U.S.S. Voyager was able to land and conduct corrective maintenance on its nacelles. A Starfleet Spacedock is not always nearby. The New and Improved Defiant should have 3 semi spheres on the bottom.

DS9 had the wormhole. Who needs a wormhole when the U.S.S. Dauntless can get you there in only 3 months? The U.S.S. Defiant was too slow and the cloaking device was defeated by an Antiproton Scan: Dominion.
