You were actually able to focus on separate weapons and systems... say you always fly a cruiser with phaser beams and torps... you could choose to focus on phaser weapons and let's say quantum torps... same as the subsystems you actually use. The new one is so generic that everyone pretty much uses cookie cutter builds....…
