Sorry for the delay - been away from STO for a bit. Here is typical Normal Argala run solo parse with my posted Pathfinder build (except I put in a second TBRII in lieu of the FBPII) . Not my fastest or slowest, just a normal XP run where I loot everything, leave, then go right back in to repeat the patrol. e.g. No Go Down…
Particle Emission Plasma Torpedo always ejects a 3km radius cloud on impact that slows enemies in it to a crawl. Note that 3km radius covers 27x the volume of space vs. the 1km Gravimetric Torp (when it procs its 33% chance to spawn a rift). PvE Enemies are usually stacked in a 2-D plane, and not 3-D, so the PEP is…
My own theory, based on other things I've read on forums, is that the game mechanic of the cloud from the Particle Emissions Plasma Torpedo was constructed very similar to Eject Warp Plasma. So perhaps it's "bypassing" the usual rules due to how it was constructed. Purely conjecture on my part though. I too like how it is…
The linked thread was started by me. I'm glad to see it has been of use :) To clarify, the Particle Emission Plasma Cloud damage (6 second AoE DoT in 3km radius sphere): * IS definitely boosted by Aux. * IS definitely boosted by PartGens. * It is also boosted by the +Pla modifier from the Fleet Science Consoles! I have…
Update: Added some more rear arc damage Intel Spec points. Now over 38K+ DPS ISA PUG - with >50% Exotic Damage. Once I get Pedal to the Metal, 40K should definitely be doable in a PUG/PickUp Group. Pathfinder Class: U.S.S. Edgefarer - Captain Vyntares Parse (Shows breakout of 36K+ damage, overall team summary, and the…
Changing the Epics into Mk XIV VR will only make you drop DPS by 1K or so, since weapons do so little of the overall damage. Since I've gotten 38K on this build now, 30K DPS with no epics should be quite doable.
One suggestion for more dps. Swap your OSS1/ET2 for ET1/OSS2. You'll get a bit more max power across the board over the 20s OSS duration, and +10 more peak max across the board as well. You'll lose a bit of Hull Heal. The ET will stop the OSS disable, but if ET is on CD, OSS2 has 2/3 the disable time of OSS1 as well. One…
So basically, the max 3 stack of 22.5% on the Emitter Synergy (Scryer Starship) trait is not as powerful boosting Exotic, as a single Tac Weapon power boost console boosts weapons damage....I can get a +25% TAC console pretty easily off exchange, (we won't even talk about the Fleet ones at Mk XIV with 35% that also boost…
Ah I think I get what you are saying now. Yes, Science adds an INCREMENTAL boost to the above, because you are right, most people do run with APB (Pattern, not Power :)) and leech and FAW. But to my point, your posted build does NOT run with either APB or FAW. Thus comparing our "specific" builds, my point stands on…
Ooooo, that is a very nice distinction. Thanks for clarifying. Can you verify that with parses (or was it a visual view of in game log in process?) - I definitely want this to be true. My Secondary Deflector Radiation DoT crit in aggregate was not high enough for PM to be taking full effect, but I can't break out the…
That's more of a roleplaying-centric definition (and the RP in MMORPG "is" roleplaying, so that's OK). But all I care about is if I can achieve similar results of the multi-purpose role, regardless of where it comes from. It's BFAW and Leech, AND Attack Power Beta, AND embassy consoles. We will just agree to disagree on…
Thank you sir, Lots of good points and things I just learned from your post. I'm going to play with AA more, the Ablative Hull is on my "to play with list". Consider my post amended so that I can consider the other items you bring up. Just LOVE how deep and complex these builds can get. I think both Pathfinder builds are…
I love this ship, I love this build, and I love the results. Thank you for sharing it. It definitely gives more things/builds for me to play with in STO. Cryptic should give you a commission on the Gal-X I'm going to buy someday because of this post :)
It's easy to get (3 spec points at top of tree, since you have to spend spec points "somewhere"). Just about everyone spams APB anyways, so it doesn't need any adjustment to most builds to utilize. Basically, it's essentially free and easy. And it's a 3/5th gateway (points spent) to open up Rock and Roll, which is…
My recommendation for your first Specialization Points Spend: 1-3: (PILOT) Reckless Abandon -> Attack Pattern Expertise II. That temp hull with APB (7200 on my build) is so strong. 4-5: (PILOT) Eat my Dust I -> Reckless Abandon. On demand removal of all movement impair (tractor beam, slow, grav well), on use of Evasive =…
I'll have to respectfully offer some counterpoints to that. (1) Agree that it's best with beams, but Sci ships can use beams too - to take advantage of it. (2) I have a 35K Pathfinder (ISA solo queue PUG - not a pre-made) that goes max speed the entire time. It uses 5 beams and one torp, with over 50% of the damage as…
I think the roles between Captain careers are not as explicit as you define them. In the end, the Science Captain gets subuke beam debuff and a pair of shield/defense buffs, vs. the Tac captain's Fire on my mark debuff, and APA and Tac Fleet short damage burst. That's it. Reciprocity puts Tac skills near Global CD, so that…
I'm dying to try this Pathfinder build on my Sci toon. Right now I am highly confident I can get 25K+ and maybe 30K on it with a Sci Captain, in a PUG run of course. That's because some of the Science Capt skills are more defensive, and thus I can live longer to do damage. I die multiple times on just about EVERY run in my…
Thank you for taking the time to reply, and no offense taken, good sir. I get where you are coming from and certainly can see that point of view. I even anticipated that line of thinking. Thus, this link in the original post has a spreadsheet that was very clear on what damage came from where. Whether it's torpedo, sci…
I'm going to have to respectfully disagree somewhat to the above. A tanking Cruiser has many innate, passive "tank" bonuses just in it's Ship Mastery and skills. Bonus to resistance, innate healing, even the shield modulation. The Engr slots are still significant. I agree that the greater traits and specific gear choices…
I went into SB234 casually to get a sense of the landscape, got out - then took an average of the next three runs. Pathfinder / USS Edgefarer - Results in SB234 Normal (my first 3 runs ever after seeing the instance/system) Exact same build as in the 35K ISA PUG run in the Original Post. First Run: 21,790 DPS…
Feedback Pulse is not CD buffed by the DOFF, unfortunately - this is why I use a [SciCmdr] Deflector for the 10% Sci skill CD. But it still has it's uses. I use FBP in the opener (I'm usually at 35K-40K overall dps at that point when the last of the first 4 spheres dies). Depending on how fast/slow the PUG is (check via…
Thank you for the complement! I finally took the plunge into STO in April this year, after years of being curious about it. My Captain has a weird quirk. If he doesn't fall in love with the looks of the ship, he's not as motivated to max it's potential. So far he has successfully hidden from Starfleet Command this severe…
Pretty much my experience too. Our playstyles/approaches are very, very similar with the Pathfinder. The Sphere groups are the biggest challenge to stay alive for the Pathfinder in the scenario you mention. I've tried a lot of things: * Scramble Sensors: Sounds great on paper - Spheres kill each other and not you. In…
That is very true. No one will ever mistake the Pathfinder for a tanking Cruiser. LOL. However, with the right skills available/off CD, and in the right situations, the Pathfinder can live at point blank range trading head to head shots in those scenarios for a short period of time. I have sometimes tanked the final…
Thank you for the reply. The earlier iterations of my Pathfinder had DBB's. It does great damage. I may go back to it some day. What made me use Beam Arrays up front (for now) were a few related things: (1) I want to keep my speed up for Defense reasons (and later on when I get it, Pedal to the Metal 10% damage bonus), and…
I sometimes fly it with Bio-Neural Gel Pack instead of the Zero-Point Energy Console. For the 35K run, the Zero-Point happened to be installed. I think they are roughly equivalent in terms of impacting my total DPS output.
