Incidents of WFP-related rage seems to be on the rise. A lot of folks don't know this means they're being asked to "wait for pets". Perhaps instead of rage quitting, a little patience is in order? Maybe even a little public awareness on the "problem"?

So much for Awareness...I thought you meant WTF normal-2.gif

Never thought this was a "real" problem...what kind of pets do you use? Legendary pets? haven't noticed anyone rage quit on that behalf but more "communication in team chat" would help.

Additionally, I play for fun. I find being efficient and effective more fun than being bad... and I find what others consider to be fun irrelevant.

    corrected:

Why wait for pets? hit recall and go - they'll follow at full impulse and eventually auto-dock regardless of distance - or just spawn and hold them in ship until you get to the objective

Wait for people to have their pets summoned before going in so it doesn't TRIBBLE their parse up is what they mean.

In that case, every time I see that, I'll run ahead and kill their run - dps seekers should do their own thing in their own instance, rather than try to dictate to everyone else the flow of the match for the sake of a crummy little parse to stroke themselves with.

This is for private runs in the DPS channels--emphasis on DPS. It is not for pug runs, nor was ever intended. You can go ahead and TRIBBLE over the 4 other people on a privately made match by running off and ignoring them. We get it: A selfish person has to be selfish. But if we get complaints--well, you will no longer have the ability to participate in DPS channel runs. It's really that simple.

Getting prepared for a run before the run starts is also important and has a huge impact on clear time. Using a ground example here, If I'm playing NTTE I'd like my stuff set up perfectly before anyone interacts the console because timing on the first set of mines / buffs / mortars is pretty important and contributes a huge amount of DPS. ISA is the same thing more or less.

Edit: Oh wait I quoted porch, you already know all of this so don't assume it's directed at you.

Everyone has their own definition of "fun", which translates to their own playstyle. Gonna have to get used to the concept of having "other people" in an MMO, folks.

    Some people consider that griefing.

While that is certainly griefing, its also griefing for people to leave a match because someone didn't listen to their WFP, and several people in this thread have stated they will do just that. Didn't see you or anyone else calling them griefers, strange double standard there.
That is an interesting observation. Do you consider rage-quitting to be a form of griefing?

If you are in a match with other people? Yes I do consider it griefing. Myself, win or lose, I have never quit a match in STO, I play till the end, period.
Would you still consider it griefing if the rage-quitting were based on a flight response to avoid what they perceived to be griefing being done against them?

Except that in a DPS Channel run, respecting a WFP call is in the rules of the channel and its runs. You don't follow the rules, expect the team to leave you.

Point, except that the person Rook was talking to... Burstorion was talking about pug matches, thus my comment was referring to pug matches. Frankly I couldn't care less about the derps channel and its rules, I'll never use it, so I'll never break them, no worries.

My mistake then. It just never crossed my mind that someone in a PUG would even try to call for WFP much less expect to have said call followed so I assumed this thread was about private (not necessarily DPS channel) runs.

The first time I ever saw "wfp", I said, "excuse me, but what does wfp mean?"

They explained it to me and good times were had by all.

It doesn't take much effort to be a good teammate- from either perspective.
  • azniadeetazniadeet Member Posts: 1,871 Arc User
And this isn't about varying definitions of fun, it's about disrespect toward someone who's trying to be a good communicative teammate.

There is a reason why it's called The Ryancheat.

Also, no need to get over it, it was recently and silently(like they always do with exploits) fixed.

No idea what it is about but such a reaction usually means still not over it.

As for WFP, the game will sort it out by itself. Since even pug runs in ISA only take me 4 mins to complete (no matter if peeps wfp or not) I think this old map will either be left to rot forever or an refurbished elite mode will undoubtedly be augmented with en exciting 40 seconds into sequence for everybody to enjoy while they wait for pets.

So let's see. Suppose you gave your best friend the key to your house (because you trust them), so that they can help watch over your house. Then you have a difference in opinion with your friend on how the furniture should be arranged in your house. Because of this disagreement they decide to steal all your possessions and take a dump on your front lawn whilst you're away on holiday.

I'm sure they would want you to conveniently forget it ever happened, but would you ever get over it?

To help me better understand your analogy, you see given game rules as furniture in someone’s house to judge over it as someone pleases and (this would be tough so I’m surely wrong) players as someone’s possessions in it?

Sorry, it is not my intention to offend here its just when I read stuff like “Ryancheat”, “all the cheaters have been banned” so “All is good… peace” it really catches my attention because I get the impression that some judges over game mechanics he either wasn’t aware of himself or suddenly decided that he happens to dislike them. And yes both alternatives would make me wonder if I live in the right house for rental.

OK so basically you're saying that there's something wrong when both channel owners unanimously decide to set channel (not game) rules for their own channels?

And that you're suggesting it is OK for channel admins to abuse the trust everyone has placed in them, by bot-kicking the entire channel membership from someone else's channels, and inviting the same membership to their channels under the guise of a "business a usual" channel restructure, essentially back-stabbing the original channel owners during game maintenance and attempting to destroy the results of two years of work spent on building those channels and the community within them?

Surely you're not saying this are you?!?! I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you are unaware of the events in question, and that you are not trying to twist facts and misinterpret words out of their original context like some sad misguided politician.

Also I think any reasonable player would consider "alpha stacking" to get their DPS records a "cheat", if you want to contend this issue - fair enough.

First of all thanks for finally clarifying your problem. Your analogy still feels a bit off because I’m nobody’s posession and I have never even been hurt in your moth’s old DPS drama.

As for the rest, what is alpha stacking?

Or in more general, what other means I’m not aware of could I do in your owner’s channels to have me call a cheat or get a ban?

No one is claiming players are "owned" - that is your misinterpretation. The "possessions" was an allusion to the de facto attempt to steal ownership of the channels.

As for alpha stacking? Better for it to go unexplained. Such as filthy thing should be left to RIP....

Yeah ,it seems very unwarranted to expect a PUG to know any of these rules. I mean, you can ask, but be ready to explain the concept and that people will miss your epxlanation or not care.

It's also a bit pointless anyway to do it in a PUG match - the quality of PUGs is so variable that getting your pets out first is basically just lost in all the background noise.

That alpha stacking was never used by Ryan for any kind of records. You can see it in his Videos - so we can proof it.

I don't want to name and shame, but there are some other people out, who have edited logfiles, with the intention to hide, what they have done in an ISA - and on the other hand we made videos to show everyone, what we were doing.

Yes, you guys have done ISA records on tribble using gear not available on holodeck (locked behind a rep timegate), without lag that was widely available on holodeck, and edited the logs to hide this fact, and were shameless enough to keep the record on the table, and even attempted to justify it later (because it eventually became possible to achieve those records on holodeck much later). Most impressive.

By the way, are most of your videos done on tribble or redshirt? It's very hard to tell nowadays - I suggest putting a label on the video to avoid confusion.

As for Ryan, maybe it was before your time, but ask him how he became the first person to break 50K. And how he giggled (yes, that's what I hear happened) when Agresiel found him out when he noticed 10 stacks on alpha on Ryan when they did a run together :) [So nice being naive to the facts isn't it? Has your faith been broken?].

and why you coming up with a TRIBBLE what happened 2 years ago? I mean dont u have anything else to tell to the peoples like earlier today in 10 and 75k channels? Come on its now almost 6 months the split, why the hell u have to come up everytime with new storys.
just let it go move on.. nobody want to hear that anymore ..
