I just read the patch notes for today, and noticed that no mention was made of the "one per character" Epic Phoenix Prize Token as one of the rewards for gaining 20 daily progress in DLT ALT CTRL. Are we still getting those prize packs?
Upon further examination, the Epic Prize Tokens are mentioned in the blog about DLT ALT CTRL, but not within the patch notes themselves.
There's some discussion around the Epic reward being not that useful for people who have all the epic level ships. It's possible that they removed it while they resolve that issue?
Eg. the epic phoenix token is still there as a once per character (and every character) claim.

They could've just given the option to just get one event ship as an account wide unlock after completing the event, but I guess people may want a different ship per character in some cases.

None of the ships returned are account wide unlocks, so it could be a question of updating the phoenix token once with the new parameters (ie. no trade down, claim it in the c-store) or updating every single thing in the epic phoenix box with a new reclaim. Plus folks get the choice of swapping what ships they want for each character, an added feature. So likely a win-win between work required (critical with the team as it is) and what players get out of it.

IIRC, console has an Event version of the Epic token that does unlock a ship account-wide, so it shouldn't be a lot of work getting that PC side. I can kinda see the argument that it'd be convenient for some players, though.
I don't understand why it's better to have a single account wide ship than a choice on a per character basis. The second gives more choice, so surely it's better?

It would be for me, as long as each new character created gets to pick one. Some people do prefer to be able to reclaim ships, and with single-character epic tokens you can't do that.

ummm. yes you CAN do that lol.
its called select the SAME SHIP on the other character.
lets say you want to choose the vorgon carrier as an account wide unlock.
well. use the token to select the vorgon carrier. then switch to another character a month later.... AND SELECT THE VORGON CARRIER AGAIN WITH THAT CHARACTERS TOKEN... voila. instant account wide unlock. RECLAIMED.
NO LIMIT TO NUMBER OF CHARACTERS WHO CAN PICK THAT SAME SHIP.
although if you limit your choice that is YOUR decision to make.
because its not a SINGLE token. but a token for EACH character on that account
space is disease and danger wrapped in darkness and silence

That's not quite what "reclaim" normally means for STO ships -- with C-Store ships and Event ships one character can dismiss the ship then re-claim it and get the ship back. With phoenix token, lock box, promo pack ships if that one character dismisses their ship it is gone forever. They cannot RE-claim it.
People have done this for years with the low-level C-Store Connie to get a full set of TOS phasers. You can't do this with a lock box ship.

you have a point. but unfortunately for you the point doesnt really apply.... there NOTHING you can get by REclaiming an epic token ship. you cant pick up new weapons.... like those phasers... because you dont NEED to. the ship comes with a full complement of white weapons... and arent upgradable anyway. you need to purchase the lockbox version of those weapons in order to get full use of them. all items like fancy consoles etc. you can only use one at a time, so having spares means NOTHING. why reclaim the ship at ALL? there is no REAL reason that isnt grasping at straws for an argument.
besides which the original point was being able to reclaim the same ship on other characters..... well... like i already explained.... you CAN!.
and why would anyone complain about a NON major/seasonal event reward of this magnitude?
FIVE HUNDRED LOBI, more than half way for the cost of a lobi ship, AND an epic token? that grants a DIFFERENT ship per character! thats like what... 10 possible ships right there across your account?
anyone, and i mean ANYONE who is complaining about the reward for this event in the smallest way, is spoiled and inconsiderate.
space is disease and danger wrapped in darkness and silence
I totally get not wanting to allow players to get phoenix upgrades from this free epic token, but there's so many other character-locked items at the lower levels I'd like.
I have every epic ship, and literally can't use my token. All I can do is discard it (don't plan to though).
I hope they adjust it in the future. I appreciate that they finally did this... I just wish I could use it.

I ended up skipping the event, partly for this reason.
So far, I have not used anything except one of the elite tokens, so my Kobali character finally got her Samsar
I finished the event on a different character so the one token per character thing is working, which is good.

500 lobi is valuable, and I love summonables, so the shuttles are a great reward for me too.
Hopefully they'll find a way to reward those of us who have all the epic ships, but if not, they can sit in my bank until I miss an event or something.

I considered it for the lobi, but wasn't feeling up for the grind this time. Getting another Epic I couldn't use or sell or gift was just the last straw.
You know, I perfectly understand Cryptic putting extra restrictions on this compared to a "normal" Epic Prize Token. But I am genuinely irritated they didn't say it up front. The lack of communication is frankly insulting.

I hope so too.
It's a useful thing to have for anyone who missed any of the ships, but for those of us who have played long and hard, this basically 'cheapens' the Event reward.
It would have been nice to have something 'extra' show up in the list of ships - but only if they're all obtained already.
Quick question. Will future characters be able to claim the token?
Thanks for taking the time to test it, but was there reason to think otherwise.
Any new characters created have always had access to previous Event rewards.

Guess I was having memories of rewards given on the Console version of the game years ago. Where you could earn some T6 ships but it was per character not account unlocked. So some have the Lukari Ho'kuun and Ferengi Warship, but not the newer alts.
Greetings, there is no way to use the Epic Prize Token – Phoenix Prize Pack reward, I already have the reward, but I cannot claim any ship, is there any way to claim the ship already having the reward?
I wonder if they could add level-locked upgrades or level-locked downgrade Phoenix tokens to the list? Since they originally planned to have it be able to be downgraded all the way into Phoenix Upgrades specifically for those of us already with all the ships (or nothing desired anyway), but they figured out you could just spam more characters to get effectively unlimited upgrades (the token is claimable on low-level characters), maybe a compromise just for the Upgrades option to where it'd be at least a bit harder to get them like the Recruitment Rewards are now by requiring a higher level (I would be fine with 65) to claim the Upgrades would work.
I'm also for the T5s being added in, particularly the Voth Dread and Jem Bugship (that unlocks the frigates for the Jem Dread), as well.

That does not say that it can "only" be used that way. And I did not suggest it was meant as a "personal" insult. Considering that Cryptic is, to be blunt, not the best at communication, it was a fair statement.
*I* specifically clarified when it was announced that it could not be broken down, so your argument about lack of communication is lacking. So, stop trolling.

All Ships unlocked via Events are account-wide unlocks for us on Console too.
The Lukari Ho'kuun and Ferengi Warship were both Z-Store giveaways at some stage, and those were claimed per character directly from the Store, not by completing Events.

I used the Lobi to get a couple pieces of the Tzenkethi space set for my Tetryon using character. And another 2401 uniform for an alt.

3. Yes. Everything they do is personally designed to insult you. At least you didn't say it was a slap in the face.
Update: Tested this myself and indeed a new character I created today did have access to the token.
