  • Prolly not a good idea. Some players (like me, for instance) have absolutely no interest in pvp. None. Zero. Ziltch. Nada. If the game had tried to force me to pvp at level 10 then that would have been the end of me playing STO. It's never good to "force feed" something to players who may not want it. It turns them off.
  • 8K per character. And frankly, even if they gave you a master key every day for participating in PvP...I'd still take a pass. There are much more entertaining ways to earn the dil or ec to buy one than flying into the meat-grinder gauntlet. ;)
  • ^^^ 100% agreed ^^^ I also agree with the rest. I play for the story content. I steadfastly refuse to grind. You grind for better gear so you have good enough gear to grind for better gear so you have good enough gear to grind for better gear so you have good enough gear to grind for better gear so you have good enough…
  • So, I thought I'd give it a look-see in order to discover what all the negative backlash is about. Apparently this is what it offers: Check out these awesome benefits for Arc users: -News - Receive the latest news across games with embedded updates from Arc. Ummm...no thanks...? If I'm launching the game it's because I…
  • Nail ---> Head This cuts to the core of the problem. The problem isn't that grinders exist. The problem is that they are currently so pervasive they hog up the visible list. The story/legit combat content that authors pour hours and hours into cannot be found without knowing it exists. Knowing it exists requires the player…
  • This is one of the unfortunate, ongoing issues with the Foundry. The new weighting system combined with the rather smallish list of "browse all" has caused about 30 of the 50 or so missions that show up to be grinders. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of missions that won't show on the list. The only way to find them…
  • Actually, 89 bit format is used in LSFRs (Linear feedback shift register) for cryptology and stream ciphers. LSFRs have also long been used as pseudo random number generators. As far as cryptology goes, 40 and 89-bit LSFRs can be used for fast correlation attacks and provide better analysis (compared to previous methods)…
  • I don't know about "best of all time" (there were some very strong classics mentioned), but one of my favorites has always been "That 70's Show".
  • Yeah, whaddup with this 89-bit stuffz? I demand 69-bit security nowz! :P
  • I recently played "Dereliction Duty" and it seemed pretty well bug-free. I'm sure there were a few convos and hidden thingies I didn't see, but your maps on that one were fine. Btw, awesome mission. As soon as I get 3 hrs free time I'm going to play the next one. :D
  • I, too, have been having your first problem for the past week or so. I was able to use the Foundry for a couple weeks (after the LOR downtime) with relatively few problems (never a CTD), but now I can't open a project or even create a new one without getting CTD. However, this CTD issue started shortly after I disabled…
  • Congratulations! You have posted the one-millionth "I Quit" thread! You win teh interwebz! :P
  • I was an archer once... ...but then I took an arrow to the knee :P Ya had to know that was coming! ;)
  • Actually, it may be worse than that... I did a search by author last night and had only one mission come up. If I'm remembering correctly it was like part 6 or something. I wanted to try out this person's missions, but I'm not gonna start with part 6. I'm pretty sure HippieJohn has more that one mission on the…
  • Oh, you bad-boy with your naughty language! In the spirit of things I've come up with a list of other words that should be censored...ya know, just in case people decide to use them indecently: rub spank eat hard jerk pump lick I've dubbed these the "7 not-so-dirty words".
  • /ugc_freecam 1 to turn it on /ugc_freecam 0 to turn it off ;)
  • Holy "wall 'o text" Batman! If you're staying then pipe down squeaky. The devs will fix what they fix when they fix it. No sense in working yourself up into a lather over stuff you can't control. ;) If you're not staying then bye-bye! Don't let the sub-orbital asteroids hit you in the tail-pipe on your way out of the…
  • I do believe the OP was talking about an auto-kick after 60 seconds of inactivity. The main problem with that is AFKers would quickly learn that they needed to press a button once every x seconds, and then we'd be back to square one with the whole AFK thing. The problem with a vote-kick is that while incidents of abuse…
  • Lol...that's funny. So I couldn't get that to work because my Foundry toon is only level 1? Hahahahahaha... I guess I'll have to make a cheesy little xp farming mission so I can level her up. Sheesh...
  • I could be wrong (and someone please correct me if I am), but I don't think the Foundry will allow you to do that. As far as I know you can only use one Cryptic "asset" at the beginning of your mission. For instance, you could have the player talk to the contact at ESD, but then you'd have to use another asset at ESD to…
  • You rule thegreendragoon1  (lol...I just realized it's "dragoon"...not "dragon") My off-duty officers will owe you a muffin if you figure this out ;)
  • I'm actually at work right now, so I don't have access to the exact name... ...but if I remember correctly it was something like "barstool 001". I think it was the only solo barstool available (but I could be wrong). As far as the sitting animation used...I don't have a clue. I do remember that the npc would lean forward,…
  • Thank you all for your replies. :) I kind of figured it had something to do with the collision box being an actual "box" that surrounded the entire chair. I just wasn't sure if they'd made some of the chairs with tighter tolerances or not. @greendragon: Sorry, I'd already changed the whole thing to a standing npc and…
  • I have also seen similar odd behavior with wall lockers. I placed several of them on a map (the version where the locker door is closed), then I go to preview and the locker doors are opened. I double checked to make sure it was the closed version, deleted and replaced, moved them to another spot...nothing could keep them…
  • Nevermind... :( After working wonderfully all night last night it was back to slow loading this morning. I've gotten to the point where I now place a large number of items (at least ten), make notes on what I just placed, go to preview, and then make more notes on adjustments needed. Placing one or two items then going to…
  • Thank you all for your input. It is much appreciated! :D
  • Hi all! :D I think I may have figured out why certain outdoor maps are taking forever to load. I've been fighting all day with map preview weirdness (and 4ever load times), and I eventually noticed something: I was using a pre-made outdoor map to create a custom level (Alien Clearing 01). My "base" elevation was set to…
  • Ah, I see! Thank you very much! :)
  • Poor guy! :( It sounds like you're Gorn insane. Repeat after me: "It's Gorn to be alright. It's Gorn to be alright..."
  • ZOMG!!! They finally did it! They nerfed chat!
