This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
Maybe we're underestimating STO this year...maybe it will be the Protostar and the Event ship that people will want to fly for more than a fortnight.
If only!
Seriously doubt it though - I mean, unless STO's management were given a heads-up about the show (and no evidence to suggest this is the case) we didn't really know enough about the Protostar until very recently and have only recently seen the 'transformation sequence' (when it engaged the protostar drive) up close once.
Prodigy was in the works years ago, because I saw that interview with Kate...she was approached at least two-years ago and the guys really do seem to have a vision for what the series is going to be.
It was also pretty sharpish that Picard elements his the game...Jeri's cameos and ground gear, etc and the same with Lower Decks. Prodigy will have to hit STO sooner rather than later and I'd just love it to be sooner.
I know in my heart that they won't change the Summer and Winter Events from Risian this and Breen that...but I do wish there was more variety. Ships as rewards, but no playable space missions and something fun and kooky, or ground gear would be a nice change.
A candy attack console, or a Universal Breen Energy Dampener, etc.

CBS brought STO in on DSC and gave them an early look at a number of things, but according to comments in the livestreams they have not done that as much (if any) with the other shows and later seasons of DSC. Clothing and other purely cosmetic stuff they can do from teasers and cliffhangers from the previous season but any special abilities take more time to analyze so they can get it right, and it is unlikely that they will tackle doing the Protostar until they see exactly what it can do.
They actually have changed the summer and winter ships from Risian and Breen to other things now and then, the first year I did the summer event the prize was the Vorgon Ytijara dreadnaught-cruiser for instance, and they haven't done a Breen ship for winter in three years (it has all been "Kramp'Ihri" variants of Fek'lhri ships since).
I doubt they would ever do "candy" ships for winter prizes since the devs take Star Trek seriously enough that whimsical stuff like that is not allowed off of Q's Winter Wonderland world. Personally, I agree with that viewpoint, if they allowed silly stuff in the main part of the game it would soon be overrun with it and lose any Trek feel (it happened with a number of other games where they ended up looking more like modern real-world Mardi Gras than sword and sorcery fantasy).
It would be nice if they did some others though, like new classes of Benthan ships, a Fesarian pilot ship (they could even use the same kind of animations they do for Book's ship since they are clusterships), something similar to the Gorn and Orion ships from TOS, and maybe even a few of the less crazy ships from TAS (in fact that could be a good way to experiment with making a ship that looks cell-shaded enough to satisfy CBS for their animated shows yet still fits the STO aesthetic with no risk).
My guesstimate is that its either going to be the aquarium or the pakled ship. However, it is odd that they have not released anything about any part of the event yet being how its either going to come out in a few days or either early next week.
Yeah, I think it's clear it will be the 7th. On the late side for me, but I think it will be from the 7th to January 4th.

It is strange, because they keep updating Leeta in STO, to actually look more like Chase Masterson does today and yet, they've not updated Q to look ANYTHING like John De Lancie...ever. His toon is just the bog-standard male, stuck in the costume. It's fine if John himself wants nothing to do with the game, but surely they could make him the toon like even remotely like him.

Well, by law, you can't use someone's likeness without their explicit permission, so....
And yet, I would have said that using the image of someone from a past show, like TNG and not how John looks today, would be okay. I'm sure we've had characters appear in STO, who the actors haven't participated with?
No, we have not - in ANY case where someone hasn't signed a contract giving Cryptic permission to use their likeness, Cryptic has not used that person's likeness - that's why Kirk's face can't be seen in that one TOS recruit mission. And also why Data (who it very clearly is) can't be seen at the end of Survivors when he visits Sela in her cell to tell her about Tasha Yar.

That's not how the law works though, it's likeness from the birth to death, there's some exceptions but those are not relevant to STO and as far as I know there's not been a single actor whose likeness has been used without permission, if there was a character they didn't have the actor likeness rights for they used a generic NPC that only remotely resembled the actor.
Well, John de Lancie has done voice work for one of those rubbish smartphone based Trek games. Perhaps there is some reason, tied to that, he can't do voice work for STO too?
Eitherway, moot point in this case - as said earlier, the 'Q' we meet in STO is Q Junior from 'The Q and the Grey' and 'Q2', NOT John de Lancie's character.
No. Still not okay. Actors have to agree to license their likenesses before any company or business can legally use them in any capacity.
Or in some cases their estates, given that a couple of the actors whose characters appear in this game are dead (although Scotty is voiced by Doohan's son, so there's that approval there, I guess).

But is Q Jr. Trelane like the fan theory suggests, Trelane is accepted as a Q by fans and as result Q Junior also seems like the perfect candidate, plus John Delancie did based the entire Q Continuum off this TOS Character.
The thought I have is that with John de Lancie having voiced Q in Lower Decks, and returning in the flesh for Picard season 2, the possibility exists they might bring him into the game in some form or another. (And similarly to Dr. McCoy's assessment about Spock, I think the beard gives him character. )

I can finally make my janitor character. Or at least a giant ship based on vacuums!
This game combined with christmas(the most comercialized holiday ever!) and space balls with it's open blatant comercialism theme! It's a perfect fit.
SideNote: I just noticed something. The Jews in space ships with the circles in the middle are the ones from the second star wars trilogy. Did george lucas make the trading people the same as the jews in space to parody a parody. That is the same scene where the little ships tries to get in. think the one before anakin is blown up. Or he's paroding a parody and reversing the scene. But I think the anakin entering teh ship is a blatant, "parody," of this scene from space balls. I wonder if the rest of the movie was too. Might be why the third trilogy was the first trilogy. They didn't have any movie to, "parody," for the newest ones. Oh, wait. I forgot the side movie also used the shielded planet idea and, "parodied," space balls. And then Paro Died right onto it's face. 8E

But odds are against it being the event ship.
Wasn't the Jem'Hadar bug first or second winter event ship, granted Dominion wasn't playable back then.

They did withering barrage. Why not this one too.
