    - So. As someone who understands how all the criticism is ultimately toxic.

Criticism is only toxic to the overtly sensitive...

Without criticism, how do you expect to get better quality games or writing, or storytelling?
Let them run with anything and hope for the best? That's the plan? That's not a very good way to run a company, especially a gaming company. It's also no fun for the players who spend money on this game even though they don't have to.

They should read all the criticism and learn from their mistakes and dismiss the hate rants as BS, and have the sense to know which is which. Either way, take that information and go and make better games. I've seen this "book burning" behavior by moderators and a constant disdain for the players on multiple games and it is ruining gaming everywhere. You are not improving anything by ignoring and blocking players.

"No Man's Sky" for example... It started out as a cash grab. Every gamer who bought it hated it. The programmers saw their sales plummet. They admitted to what they did. They listened to their customers' criticisms good and bad. Then they went back to the drawing board, and now have a great game. Take a lesson from them. DO NOT FEAR AND CENSOR CRITICISM. You will only drive away players and sales.

I know you can't please everyone, but try and think about it, if there was nothing wrong, there would be no serious amounts of criticism. The fact that there is a whole thread dedicated to how people are commenting shows, the programmers don't want to hear it. They are not behaving like businessmen; they're behaving like activists.

A reminder that this thread is not for discussion of the relative merits of the 3rd-gen Star Trek shows. You want to talk about that, you can go down to Ten Forward and join one of the many, many similar threads already in progress.

Hi tech support told me I have to make a post here to get tech support, it looks like there is supposed to be a new discussion tab when you click discussions but I don't have one. Could anyone assist?

So... Are we supposed to learn how to have a proper discussion from this thread or carry on the last couple of pages as an example to the more normal discussions that happen on this forum? :P

    Thank you moderation team.

Sometimes, the best way to have a civil discussion is the removal of those that only intend to be toxic.

Anonymity = Toxicity sometimes. I suspect we see some people's true personality here. Instead of the false flag they fly IRL. And I'm not really surprised by it. Because there are few Real Life consequences for ripping someone or something here in as nasty a manner as possible. Some view the forums on any game as another PvP map where they can score the killshot. Another benefit is the chance to act out in front of a crowd. Whether we admit or not, we all enjoy attention and the opportunity to influence others. As well as the opportunity to connect with others who think and feel the same way we do.

Mea Culpa, BTW. I have written some scathing posts here. But one day I realized that a century from now none of this will be important. Or remembered. I also realized <Delete> works just as good as <Send> for removing negative thoughts and feelings whenever I am really ticked off about someone or something here. Bad attitudes are infectious. It takes at least two people to have an InterWebs Kung Fu fight. If I refuse to pick up a gauntlet which somebody tosses down, I've lost nothing.

Star Trek Online is a game. Something we do for fun. It should never be allowed to become a lifestyle.

I would be a shame to have to lock a discussion about how to have a discussion.

Nonsense, winning the internet is a strong life goal and all must pursue it. Apart from Redditors......they must never win anything.

Thanks to your reply to my post, I just found another way to express my somewhat negative thoughts and feelings. Pulled out actual paper and a pen and wrote down how your reply made me feel. Using the pen to actually write the words onto the paper.

    In cursive, no less.

Next. I held the paper up really close to my screen so everyone could see it.

You might as well. It served its purpose four months ago.

And that purpose was to display that he doesn't care, doesn't do his job, and that nobody can discuss it civilly.

And the simple QUESTION that I raised - and that he went out of his way to explain why he didn't have time to answer it - is STILL unanswered five months later.

Well, you'd be wrong there, but I'm not going to argue the issue.

As for the simple question, you'll have to point that out to me, because I wasn't here for the initial discussion.

    Hey, I helped!

I'll assume fee fees would be badly hurt from your carefully written statement of malign intent. Possibly mine?

I'll just add that should I rise to power, anybody caught using Reddit unironically will be sentenced to 77.5 years in an isocube.

I wasn't sure if the funny would translate correctly or not. But you got it. I very much appreciate this.
Gives me hope to see some people around here are not looking for a reason to be triggered by the slightest provocatiion. Either real or imagined.

A forgotten requirement for having a civil discussion with someone else here is not taking one's self too seriously.
Another forgotten thing which is useful to a civil discussion here is a sense of humor.

To be fair this place is a little dry.

I genuinely do not like Reddit, but at least they have fun most of the time. A lot of people on here have their heads up their exhaust ports. That could be said about most official forums though, no fun allowed.

I've heard Reddit can be pretty toxic though... Then again I don't even know how to navigate around Reddit.

I don't even have Facebook Messenger App. Hell... my main 3 apps are Pokemon Go, FATE/Grand Order, and 7-11.

I don't do social media outside of forums really, but every time I used Reddit on this here tablet it nags you about the app.

Said app turns every page into an incredibly disordered pile of nonsense that requires several degrees in cryptology to decipher. I could make a brand new topic and in order to find it, I'd have to look about 15 pages back.

Reddit is too cliquey, if you don't tow the company line you get downvoted into oblivion or get outright banned. R/sto is one of the worst, I got banned for pointing out a shortcut with Jem'Hadar Vanguard, where it auto sponsors every rep on every current and future toon. I suspect it might be one reason Cryptic went after rep dil first.

Kind of off-topic now, so I'll shutup about it.
