It shouldn't be a case that players should have to stop using an ability because it breaks the game Because there simply shouldn't be an ability that breaks the game! We even paid for some of the abilities, like the tactical flagship computer..... . The lag is as bad as last year and killing the game for a lot of people.

Haha I guess this isn't possible at the moment. But maybe that's a good thing. Just imagine what T6 ships with epic gear could do in the game, if Hive Elite, which was supposed to be one of the hardest missions in STO, could be beaten by T1-ships with MK 1 gear. The "Default-Settings" are using "Active combat time", which means, that the timer for you is only ticking, when you are firing. The "DPS-Settings" are using "Entity's combat time". That is the time between your first and your last hit. "DPS-Settings" are much better to compare than the other ones.
