I think you are forgetting the fact that COH was the first major superhero MMORPG. So regardless of the specific IP it was based on, it attracted all types superhero fans(DC, Marvel, etc). While the Trek IP has a large fanbase, I wouldnt say its larger than all the fanbases attracted by the first superhero MMO.
I agree that is true. However the question I was asked was how I arrived at the $1 figure(which is what I think the price should be), hence my explanation. You do not have to agree with my personal opinion, it is simply my answer to the question I was asked.
Because we are not purchasing an item(not even a virtual item), we are simply paying for an in game service. And not a service that requires an employee of Cryptic or PW to actually do something to our account, but simply to make a "reset" button clickable in game. So comparatively speaking, if a ship is worth $20(to take…
Called it =P http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=8011361&postcount=5 Also, this is a total rip off. Being a fleet store ship means it can only be used on the character you purchase it with, not account wide like C-store ships. And requiring 5 modules for something that can only be used on one character is,…
In regards to some of the recent post, I'd like to put 2 very important facts out there: 1) Cryptic originally intended for both factions to have full PvE content. 2) Cryptic did not set the release date for the game; it was imposed upon them by CBS. So Cryptic originally wanted for there to be a full KDF faction, they…
Captain's Log is now asking the same question: http://massively.joystiq.com/2013/02/11/captains-log-ruminating-on-star-trek-onlines-future-story/ Maybe the developers will "grace" us with a response...
Like I said earlier, the KDF may not be *THE* biggest issue, but it is certainly *ONE OF* the biggest issues that needs improvement in 2013, and that was the question he was asked.
Yeah I'll be listening, but answering community questions doesnt change the fact that when asked what big things he thought needed improving in 2013 he didnt even mention the KDF.
Wow. I just listened to his interview and when they asked him what the biggest things about the game that needed improvement in 2013 he didnt even mention the KDF. That is just pathetic.
They should not make any changes based upon anyone's posts in this specific thread. What they should do is realize that they have allowed a rude minority of people cause them to completely change the way they communicate with the well behaved majority of their community. And by allowing a vocal minority of people force…
If you really want to cite Trek as an example, one of it's most famous quotes ever is from Spock: "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few". He was right, although Cryptic has done the reverse and punished the many for the deeds of the few.
The "warning" comment was tongue in cheek, and if you took it otherwise I will simply tell you that it was said with good humor. However, regardless of your misinterpretation of my meaning, nothing I actually said was a specific personal attack against any person in this thread. You, on the other hand, proceeded to attack…
Ad hominem has always been the last resort of people who do not have a real counter-argument. If you disagree with the logic of my previous post, then feel free to explain why. But trying to attack me personally only shows you have no real counter-argument.
Warning: the following posts contains actual "logic" that is going to disprove your argument. If you are afraid of "logic" or having your argument disproven, then read at your own risk. Now then, The reason you think those examples are the "mass" that the good folks are buried under is because those are what grab your…
No, what people "deserve" is based on their own actions, not those of others. The small group of rude people deserve to be kicked out. The majority of well behaved folks do not "deserve" to be treated differently. So if your argument is based on what people "deserve", then it just fell apart.
Basically, everything I said in my last post still applies. Neither they nor we have gained anything from their lesser communication. There is still a vocal minority saying rude things. If the devs still read the forums on a regular basis, they are still getting their feelings hurt. No change there. However, now we get far…
Lets make sure we're both on the same page, so to speak, before going any further. There are far less dev posts these days than there used to be(branflakes isnt a dev). It sounds like we both agree they do not post as often because they got their feelings hurt by a small group of rude people. So are they still reading the…
What exactly do you mean by "avoid distractions and stress"? Just because they post an engineering report does not mean they have to sit there and read all the replies. Are you suggesting that the devs lack the self control not to sit there and read every reply just because they post some information?
The reality is, when you give in to someone's "bullying"(for lack of a better word) you are letting them control you. And letting someone control you is weak behavior. But putting aside their own ego, the devs should care enough about the majority of their customers who are well behaved not to cut them off because a small…
Dear OP: you screwed up by using the term "bribing". In reality, it is selling or trading. You have something fleets want(fleet credits), they have something you want(whatever that may be). Exchanging one thing for another is not a bribe, it is a sale or trade. Using the wrong term is going to make some people think you…
