I go there.

Secondly, remembering that this game is a business, and the people running it aren’t just out for us to have fun, but that they too have bills to pay, I’d like to see addendums to the hideouts available as purchasable items, most especially workbenches—magic, arms, and science benches should each be separate purchases.

I like the idea of an Add-on room, (Oh…that’s where the other door goes.) Alternatively, a hideout could only have one type of bench which replaces the nonfunctional table. Then again, the add on room might be an easier way to implement it.

I think the danger-room add on is a good idea as well, but I disagree about vehicles. I think vehicles would work better as a purchasable ‘become’ device than a hideout accoutrement. I’ve started a separate thread to discuss this here.
