....... the Tong'Duj freighter... .... is from the ENT Episode "Marauders".... .... Where it is CLEARLY a modified D5 class battlecruiser.... .... as very obviously pointed out by it's Memory Alpha page. This is not a debate, or literally even arguable. It is what it is. And the fact that the D5 was already being used as a…
The Titan class is a modeswitch ship: the Lt.Com Tac and Com Sci switch ranks when it changes, so it changes to Com Tac and Lt.Com Sci. The Dyson Ships have this exact gimmick.
...... the Tong'Duj IS a D5, modified to BE a freighter. It was literally seen as such in an episode of ENT, as even then, it was an old and outdated design and relegated to being little more than a freighter ship. That link to the STO wiki even has a link to Memory Alpha at the bottom that illustrates this.
Yeah, tbh, I would have preferred Pilot than Miracle Worker. Uh, yeah, this is not a new feature for Science Destroyers. The trade-off is they get a boost to their weapons power, usually.
That's not wrong, but frankly, Command and Intel are incredibly oversaturated as Spec Seats go. Like to the point where it's just kinda boring, to me. Plus, the tight maneuvers the Titan pulled off in LDS (and Riker's own experiences in piloting starships) I thought would have made Pilot a more plausible choice. Like I…
Tbh, I think my only real gripe with the ship overall is that its got a Command spec seat. I think I would have preferred Pilot, or maybe even Miracle Worker, but enh. C'est la vie.
Oooh yeah, Riker did seem to pride himself on his piloting skills. That makes a lot of sense. Hm, for that matter, has any discussion popped up on the Parliament class yet? "Large scale engineering operations" screams Miracle Worker spec to me, so I imagine an Engine version of an Intrepid class, they are both kinda…
So if there is gonna be a T6 Luna, any guesses what its spec would be??? I know the usual "go to's" are Command and Intel but ugh, I think those are kinda saturated as specs to begin with. Seeing as how the basic Luna is a, what, Recon Science Vessel, maybe.... Pilot????
I mentioned this before in my post, but the showrunners are writers who worked on "Rick & Morty" previously, and I believe the animation is highly reminiscent of that show's style. The arrow is more than likely pointing out where the main cast bunks on the ship, what would probably be considered the "Lower Decks" as it…
The showrunners, I believe, are two writers who worked on "Rock & Morty", and the animation is highly reminiscent of that show. I suspect the arrow is pointing out WHERE precisely the main characters bunk on the ship, what would be considered the "Lower Decks" as it were. There's an animated version of the poster itself…
I don't think so, since fundamentally, they have completely different premesis. The Orville is basically just a "Star Trek With Some Jokes", and plays it very straight, it's very much got the typical hero types and adventures. The idea behind Lower Decks, as was mentioned before, is "the least important ship and the least…
I think people expecting a "dreadnought" to always be a Tactical oriented powerhouse are not remembering what a dreadnought's role in this game tends to be. Most ships of the class are cruisers, as they are expected to be the Ultimate Tank-style vessel. Yes, they usually are able to sport almost every weapon imaginable in…
Yeah, it really was basically the new Buran class in the vid. I imagine when the S31 series debuts, it might prompt the devs to make some fresh S31-themed content.
Call me a little confused, but other than the somewhat ominous nature of the clip, what about it indicates it's a S31 event? Not taking a stance here, I'm legitimately asking. Nothing about the vid really says anything other than "here's a ship!". And I've watched it very carefully.
Any idea what class of ship it'll be? One would assume cruiser, given the general configuration of the hull, but the Disco-era ship lineup so far lacks an affordable Science vessel (with the Crossfield being a lockbox ship, not really accessible to most of the playerbase).
Also, to add to the note about Voth ships with power drain: The Voth cruisers deploy an Aceton drone that will drain power and then detonate, with effects of about 5 km or so. The deal with the drone is that it is completely immune to energy damage. Do not fire energy weapons at it. If you do, it creates a damaging…
No, I was thinking about jellyfish. From Wikipedia: The Portuguese Man O' War is also part of the Cnidaria phylum, but you are right, not all Cnidarians are colonial organisms, though the Man O' War is.
This is exactly what I was thinking. The Farpoint Cnidarians have always had the capacity to take on a more starship-like form, and seem to actually be living ships of some sort, not just giant spaceborne animals. In a previous mission, we even communicate with them via spectrographical modulation. To wit: The Uuli…
I cannot begin to even fathom your line of logic here, it is baffling. Mostly because it has little to do with my initial premise of pointing out how the ship market for STO is grossly overinflated and could potentially be countered through certain and specific means if enough of the playerbase put their mind to it,…
Ah yes, because if I wanted it badly enough, I'd just shell out $200 bucks on the spot, like a vast majority of people can just suddenly do that. Like, y'know, people don't have bills to pay on the regular or lives to maintain, that they can just dump money into an invisible investment that has no real world ability to…
Says you. I say that is a gross over-inflation of their value and utterly preposterous. $200 for a single ship, no matter how it is initially acquired, is nonsense. addendum: especially considering that their initial method of acquisition in this case is a completely random chance generator, which can give you a ship on…
Like, the only way to fight that kind of small but controlling circle of players is to basically overwhelm the market with rare ships at far lower prices, thereby "devaluing" them. Or by simply trading ships with each other on a want-to-want basis, despite any perceived value. Like, these ships are selling for millions, if…
One of the ship designers swears they've been tested on maps like that at full size. However, I'll kindly point out that it may be able to physically fit itself into the trenches and corridors..... ..... but maneuvering around them with any kind of efficiency may be another matter entirely, haha.
Are you sure it's the Hyperonic radiation you're being hit with, and not a Thalaron drone or mine being set off near you? My toons can usually survive being tagged by Hyperonic radiation just fine, but Thalaron weapons are no joke and are explicitly designed to be lethal no matter how much you buff yourself.
The sizing issue has been brought up on Twitter. One of the ship designers has already flat-out said that the ships, which are all roughly the same size as each other, are in fact the proper size. Meaning, the Universe class is not scaled down from what we see the Enterprise-J at in the Procyon missions. They were…
The atmospheric flight training is probably not triggering as a result of the Fortress Ship itself no longer being in the Dyson Sphere, but in open space. Also, I don't know if this has been answered anywhere, but: are the Furiadon's Fangs account unlocks once acquired? Or do they have to be ground out per toon?
