Well I solved the missing file issue by going to the STO install location: <drive>:\STO\Star Trek Online_en\Star Trek Online\Live\piggs Deleting bins.hogg and redownloading all 8GB of it. Rather annoying solution but it worked.
Pretty poor form there's no catch for repeated requests which fail. Should be throwing up errors on their end that a file is under repeat request for so long as to download an extra 4GB of data... Seems to be that pesky Dyson_Towers_01.mset file for me too. Gets 50/20151 blocks for it and just sits there stealing…
That's not really an excuse. That's what I'd call a cop out. You keep prioritising Ship bundles over these basic mechanic's fixes, but if there's no-one left to buy the ships because the mechanics are so damn broken, it's not going to make any money any more. The top brass need to start looking at the longer term picture…
LOL so many people crying over something that's only gonna be gone in 48hrs. Just ride out the wave, it's funny watching everything go nuts once in a while. Bort says it's fixed for next patch, whether it is or not is to be seen, but let's see what happens Thursday before the pitchforks are used on those who found this out…
Not so much the 1000 subs should be different, more than all the normal and vet ships special weapons should be able to match the ships loadout, not limit it. Not so much entitlement either, more of a game balance issue too. Same reason as the Ancient Omni-Beam should match the majority of the other weapons instead of…
Lol I don't use Arc for these very reasons. It's shady as fark in the first place, these little failures to keep security tight don't help the claims of Arc being secure. It may not phone home like Origin did on release, doesn't excuse poor security.
But what if someone's Greek :D Good to see, though one thing I'd like to add is that the Armour components, would it be possible to make them mix and match a bit more? For instance I like the webbing and grenades from the Omega set, but want to use them on the Kobali set for a combat Samurai look! That kind of thing :)
TBH all the players I've played with who parse, haven't done that. Admittedly I haven't played with everyone in the DPS channels, but the amount of players who do that are very minimal. There are a few I've heard about who do that though, they are a pain and really don't represent the majority of the players in the DPS…
Ok you haven't been here long have you. Considering the work Salami is doing to get the game back on track unlike the previous EP who would 100% blame the players every damn time, it's been a very very interesting 4 months. Unlike most games that have a proper team to work on bugs as well as the new parts of the game,…
Hmm, please apply this to any government. As it's more than accurate. Oddly the only issue was someone's ego rather than the competitive element which is necessary for all of us in one way or another. Too true.
Short answer is yes they are hampered, only due to the obvious lack of Boff slots, Stats and other very well known stuff. Longer answer is that it's got more to do with your abilities in piloting and building a ship. While some say it's 80% build and 20% piloting, I'd actually say it's closer to 75% piloting and 25% build.…
Just to add to this discussion, DX11 does have performance improvements if coded to use them. If not then it won't do much over DX9. DX11 implementation in both Cryptics flagship titles is woeful. Broken and bugged. I've used multiple gfx cards, and multiple drivers, all result in the same graphics corruption and crashing…
On a separate note I got a DX11 crash again today. Haven't been able to run DX11 mode since it's release. Fatal Error: Direct3D driver returned error code (DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED) while creating a texture. Technical Details: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED while creating RTEX_2D texture size 1280 x 800 (1 mips, RTEX_DXT1,…
For everyone getting stuck with a crash at the character load screen due to DX11, just go to: x:\Install Directory...\Star Trek Online\Live\localdata Edit the gameprefs.pref with notepad and find PrefEntry GfxSettings.DeviceType Direct3D11 Change to: PrefEntry GfxSettings.DeviceType Direct3D9Ex or PrefEntry…
It'd be nice to see the attention to detail transfer to the Gal-X which is still one of the worst models ingame even after the revamp last year. Good ship selection, though would have liked it if the Vor'Cha was involved. Maybe later ;)
O' Rly so what about the maps with only Hazard Suits allowed??? It's not too hard to do, but it would be just as simple to have it so Bikini's couldn't be equipped with anything else so wearing them outside Risa would become an issue.
only happens on PUG's, privates are a single use instance that if succeed or fail aren't used again. PUG's can get people jumping in after start to complete or replace missing people.
I wonder if they are giving more server time to Neverwinter these days. STO gets more and more lag and rubberbanding than ever even when pings are stable and low. Either that or Verizon and Cogentco are still having fights over the price of cheese in Norway :(
lol so much misinfo about Windows OS's here. NT's branch is still present as the Server based OS's, but the codebase was merged with the Win 98 branch to make Win 2000 and subsequently the more user friendly Win XP. XP was an unstable crapfight to deal with most of the time, it's just those lovely rose tinted glasses that…
While a lot of what you have said is logical and in fact far superior than the current setup, you need to basically get past Geko to do it. Not going to happen unless there's a management restructure and PWE suddenly realise than milking a few whales doesn't work as effectively as having balanced pricing measures on a game…
The ambiguity of the original blogs is just a distraction. Trying to bring a legal stance to it is just fruitless and despite people's perceived investment in the game, it's just a virtual ship that was well overpriced and viewed as the pinnacle long after it fell from grace. LoR should have spelt it's demise from the over…
I just made eleventy-billion EC and I learn't it off a Mom from Kansas... Sorry Tamujiin, you lost any respect people would have had from your initial post wording and literally offensive style against the people who populate these forums. If you write with a style that comes across as superior and bragging, then you'll…
Oddly I find Nimoy's (and later Quinto's) portrayal of Spock to be dead on. He's an emotional mess, if you compare him to Data or even Tuvok he falls short of being anything but Kirk's friend. However he's used mighty effectively as a massive spanner in the Star Trek universe's cogs and fills that role perfectly. The…
Yup, because as Porchsong mentioned in a 70s run getting pets out means the second pet gets out with 30s remaining of the run if the first survived the initial cube. If you pop them after the initial cube then you'll get the second out with about 10s remaining if you are lucky. So WFP or W4P is necessary to make sure that…
TBH from everything they've said about changes and working with the engine, it's kinda surprising anyone still works there. To do even basic things like creating ships that have sod all polygons and barely any textures they take months. It's a nightmare, so if the engine itself is just a spaghetti code nightmare I can see…
RNG drops are bad. VERY BAD. Based off RNG some people will never ever complete a set or get that good drop, just from sheer bad luck. Some toons people had never got the drop after playing for 2 years, one of the alt's that player had got it second run. RNG for drops is just bad. Err should I mention that if you combined…
