The dead-stop happens every time I switch from RPG to Shooter Mode as well as randomly. Seems to happen when I target an enemy though not consistently.
It's been like this for several months now. Sometimes your team (or some of them at least) will make it back to you before the final fight. There is a way of regrouping, but it involves dying and respawning which is less than ideal.
You're right, both about the missing window options and the hideousness of the Cochrane. It's not even made it onto the 'Known Issues' part of today's patch notes though, so we shouldn't hold our breath for a fix.
After getting trapped (oh the irony) bouncing around the anomaly, I changed character for an hour or so and when I logged back in again I was in sector space with the option to continue, which put me in the next map, bypassing the previous bugged one. Reading back the comments on this page, a couple of people did actually…
As entertaining as it is to see my ship bouncing backwards and forwards endlessly in the mouth of the anomaly, I can't help but feel that I could be having more fun if it would stop doing that and let me get on with the rest of the mission.
For some reason, although veteran rewards used to be applied at L1, you don't get them now until L5, except for the 100 day one. Seems a rather pointless change to me, but there it is. My last character had the same problem.
It wasn't, no. I was previously able to claim my android bridge officer (700 day reward) from L1. I didn't actually notice I hadn't got the post-100 day rewards until I was standing at the bridge officer vendor. Also I checked some of my older characters and the Logs record that they were given all the veteran titles…
Well, you are all, of course, absolutely correct. The rest of the veteran rewards do indeed trigger at L5 these days. I'd love to know why Cryptic felt it necessary to change that, but I'm grateful that it's not actually a bug. Thanks for the help.
