I fully agree... because the real issue (as I see it) is that we have a (possibly) dwindling number of zen sellers and an increasing number of buyers... and in both cases it's because they have exhausted the things that they are willing to spend dilithium on and want to spend as zen instead.
exactly however my original idea was moving cosmetics to the Dil store, or adding cosmetic items that's not currently in game like the Andorian Imperial Guard uniforms from ENT.
I don’t know if this has been suggested yet but I was thinking of a dil sink that could work.
What if it was offered to change the surroundings of a fleet base? I don’t think a new map would be needed to create this (or maybe it would) . It could just be the background and maybe a few elements. One background or area could be an asteroid field or one could have that wormhole from that Tzenkethi mission (forgot the name). You could have one with a fluidic space setting or even one a nebula like setting, the choices could be many. If that was purchasable with dil maybe that could be even a temporary dil sink?
I’m sure there is a lot of things I didn’t consider but at this point I am willing to suggest any solution in the hopes it would work.
"There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see, and so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life." - Ten Bears (Will Sampson)
My apologies if I'm just reiterating what someone has said before, but it didn't come up in a simple forum search and I'm not going to wade through pages of posts. The simple fix is to require that lockbox keys be purchased with dilithium. You can still buy Zen, (and should, to support STO's future), but instead of a direct buy of Zen-to-keys, you would need to buy the dilithium required from the player exchange first.
And if by some miracle that drives the market too far in the other direction, have the lower end cap for buying dilithium be directly provided by Perfect World/Cryptic/STO rather than via players. In this way there will always be a way for paying players to buy dilithium while still allowing the free-to-players a meaningful way to participate in the dilithium economy.
Also, while I most-favor moving only lockbox keys to dilithium, (as they are a high-ticket recurring item), moving anything-and-everything to dilithium instead of direct Zen would work so long as Perfect World provides an unlimited supply of dilithium for sale at whatever market baseline they decide upon.
Starship skins. I have every Odyssey since they launched. not sure i want or need to buy the Lexington, but I's love the mission pod skin, and I'd pay Dil for it.

Guys... I hate to say it but... this thread has gone Necro. I will consult with the other mods on if this should be closed or not due to the fact that we still have an ongoing economy issue, but for the time being please hold off until I get word. I will update when I have said word.
Edit: Ok... got word... thread closed due to Necromancy.
