Alrighty then. So I just posted in 3 other threads in Ten Forward, and every one bumped up to the top except this one: https://imgur.com/a/6oZhZkb Out of the threads tested, this happens to be the only one about the troubles with Cryptic. Someone has clearly disabled it's upward movement setting. **edit** And yes, even…
I'm glad the show will be available for people to watch again, and I hope it gets enough views for them to actually renew it for a S2 one day. Until then, it is effectively "cancelled". But if they think it will make money, they'll come back to it.
Plus, if I understand correctly FTL in SW is actually traveling through an alternate dimension rather than simply traveling normal distance like in Trek. It seems like it would be impossible to reasonably compare these 2 things.
I know the forums are messed up, but I'm talking about something different than you are. All threads get "bumped" to the top (under the last sticky) when someone replies, unless the person is shadowbanned or unless a moderator has changed the setting of the thread to no lo longer get bumped (so it will slowly disappear off…
It appears someone has changed the setting on this thread where replies no longer 'bump' it up, so it will slowly disappear off the first page even though people are still posting in it. Good to know.
And those players don't actually know anything. That said, things obviously aren't great at Cryptic right now with a lot of recent layoffs. It's certainly a bad sign, and anyone that says otherwise is fooling themselves. But to be clear, there is a difference between what I just said and saying STO is doomed. We have no…
That is 100% not true. Whatever these recent events will actually mean for STO remains to be seen, but (that situation) is absolutely not dependent upon some PR spin statement from the company. All companies try to make situations sound better than they really are, so all PR type statements should be seriously questioned.…
IMO, the show is not "saved" yet. To me, "saved" would be actually renewed for more seasons in the future. AFAIK Netflix has picked up the rights to stream the show and will release S2 which was already made, so they are not actually funding anything new (not made) yet. If a S3 happens, that would actually be "saved" IMO.
IMO there are 3 main types of reactions people can have to the latest news: 1: White Knight/Defender: "everything is fine" (burning house meme) 2: Doomsayer: "the end is nigh" / kiss STO goodbye 3: Objective: this doesn't look good, but it's not over till the (insert non-offensive term here) sings. To me, there is no way…
A few updates: Kael tweeted this then deleted it: Nick Diguid (Tumerboy) posted this: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/nickduguid_hey-all-the-axe-fell-at-cryptic-this-morning-activity-7125925425339355137-61ld?trk=public_profile_post_view Scott Boyd (Lead Environment Artist at Cryptic Studios) posted this:…
It sounds to me like "DOOOOOMMM" needs to be *clearly* defined. It seems like some people have no problem with speculation if they agree with it, but if it's speculation they disagree with they want to slap a label on it as off bounds. IMO this is just trying to censor opinions you disagree with. YMMV, but to me a long…
Cool. If you see any DOOOOOOOM postings then do what you gotta do. That said, the last sentence of the OP is literally asking if people think this will lead to any more of Embracer's studios closing, so that's actually part of what this thread is about.
A few things: 1: I'm not suggesting that Nick/Kael aren't telling the truth. I believe them that no one has been laid off at Cryptic (yet). 2: I also believe Cryptic has been told it's coming, hence so many people suddenly looking for work. 3: If people don't want to speculate and would rather just "wait and see", that's…
It's very very important to note that he is speaking only in the immediate present tense. Nothing about his statement indicates changes are not planned, only that they have not been made as of his post. Also, several Cryptic devs as well as Kael (last pic) are now looking for new gigs:…
Thanks for the continued reply! It's really great engaging with you about how the word "season" now means "1 episode" because the game is now primarily focused on gambling instead of mission production. Anyway, best wishes to you and yours on this holiday weekend!
There, I fixed your post for you. You wrote an entire novel just to say 2 sentences. Great job. Anyway, since what you really mean by "season" is "1 episode", I can actually agree with that. It's pathetic that that is what this game has come to, but it's true enough. As someone who has played since beta, when I read…
