You see, that's one of the things that I disliked about the way Janeway was written.
On one hand we have, as you say, her making deals wiith the Borg. Said deal resulted in the deaths/assimiliation of the majority of Arturis' people. Though it's a simplistic viewpoint, she basically said "to hell with everyone else" in favour of her own agenda.
On the other hand, she got all angry and obsessive about Captain Ransom ('Equinox')saying "to hell with everyone else" in favour of HIS own agenda. A touch hypocritical if you ask me.
Captain Janeway had a defense.
"There wasn't time to take a poll."
It was possible that 8472 could destroy the Borg and then -everybody else -
in the Milky Way Galaxy. They had superior technology.
Resistance is far from futile when confronting 8472.
On a positive note, Janeway later made friends with 8472. Remember?
Equinox was different. The captain of the Equinox was wearing a Starfleet Uniform
and murdering innocent ETs just to get home to Earth sooner.

True, except, I believe, for this part. Even then, I agree with the intent. Pretty sure the class is named after the first ship in the class. Chicken before the egg stuff, really, but... And NX is reserved for experimental craft. A production-line ship, be it the 1st or the 5th, will (in Starfleet terms, anyways) bear the prefix USS.
Perhaps this ship, if it comes to be, could be named after the Voyager crewmember most responsible for gathering the specs that made building it possible? The USS Tuvoc? USS Torres? USS Paris? God forbid, the USS Janeway? Perhaps some of these names are already taken, or maybe there's a naming protocol that won't allow a ship to be named after someone who is still alive? Who's dead? How about the alien who tried to trap them with the ship in the 1st place? Since it was all his plan, he must have done the designs to look like Federation Specs... Name it after the dead designer?
Anyways, really, I agree: just plain silly. A little disappoited that this alien ship is not only actually on the radar, but slated to come before some long-anticipated Fed-design ships.
not really.. in tng, when geordi was having a love affair with the holographic lea brahms.. the class of the vessel (ie, galaxy) had been determined long before the first ship had been conceived..
and in modern ship building (which is what gene basically fallowed for all his star fleet rules.. (and I know this cause I have worked on projects like this) the class of vessel is determined with the original blue prints, for years, they work the kinks and blue prints before they even plan the building of a ship. and usually, the first ship is the namesake to the class, not the other way around..
also, the nx thing. like the excelsior.. it was nx while it was the prototype. (nx-2000) and once it has gone through the paces of testing, and blah blah blah.. it is then brought into the fleet. (ncc-2000). I wasn't saying it would be nx forever, just prototype versions in shakedown.
I don't really care what they call it.. I wont get one.. but, I like to see adversity in game.. it kills me when a new ship comes out and everyone is in the flavor of the week lol.. I like warping into a pug stf and wondering what ill see, and seeing ships you might not usually see. ie, I love seeing sabre classes and nova classes, and other lesser seen ships.. the more skins they pack in, the better..

you do realize that the bigger part of her decision wasn't just for her ship and crew, but she had said from the first time she opened her mouth about helping the borg, that 8472 was a larger threat that was bent on killing "everything"
she made her decision, which while wiped out one or two races, saved millions of others.. she also made her decision with the data she had in front of her.. like she said, she didn't have time to take a poll...
if they make the dauntless, and they make it true to the show.. it will be fast, and that's about it.. remember, Belana said it was pretty bare bones.. it had minimal defenses, and was tricked out for spead, not defense, and not any kind of offense. its why it was small, and tight..
so I see a ship that is a sci ship, with 3 for 3 aft (or even 2 aft) that is extremely cheap on the tac consoles and boffs, but heavy in sci and a few engineering.
again, onscreen (as you like to point out all of its flavor from on screen) all it was was a fast ship, it was nothing more.. I believe belana's exact words were it was built lean.. that it really could only support the crew for the drive home..
doesn't sound like this grandiose ship you keep hyping up lol...

"The captain of Voyager was wearing a Starfleet Uniform and allowing innocent ETs to be assimilated just to get home to Earth sooner".
when some one is p***ed off do you talk to them then and their? or let them cool down and then talk to them? 8472 was hek bent on weak will perish as i said in the janeways hater thread dont need a massive invasion fleet to kill borg when one ship could take out 15 CUBS or does every one forget that part of the EP? also how some lose sight
Tuvok "over the past 2 hours kess has experienced telepathic visions about the death of borg and the destruction of Voyager" Chakotay "some sort of premonition" Tuvok "maybe" janeway "we just can't ignore her intuition" just like picard would have done if troi told him the same thing imo on that bit
But my opinion remains that Janeway was a hypocrite in 'Equinox', because Captain Ransom's actions were not that far removed from Janeway's during 'Scorpion'.
captain janeway did not trap a being on her ship kills it by doing so then find out hey this dead being make us go fast so we must keep doing this till we get all the way home for me and my crew to all be put in the bring for killing aliens being to get us home as fuel
deleted saw the part i understand this my thing any one who dont cant even understand why janeway did what she did dont have family to take care of more than likely never commanded more then their way to a toilet and why many never make it out of starfleet academy
And one of the worst things? Though I don't recall the episdoe exactly, I don't remember 8472 making a big noise about 'destroying the galaxy'. And the only 'evidence' that Voyager had of ANYTHING was a premonition that Kes had - but THAT only involved dead Borg and Voyager's destruction.
that like in the first 15 mins of the EP.......... and it was telepathic visions Tuvok own words trust me i know when i made that post was quoting it line for line
Yes, but those telepathic visions never indicated a threat to anything other than the Borg and, later, Voyager.
thought you was done debating with me? this like troi saying picard 8472 going to kill all the borg and not going to stop their they going to destroy us to what do you think he would have done? sorry kess has more then just i can read you mind TRIBBLE does ppl forget the abilities she has i think some do judging by their post........
Kes' abilities were in their infancy at that point - it was contact with 8472 that made them expand in the first place.
By all accounts, I tend to presume that 8472 saw her tiny fragile little child mind trying to talk to them and decided to give her a good scare, hoping that Voyager would bugger off, so they could finish off the Borg in private. I mean, how much faith can be put in the telepathic equivalent of a tenth-grade Spanish student?
can you say with 100% certainty they would have stop at the borg no you cant as you was not a director or writer on ST voy you was and still is nothing more than a single digit number 1 Viewer who more than likely wanted the show to be canned but sadly didnt get their wish
Okay - firstly, I am NOT a Janeway hater. I am simply citing an instance where she made a decision, but later took offense (and became downright obsessive) when another Starfleet Captain made a VERY similar decision.
And those premonitions? Well, whilst there were indications that 8472 would attack other species, all that Kes actually saw was dead Borg and destroyed Voyager.
The only aggressive action that 8472 had taken at that point was attacking the Borg - WHO PROVOKED THEM INTO DOING SO, and attacking Voyager - who were initially interfereing and later allied themselves with the Borg.
But my opinion remains that Janeway was a hypocrite in 'Equinox', because Captain Ransom's actions were not that far removed from Janeway's during 'Scorpion'.
Wait a minute. All of you are missing the big picture.
Janeway had to play Lets Make A Deal with the Borg so we could get Jeri Ryan
on Star Trek Voyager. When everybody saw Jeri Ryan in that sexy cat suit then
the ratings skyrocketed!

BTW, on a side note they worked Jeri Ryan to death.

oh wow.. just wow.... so your not looking for a cheap fun ship.. your looking for an I win button witht he skin you like.. well sincer were being super silly about this, heres some over the top silly suggestions to add to your growing list of silly over the top suggestions..
phaser lance that fires at any angle, has no cooldown, and penetrates shields..
all console powers come equipped as "powers" and do not need console slots..
no need to push any buttons. onve your in a mission or stf or pvp, it automatically does everything for you, all you have to do is sit back and watch...
basically, this is what you sound like.. and you are taking was was a cool idea, and really mashing it into the floor for people.. most people have already started ignoring what this thread was about cause its gotten too silly lol... :-)
lets try to be realistic when thinking up what a ship is and what it should do...

I am not really certain what the point of the debate is. Every player wants their favorite ship in the game - or to be all they imagined it to be. The guys who make T5 Connie threads, or T5 NX threads, or fix the Galaxy threads, are all doing the same thing. They all want their favorite ship in the game to make them happy.
I really do not see one person's want being any greater or lesser then the next. We all want something in STO from the IP. The reason many of us are here is because we are Trek fans. It is up to Cryptic to decide whether we get it or not.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
